I have a page that is mostly dynamically built in the page load of my VB.net code behind page.
The issue is that I made a change to the page and added a button that redirects to a secondary page. When the button is clicked there is a very noticeable lag until the button click event fires because the page is being rebuilt every time.
I had not wrapped the code in the load event in the If not ispostback.... because I have dynamic controls that the user interacts with and I need the page to be rebuilt when the user clicks them.
The dynamic controls are clickable table cells. I did some looking and I found that the RegisterPostBackControl. I thought this would be perfect but, it does not although I maybe using it incorrectly.
Now I have tested this on an ASPX page and it seems to work, I then copy the code across to an ASCX control and put the page live and it does not work.
The update panel has an animation extender that just displays a div with a processing gif when you click next/previous.
So any reason why it creates the control on the next and not the previous step?
I am working on an application where i have got, a content page within a Master Page. I have placed a gridview on the page. This gridview has three fields, one of them is TemplateFied, a BoundFiled and a CommandField, along with paging enabled in the gridview.
I wanted to place this gridview in Update panel so that it doesnot re-loads when command is clicked or page is changed.
I have a page with an UpdatePanel in wich I load the menu selected Layout pages, and the layouts loads its contents dynamically.
It works fine, but when I load a Layout that has an Multiview control, the code behind of the Layout don't come in into the if(!Page.IsPostBack), ok, I fixed it with if(multiview.ActiveViewIndex==-1) multiview.setactiveview("viewName").
In the Multiview I have a ListView, in the listview I have Linkbuttons that opens another view and shows the information of the specified row dynamically.
when I click in the link so the page disappear from the update panel... why? I do not a full postback of the page, so I think I don't need to reload that page on the update panel... Right?
I have an invoice form that I want to be able to populate using an ajax control. There will be a section at the top that will allow the user to select a record from a db or create a new one. This section will have several criteria types that can be used to select the records. They will be able to choose the record by the invoice id, date of service....etc.
I'm trying to decide between using the dynamic populate extender and the update panel for the different areas of the invoice. For example, there are different sections that show the customer's info, notes for the invoice, the services performed and the totals for the work done. I want each of these to be dynamic. For example, when a new service is added to the invoice the total is updated. Or if an existing invoice is opened these fields will be populated for that record.
I'm trying to decide if the dynamic populate extender or update panels should be used for each of these dynamic sections of the invoice. It seems like either can be used but I'm not sure which would be better.
I am using asp.net 3.5 c#. I am trying to do this:
In one page, a user can insert some stuff (name, phone .. etc) to the database. And then the user should be able to see the rows he added as a list automatically in a datalist (or other control). As he inserts rows, it appears in the datalist.
I tried to use update panel and inside it datalist, with a button as a trigger but it did n't work with me!
I have an AJAX Modal Popup panel that contains a RadioButtonList, 2 labels and 2 DropDowns. I want to update the Labels and DropDowns when a radio button is selected. My attempt at this posts back which causes the ajax popup to disappear.
aspx called on image click: <asp:Panel ID="pnlModalContainer" runat="server"> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblTest" runat="server" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" OnSelectedIndexChanged="rblTest_SelectedIndexChanged"> [code]...
If a client used a license to create a user, I need to update the Used column in the table. As I set ClientId column as the id column for this table in the mapping xml, I am getting TooManyRowsAffectedException. how to set a composite key at mapping level so that NHibernate can udpate based on ClientId and Type.
Something like: Update License SET Used=Used-1 WHERE ClientId='xxx' AND Type=1
I have a form in a page and a panel inside the form. The panel gets loaded with dynamic controls like radio button and text boxes.
User is allowed to choose any radio option and enter any value in the textbox beside it and then goes for submit button to move to next stage.
I load the controls in the panel based on the index of a combo control on the same form.it is done in selectedIndexChanged - This is working fine.
When i go for the submit button and ask for the textbox control, it says "object reference not set to instance of object", denoting that instance is not available. Moreover the panel control list gets empty automatically.
I have one update panel inside updatepanel i have one dropdownlist .When i change dropdownlist value so as per value button1 which is out of updatepanel not visible =true or false as per dropdownlist value.
I have written a Crystal reports web application, that prompts ths user for parameters and then apply them and exports the report to a folder as .rpt and then display the report.
I prompt the parameters on one screen and then display the report on another page. I have the AJAX update panel and update progress controls in the parameter page. When the user enters the parameters and click on ok, I export the report and then loads the report to a session report document and transfer the user to the second page where the report is displayed. I use the following code to do transfer to the seconds page.
I have excluded the report load and parameter assign code here.
In the second page I have the following:
rptViewer.reportsource = Session("rpt")
My problem is this works one time and then stops working the second. What I found out was it comes to the statement:
But it does not even load the show.aspx page. It stays on the parameter page. There are no errors displayed. I could not see any errors when I debug the application also. And out of the blue it works sometimes. And if I remove the update panel and progress control, my report works all the time.
I m having GridView with scroll bars. I keep those in Update panel to update without postback when I click on Previous and Next buttons outside the Grid. Now, I drag the scroll bar down and select a row. The row is getting highlighted and works fine but the Scroll bars Goes Up. If I remove the update panel, scroll bar is not going up but next and previous button events are not working
I have an admin page in which I need to change the list whenever a user signs up on our web site. How can I put and event to MySql database so that whenever the count of a table row changes it refreshes my update panel for me to see the new user.
I have a gridview linked to a formview both in an update panel, my triggers are GridView SelectedIndex, and FormView ItemDeleted, ItemUpdated, ItemInserted, and ModeChanged;however, when I insert, or delete in the Formview the Gridview does not update, even though the update panel shows the progress update, and now shows the new record. How do I get the Gridview to update when the panel is updated?
I have gridview and below that I m having previous, Next and Image Viewer. When I click on previous and Next, the image is getting displayed in a right way. When I select on the particular row, it is also working fine. Now, I m doing paging, If I click on Paging, The first row in the 2nd page is getting highlighted, the correct Image is getting in code behind, but the update panel is not working and the same old image is displaying..May I know, why the update panel is not working for that event.
