Feb 24, 2011I am using Forms Authentication in a new ASP.NET 3.5 Application.I have created the Tables in my database and run the Web Site Administration Too.When I try to create a user I get a password error no matter what I throw at it and I am becoming sure of that this is a symptom of an a setup error and not a password problem.One of the things that I notice is that my aspnet_Applications is empty and I am not sure what is supposed to fill it.I have tried to delete all the aspnet tables and done the procedure again but with the same result.

I just put yahoo for testing purposes. So basically I see "Click on the link below to activate your account" and then "Click Here" with no link.

So for example the home page is 'default.aspx'.The issue is that if I click on a link like the home page from the secure page, the url becomes https://secure.example.com/default.aspx instead of http://www.example.com/default.aspx.What's a good way to handle this? The scheme should automatically work using any domain name based on where it's launched from. 1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.

Jun 4, 2010I just finished setting up the environment for an ASP based web app on a Windows Server 2003 machine, IIS 6.0, ASP.NET 4.0., with custom service account.This is not a domain based setup, so I have created mirrored logins on both servers (WEB server and SQL Server 2005). Everything works just fine except the fact that every time I try to browse the main page, a login pop-up window will request login password confirmation. I tried many things so far. Making sure IIS is in NTLM Authentication mode, checking access rights for the local login I created, workarounds I found on MSDN, etc.
This happens only if I change the Directory Security to not allow anonymous access (Authenticated Access - Integrated Windows authentication only). If I keep both, or only anonymous, everything works fine.Is this the intended behavior? Am I doing something wrong here?I already tried everything I found on MSDN regarding these types of errors. If I do not enter a password for three times in a row, the error says "HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized - Access is denied due to invalid credential."

May 22, 2010I have a script that I am trying to trigger an AJAX AsyncPostBack and have been trying to figure out how to get it to work. After searching the internet for a while I noticed something on all the examples. On the asp:DropDownList they use the autopoastback=true tag. If I add it to my script it works fine, if I remove it it stops working. So my question is why is the autopostback required or if it is not what might I be missing? BTY Everything is in C# and .Net 4

Feb 17, 2011I have a gridview that contains a textbox, a drop down, and a checkbox. The commandfield of the gridview has ShowEditButton="true". All of the gridview updating takes place in the "_OnRowUpdating" event. I have a Panel above the gridview with a table and some fields. Everything in the gridview works perfectly, the edit, the update etc., however, when I add a requiredfieldvalidator to the panel above the gridview, the gridview update functionality no longer works. e.g., clicking the update button does not appear to fire. If I comment out the requiredfieldvalidator, everything works fine.
