C# - How To Create A Custom Web Part From A Custom List In Sharepoint 2007
Dec 19, 2010
I want to create a custom web part in SharePoint 2007 that allows me to take items from an existing custom list (i.e. Title, Hyperlink, Description and photo) and then render it in a format of my choice. How can I do this using C# asp.net and a web part?
i downloaded Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 Redistributable Package and used in asp.net page and it works fine without post back all the page BUT, when i created costume web part including report viewer , default page shows javascript error and the report papers as disabled , and when i click viwer the whole page getting post back
I have a custom master page that I use in WSS3.0 (SharePoint 2007) and I am using a HTML 'DOC TYPE' which I am declaring at the top of the master page. The site all works very well with my master page apart from some of SharePoint controls which are acting a little funny, namely the People Picker for a People and Group field. If I remove the DOC TYPE declaration then the People Picker and other controls work perfectly and behave as they should but it sends some of my customisations/layout all over.
Before I spend a lot of time reviewing fixing the issues I get to my design without having the DOC TYPE declared, does anyone know if there is a certain DOC TYPE that is compatible with WSS3.0 / SharePoint 2007 and all of its features (i.e. People Picker Fields)?
I am new to sharepoint I am familiar with creating webparts and using them in sharepoint, but how to create an entire site as template and make it to use in another sites
I want to create a very simple WebService, which will be deployed on SharePoint Farm 1 and will be accessed by SharePoint Farm 2. The WebService will be responsible for querying all the ContentTypes and returning the result to the Farm 2. I don't know the basics of creating the WebService in SharePoint.
I have deployed a custom SharePoint Web service on Farm A. I am trying to access this Web service from a SharePoint timer job on Farm B. On Farm B, I am creating Class Library project, packaging it (wsp) and then deploying to GAC. The problem is I'm unable to access the Web Service using the following code. TodaysNewSVC is a service reference
//getNewsFromInsite is a WebMethod which returns the DataTable.
Note: Both farms use the same active directory authentication. I have also done the debugging for Timer Job and feature activation and they are working fine. The problem occurs during the call i.e. getNewsFromInsite The asmx and wsdl files are accessible from Internet Explorer and also from Windows Console application. Here is the code which I use from console application:
GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient objWSClient = new GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient(); objWSClient.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;[code]...
Here is the error message:The request failed with the error message: -- <html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body> <h2>Object moved to <a href="%2fPages%2fproblem-with-page.aspx%3fc%3d500">here</a>.</h2> </body></html>
I've created a quiz web part in SharePoint 2007, but am stuck on one permission. It needs to write the quiz score to a list, which it's throwing an error now when trying. I'm under the assumption that if the web part has the appropriate permission level, the user's permissions (the quiz taker) don't matter. Is there a particular permission that should allow the webpart to write to a list? Specifically:
I have a custom control, inherited from Button. This is the class definition for the control and 2 properties:
[Code]....
I show you 2 properties, only to illustrate the problem.
as you see Aplicacion property is of a custom type Sistema, and Roles property is of type List<UserRol>.
The Aplicacion property is rendered well, this way:
[Code]....
The problem I have is with List<UserRol>. I couldn't get it to be rendered. I expeect to be rendered this way:
[Code]....
Finally, this is the TypeConverter and Editor definitions for the list:
[Code]....
The UserRol class is a typical class, without any special attributes.
I have discovered that when I use the custom editor for Roles property, the collection is not persisted. When I use the default editor for the collection, the collection is persisted.
In my controller I fetch a list of object 'object1' which has two fields field1 & field2.Now I have a model model1 which has two fields fieldsX & fieldY.fieldX = field1fieldY = dosomething(field2 also have a view model ViewModel1 which has a single fieldpublic List<model1> model2I need to send model2 to my view
I have create a asp:sitemap on my asp:masterpage. I am then populating the sitemap from an SQL table programmatically. Everything works perfectly except one thing - clicking on the items causes a new window to appear and the selected page opens in that new window. I need the items to open in the existing window. Perhaps sitemapnode - but this gave me some errors. The following is my code.
I want to create a custom control where I define several specifically named DIV sections. The code-behind logic of the custom control will perform operations on these named DIV sections. The page where the custom control is hosted needs to be able to add named controls to the DIV sections and perform operations on these named controls added to the DIV sections.
Let me explain a little further. In the custom control, I want to have code behind logic that fires the following Page Event and uses a condition to make one or another specifically named DIV section visible or not:
< _ ToolboxData("<{0}:BaseDetails runat=""server""></{0}:BaseDetails>") _ > _ Public Class BaseDetails
[code]...
how can I create a custom control which is able to generate the named DIV sections "DetailsNameDiv1" and "DetailsNameDiv2" where my custom control can check a condition and make one or the other visible. Also, I need to be able to add controls to these named DIV sections when I host the custom control and the control that I add to the named DIV section needs to let me set values of these controls from the code behind logic of the page (or usercontrol) where the custom control is being hosted (in my example, I am adding TextBox controls that I want to set the Text property from a SQL Data Reader).
I have currently on multiple pages a modal popup that displays the information below, we are getting to the point where we need to call this popup from multiple locations, currently i have duplicate setups on each page that i want to use it on, but its becoming a mess to manage when a change is needed.. so im looking to see if what i have within the modal popup can be turned into a control that i can call anywhere thru out the site and have just 1 setup to maintain going forward..If its possible to create a control that can then be placed within the modal popup and server the same purpose that would be great any links here is what i have within the modal popup that i have on atleast 3 pages currently..
I want to create a custom Toolbox in asp.net which will contain all custom control that i have made. Now the user will drag these controls from custom toolbox at run time and create form. I tried but did not succeeded.
I am trying to create a web custom control but I am unable to find the templete that should be in my projects window. I am using Visual Studio Pro and it should be there. Doc's say standard version doesn't have it but thats all I can find.
I'm trying to create a custom control that has a dropdown list and a required field validator in it.I've got as a far as being able to set the error message if the control fails to validate, but I can't actually get it to validate, not can I figure out how to call a .Validate method server side. This is driving me nuts! To create my control, I followed the article here I ran the text box example through, and I can get that to validate without any problems, so I then went through and created a new set of class files relating to a drop down list.Anyone got any thoughts, or hints as to what might be wrong, or where I should start looking?
We have several asp.net web applications we've built and we also want to embed them into various sharepoint pages. We need to have them look like standalone applications when viewed in their own pages, but also have them look like they fit within the sharepoint page when embedded. We are doing this currently with IFrames and it works ok, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of proxy web part where we can configure the web part to point to an existing web app and it will proxy the contents through from the web app into the sharepoint page removing the need for an IFrame. Possible?
When using SPWeb.GetCatalog(SPListTemplateType.WebPartCatalog), it returns an SPList which of course contains a SPListItemCollection of the web parts in the web part gallery. When looping through the items, is there any easy way to get properties of the web parts? Such as AllowClose, CatalogIconImageUrl, etc... I know I can probably accomplish this using the listItem.OpenBinaryStream etc and loading the xml of the .webpart file, but I wondered if there was an easier way to do this.
Ive integrated a custom asp.net web application into a Sharepoint site by creating a virual directory, that contains my web app files, that points to a directory in the Sharepoint inetpub folder.
On my local dev server I can access all my web app pages just fine by typing in /virtualdirectoryname/page.aspx
My Problem is that: When I deploy to my Live Test server that is internet facing, none of the pages that make a MS-Access database call will work.
The Error I receive is '[SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.Odbc.OdbcPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.]'
I have researched the issue online and tried numerous solutions which include giving all the assemblies in my application a strong name, and modifying the security policy to trust this strong name.
My Custom Web App consists of 2 projects
1. A Class Library Project (Data Layer)
2. A Web Application Project (Web Layer)
My .mdb database file is stored at root level within the Virtual Directory.
I have 1 class in the Data Layer (ClassConnect.cs) that when instantiated, creates the ODBC connection for all other pages to use (OdbcConnection dbConn = new OdbcConnection();)
I have a Connection String stored in the web.config file that is as such. When I deploy to the Live Test Server I change the path in this connection string, because I haven't figured out yet how to get a relative path that works.
I also place the dll's for my 2 projects in the Sharepoint bin folder.
Could anyone suggest what might be the dfference between my Local Dev Server and the Live Test Server and why I might be getting these errors.
i have created a custom aspx page whithin my sharepoint site with a sql server connection to a database on that server to select data when i view the page it works but when another user tries to view it it gives the following error :Server Error in '/' Application. Login failed for user 'GRINCORGuguK'.Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'GRINCORGuguK'.Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:
<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>
or:2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario. tack Trace:
