Dynamically Generated Radio Button Calling CheckedChanged Event

Dec 6, 2010

I have a procedure that is generating some radio buttons and assigning a CheckedChanged postback event based on the level being passed through (up to 4 levels). When the first level is checked (radio button selected) the postback event rb_CheckChanged00() is called and a check is done to see if this item has any children, if it does, it will create more radio buttons and assign rb_CheckChanged01 to the CheckChanged event for these - This part is working fine.

The issue I have is when I select the second Radio Button that has been created (the child), it doesn't seem to go to the post back event at all. The page is posting back when I click on it but everything resets because it won't go into rb_CheckChanged01.

I know this info is quite vague but I am hoping someone has an idea on how the post back event works and if I am somehow using it incorrectly.

Button OnClick Event Not Firing With One Textbox In The Form

Feb 15, 2011

I came across a very strange occurrence with ASP.NET onclick event in IE (other browsers doesn't seem to have this problem). When there is only one textbox field in a form, the onclick event doesn't fire when you enter text and hit Enter/Return. The event does fire when you click on the actual submit button. When there are two or more fields in the form, hitting Enter/Return works just fine.

Script Generated Image Onclick Event Change

Mar 29, 2011

I have two scripts inside my webpage
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://somesite/somefile.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" >somecode('a','1z4j73');</script>
This script is generating a visitor map on my web page, now I don't want my user to click on the script and get redirect to that website. How can I restrict that? Can I make a div tag and make all element inside the div tag to read only? I have make sure that this restriction doesn't falls under company rules, they just want their logo under the map. Can I catch this through any event and again redirect the user to the default page? Like when user click the image, I check the URL and if the URL contains that site name I again redirect to the default page.

Forms Data Controls :: Create Textbox Dynamically In GridView And Retrieve The Value In Button Click Event?

Mar 24, 2011

I have a dropdownlist("ddlTemplate") control and a gridview("gvPlanning") control with 1 BoundField column, 1 TemplateField column and remaining columns will be generated dynamically from database.In TemplateFiled Column i have 3 image buttons viz: Edit, update and cancel.Gridview will be populated based on the selecteditem of dropdownlist.

if i click on edit imagebutton, i need to add textboxes dynamically in all the columns of that row except first 2 column. And if i click on Update imagebutton i need to retrieve the textbox values.we can add template field column for textboxes also, but why i am sticking to this method is.. the number of columns changes depending on the selecteditem from the dropdownlist. Eg: If i select india from dropdownlist the number of columns in the gridview would be 4 and if i select UK from dropdownlist the number of columns would be 9 likewise.

C# - Stop Setting Onclick Event For LinkButton If No OnClick Event Was Explicitly Defined?

Feb 25, 2010

How do I setup a default setting so that if I do not set an OnClick (i.e the asp.net OnClick attribute) explicitly for an asp:LinkButton tag, it will not render an onclick(html attribute for javascript) attribute client side? By default, asp.net adds an onclick='doPostBack....' for the LinkButton.

Case for use:

There is a LinkButton tag on the page. For this page, if the user has one friend, I only want to run client side code if the button is clicked and would not for any reason want to make a post back. If the user has more than one friend I would want a click to trigger a postback.

Using any asp.net Ajaxtoolkit

Dynamically switching the control type (i.e. if friends == 1 use a asp:Hyperlink)

-I want to avoid this because it is not scalable. There might be many cases where I want an asp:Link tag to do a postback or to not do a postback depending on the user context or user attributes Using OnClientClick (I am using jQuery would like to avoid this)

I tried to read using

var str = document.getElementById('txtHello').value;

It always returns null.

txtHello is the Id which I have given to the textbox when I generated it dynamically using javascript.

Web Forms :: Dynamically Generated Textbox Versus Static

Jun 2, 2010

I have a dynamically-generated textbox and a static text box. They both have enableViewState = false. On the web page, I enter "ABC" in both textboxes. In the code-behind I set both text boxes to "EFG" in the page_load event.

In debug in page_load I can see both textboxes say "EFG". This is what I want.

When I hit the LoadComplete event, the STATIC textbox still has "EFG", but the dynamically generated textbox has gone back to "ABC".

I went one-by-one through all properties on the dynamically generated/static textbox, and they are all identical.

C# - Button's OnClick Event Doesn't Fire

Nov 28, 2010

The following code is my ASP.NET page :

<MdsMenu:MenuItem Text="Button" Href="#">
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button 01" OnClick="Button_Click" />
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button 02" OnClick="Button_Click" />
</MdsMenu:MenuItem>

I don't know why Button_Click event doesn't fire!

protected void Button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Button senderButton = sender as Button;
Label1.Text = senderButton.ID.ToString();
}

MdsMenu:MenuItem is my custom WebControl. If I insert a Button control out of MdsMenu:MenuItem tag it works well but if I inserted it within MdsMenu:MenuItem tag it doesn't fire the concerned method. What's wrong with my code?

Understand JS Execution On Onclick Event Of Button

May 28, 2010

<input type="button" name="reset"
onclick="return ValidateValue(); __doPostBack('ApplyBtn','')" />

The above is the code generated for asp server button button control on browser. Now my query is that irrespective of ValidateValue() returning true/false __doPostBack('ApplyBtn','') function is not showing any effect for me. My understanding is that string passed to onclick acts like function body, and return will from first function will return control preventing second function from execution.
Is that correct?
