Save Datatable Object To Sql Database?

Apr 1, 2010

I have a form where users upload a file (csv), then the server does some processing, and generates a datatable. the table will be shown in grid. however, the table's column is unknown, and sometimes, the table is huge. I need show this table in another form.

It seems session variable is not good for this since the table maybe huge. is there a way to write this table to sql, then load it again in the other form?

Data Controls :: Save DataTable In Cache And Set Expiration In C#

Feb 22, 2013

I need to remove the data stored in the cache after few minutes (Output and Data Cache).

My concept is binding data from server, storing it in to cache and displayed in the gridview, after a 10 seconds when the button is clicked the cache data should removed and need to show null like nothing. I have build some basic of code, how to get perfectly. I am new to dotnet.

find the below required points and attachments of asp.dot net code and sql query.

1. When page load, gridview should display using Cache.

2. when Clear Cache Button after 10 second from pageload is clicked then the gridview should go hide

3. Reload Cache Button is clicked the gridview again load.

Using Select Distinct On An Already Created DataTable Object?

Nov 16, 2010

I have an already created DataTable object which i am using for my girdview (asp.net) i also need to bind a column of that object to a DropDownList. The datatable has the correct details in the column but the column contains more that 1 of the same name in the column - hence I would love to just do some kind of SELECT DISTINCT on the datatable and copy it to a new datatable for use with binding the dropdown.

This would allow me to save resources by making another trip to the database.

Here is an example, the current datatable has a column called items and in this column has the following entries

1
1
1
1
5
5
6

And of course i need only unique items for binding to my dropdown, hence i need the following data

1
5
6

Of course i don't want to change the original datatable object but rather make a copy of it will the new details.

C# - Iterate Through DataTable To Find Elements In List Object?

Mar 24, 2010

As I iterate through a DataTable object, I need to check each of its DataRow objects against the items in a generic string List. I found a blog post using the List's Find method along with a delegate, but whereas that example has a separate class (Person), I'm attempting something like the following using an instance of the string object:

// My definition of the List object.
List<string> lstAccountNumbers = new List<string>();
...
// I populate the List via its Add method.
...
foreach (DataRow drCurrentRow in dtMyDataTable.Rows)
{
if (lstAccounts.Find(delegate(string sAccountNumber) { return sAccountNumber == drCurrentRow["AccountNumber"]; })
{
Found_DoSomething();
}
else
{
NotFound_DoSomethingElse();
}
}

However, with this syntax I'm receiving "Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'bool'" for the if block. what I'm doing wrong and how best to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

EF4 - Add Object To Objectcontext Without Save Changes?

Oct 29, 2010

I have a page like Order - Order lines. Order represents by some textboxes and ddls, Order lines represents by GridView.

I want to let users add order lines without save changes to database. For example: he adds 4 order lines, fill order info and then hits Save button. Only an that moment all information should be saved to DB.

When I use code like

using (Entities ctx = new Entities())
{
//create new OrderLine
OrderLine ol = OrderLine.CreateOrderLine(1, 1, "", 1);
//add OrderLine to OrderLines collection
ctx.CreateOrderLines.AddObject(ol);
}

newly created OrderLine does not appears in my object context, so I can't access it and bind GridView to new OrderList collection.

How can I solve this problem? Or maybe there are another ways to perform this task?

C# - Save Updated Object In Generic List?

Aug 30, 2010

I am trying hard to update a business object inside a List<>.

I am using a checkbox list

When a checkbox list item is clicked I check if it exists, if yes I mark it as Dirty (means the user unchecks an item)If not, I add a new item to the list (means the user clicks a new item)and store it in view state

How do I update the Generic List with the Dirty Object ?
On form update, do I foreach and make separate lists of dirty and new objects to send to DB layer or would you recommend any other way ?

Here is my code.

protected void cblExclusions_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (cblExclusions.SelectedIndex != -1)
{
ftExclusions myExclusion=new ftExclusions(); // Business object

Forms Data Controls :: Binding Formview To Strongly Typed DataTable In Session Object?

Sep 29, 2010

Okay, here's something that I could easily do the hard way and manually wire up each form element and save it to a datatable in memory, but there has to be a more efficient way to do it.

Here's what I have:

1. A strongly typed datatable and tableadapter in a XSD name Orders

2. A formview control which currently is connected to an ODS connected to the Orders tableadapter, this makes it easy to wire up the databindings for each form field in design view

I would like to:

- bind the the formview to an instance of the strongly typed datatable, and then save the dt to a session object without interacting with the actual database

- load forms on subsequent pages from the dt in session

- ultimately save the dt info to an actual database table on the third page

I've read some solutions where a custom class is created, but to me this seems like almost as much work as wiring up the form field to the table columns manually in code.

Code Versus Database - Sequence Of Steps, Call Database Or Check Session Object?

Aug 3, 2010

I have several web sequential pages which will modify a record and its child records in the database, called a "project". Such a project is currently passed between pages using its database ID in the URL parameters.

A project has some information specific to itself, and also consists of one or more Tasks, which each have information specific to itself.

Is it faster (alternatively, more maintainable or more easily understood) to hit the database each time I need to query the same project (and its tasks), or should I query the database once (either once for each page or once for all pages and save to Session) and check the saved object rather than the database?
