I d like to send bulk emails as part of custom reminder service for my website (500 emails approximately).Which is the better way to send all these emails without spamming? I was thinking of sending 15-20 emails per minute, to avoid overloading mail server. Is it better to use multiple TO recipients or use BCC?The reminder service will run on a background task.

I need to send emails based on users input time and day (based on their time zone)? Kind of a reminder.
For Example: User input 2:00pm Eastern Time on my server I have different time zone, how to calculate the time and send the email at users time-zone. Its a web application. What is the best way to accomplish it using asp.net c#? If somebody already done it in the past I will be glad to take a look at source code.

The projects are accessed through a public website which runs on two load balanced servers, independent of the database server. Can anyone recommend some good ways to automatically e-mail reminders once a deadline date is approaching? I would like to find all projects that are due within, say, 5 days, grabs all the user's email addresses associated with each project id, and send them a reminder e-mail, so the solution would need to allow code to find the e-mail addresses and obviously send the e-mail.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to use ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem to send daily newsletter to my website subscribed members (about 500 members) at 2:00 am every day automatically.I placed record on txt file everytime send out email for debuging, then I found that only about 165 members been send out. every day is different number but just about.never finished whole 500 members.looks like thread aborted before finish sent out all emails.anybody knows what's going on here?I am using shared hosting, so I couldn't run my own window service for this.

Since there is a limitation on number of mails sent per day and limitations on sending to number of users, I cant use this service for long. Even If I use an idea to make sure I use multiple id's to send thousands of emails it will still not work.

This host provider charges a lot to me if I include a dll, so I am not able to use dll. Is there any I can send bulk emails without using a dedicated server or dll.(Will use it in only in worst case scenario).My host providers said that they will be able to give service of sending only 800 mails per day. I'm wondering which was would be faster both for the mail server and for my client app. Should I send multiple emails with just different TO addresses, or just one with multiple BCC addresses? I tried testing this by sending a bunch to my own email and the multiple emails method work, but with the BCC and a single message I only get that single message in my inbox. Shouldn't I be getting as many copies as the number of times I put my address in the BCC line?

If I want to send an e-mail (up to 30) in response to user's action, what execution context do I do it from?
Do I do a sync call (mail server is in the same data center, so actual sending is fast)? Do I spawn a thread and send it from there? such that each user-request-to-send mail gets handled by a new thread? Do I have a background thread that handles a queue of e-mails?
The biggest issue I think, is that it is a shared web hosting. So I don't know what's a good way to install/start a windows service, or start a dedicated thread.
Details: ASP.NET MVC app, hosted on IIS 7.0 integrated mode, on discountasp.net using discauntasp.net smtp server.
Is there a better way? What's a "standard" way to accomplish this?
Created a thread in master page and have called email function to select mails which are not sent from database. Mails are going but the problem is whenever a user clicks mails are going multiple times.

I need to send emails to users from my application at regular intervals.
Condition is: When a user registers to my site a confirmation mail will be send to the user. I have already done it. And if the user doesn't confirm the registration within 12 hours through that confirmaton mail the application must have to send a new confirmation mail to the same user and this should repeat for every next 12 hours until that user confirm the registration.
My Problem: When a user registers a new timer should have to be created for that user for sending emails in intervals of 12 hours. The email sending time for each user is based on his registration time. So we cannot use a common timer for sending mail to users.
