Currently we are developing an ASMX, ASP 2.0, IIS 7 web service that does some calculations (and return a dynamically generated document) and will take approx. 60 seconds to run.Since whe have a big machine with multiple cores and lots of RAM, I expected that IIS tries its best to route the requests that arrive in its requests queue to all available threads of the app pool's thread pool.But we experience quiet the opposite:When we issue requests to the ASMX web service URL from multiple different clients, the IIS seems to serially process these requests. I.e. request 1 arrives, is being processed, then request 2 is being processed, then request 3, etc
Currently i'm developing an apllication that sends sms via the asp.net. I'm using msmq for the queuing incase of multiple sending of sms. The wcf will then check for new queue and using teh queue to send out a sms. I've a few question.How do i create a new queue for the msmq via asp.net
I have data for Visa, Mastercard, moneybookers, etc. .. How do you propose to store data? In each table separately or not? You might like: 1 table that stores all the data and then call the information according to Visa, Mastercard, moneybookers, etc. Example: a table stored all data has deposit_options from each payment, or payments for each option do I need to each payment separately.
i am making a site like linkedini have a datalist which show the search of peoples from database. my problem is that, i have mixed data to show in datalist.suppose datalist going to show only 2 label values, first is "who" second is "type". who can be of 4 types just like linkedin search, "A student","employ",Bussiness owner", "working independent"when student is pick in one label from database then college will be display in second labelwhen employ is pick in one label then company will be display in second column.It means i cannot bind the second label at designtime. and even at run time i have to bind each item of second label with approprite to first label. bec search can be mixed, means if 10 peoples are searched, then may be someone is employ, someone is student, and second label should show value appropriate their first label.
I have a web application where users can upload the photo. I do have a windows service running which takes the uploaded photo and crops it to different sizes. This runs in a specified interval. Photo will be visible to the user once after it's cropped. So once user uploads the photo and photo cropper has not yet run, they wont be able to see the photo. Due to this behaviour user thinks that there was some error uploading the photo and they will upload it again and again.
where the photocropper runs immediately when the user uploads the photos which is queued.
i have 3 div tags.Each having no. of textboxs and button.Each textbox having validation.For all button causesvalidation property is true.If i click "button1" in "div1" tag will cause validation of other textbox in other div tags.I dont want to do this ? How to avoid this?
I'm going to try to explain this the best I can. I have a datalist that is displaying a large amount of data based off a CollectionID number. Within each set of data are CollectorID numbers. Now there can be several different CollectorID numbers tied to each CollectionID number. So therefore, the same data is being duplicated several times with the different CollectorID number. What I would like to do is concatenate all the CollectionID numbers into a string that are related to the CollectionID number and populate that into the corresponding label.
I've tried modifying the stored procedure to concatenate the CollectorID rows from the table they are located in but that seemed like a very large challenge.
My latest attempt involved removing the CollectorID from the original query. Then I wrote a datareader on the ItemDataBound event grabbing the CollectorIDs but it is missing the first CollectorID in each set.
The behaviour I would like is for a user to be able to visit a custom built website and if they are already authenticated against sharepoint for the custom website to know who they are and give them various rights. If they are not recognised by sharepoint then I would like them to login to sharepoint and be directed back to the custom website. Sharepoint picks its users and groups up from Active Directory. I don't know much about the internals of the server, but the custom one will be in a separate domain (I think) though I have full control over the custom and moderate control over the SP infrastructure.
We have a website with a huge amount of Cached objects stored in static variables within App_Code. Whenever we push an App_Code change to our production webservers it recycles the IIS pool and flushes the cache. It does not flush the cache however when we push out changes to .aspx and .aspx.cs files.
I need to have a bunch of classes that will be updated several times a day to be able to be referenced in App_Code. I would like either a section of my App_Code which I can update several times a day without cycling IIS and flushing my cache, or the ability to reference classes outside of App_Code from within App_Code.
I have problem in listview display data. If I am binding data in list view data is displaying in corrected formatted as i need.when i am add value from cs into list view label its not displaying into required format.add all value is displaying in single td. I want to separate it. Below is list view in which i am facing problem and want to separate matched record in different td.
if (!IsPostBack) { //con.Open(); //string bar = "select Id,MemberShipid from MemberShipDetails where Cancelled=0 order by MemberShipid"; //SqlDataAdapter dabar = new SqlDataAdapter(bar, con); //DataTable dtbar = new DataTable();
[code]...
if i am loading data into lable as above grid record displaying into on single row.if i am binding its displaying correctly. Why data is not populating in differen td.
If I watch the processes tab in Task Manager on the web server I see "cmd.exe" under the context of 'administrator' but it just hangs. For test purposes c:SendV80s.bat: copy c: oot.ini c:zzz.txt
If I logon onto the webserver's console and execute SendV80s.bat it works and exits without issue. But when I execute the same batch file via the Submit button it gets stuck executing in Task Manager/Process. I believe this has something to do with the fact that cmd is not running in a full environment/desktop context. I just noticed this on the actual console of the webserver (not in my RDP console but console 0 instead)
A pop-up box stating: CMD.exe Application error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application. And when I click on the OK button my ASPX page's WaitForExit is satisfied and the continues processing normally.
I know that similar questions have been asked all over the place, but I'm having trouble finding one that relates directly to what I'm after.
I have a website where a user uploads a data file, then that file is transformed and imported into SQL. The file could be up to 50mb in size, and some times this process can take 30 minutes or sometimes even longer.
I realise I need to palm off the actual work to another process, and poll that process on the web page. I'm wondering what the best approach would be though? Being a web developer by trade, I'm finding all this new Windows Service stuff a bit confusing, and I just wanted somewhere to start.
So:
Can I do / should I being doing this with a windows service? if so, how?
Should I use WCF? If this runs under IIS, will I have problems with aspnet_wp.exe recycling and timing out my process?
clarifications
The data is imported into sql, there's no file distribution taking place.
If there is a failure, it absolutely MUST be reported to the user. The web page will poll every, lets say, 5 seconds, from the time the async task begins, to get the 'status' of the import. Once it's finished another response will tell the page to stop polling for status updates.
queries on final decision
ok, so as I thought, it seems that a windows service is the best idea. So as to HOW to get it to work, it seems the 'put the file there and wait for the service to pick it up' idea is the generally accepted way, is there a way I can start a process run by the service, without it having to constantly be checking a database table / folder? As I said earlier, I don't have any experience with Windows Services - I wondered if I put a public method in the service, can I call it somehow?
I keep receiving an exception with the message "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". Im absolutelly sure that i'm submiting my correct username/pwd
I've developed a popup email .aspx used on our intranet based web app that is auto generated with .pdf's attached. I'm developing with VS 2008 ASP.Net 3.5 C# and System.Net.Mail.MailMessage. I can create and send the email with no issues. The problem is with any attempt to open or delete the attachments I get the above error. The .pdf's a copied with the following code:
FileStream fsr = new FileStream(inFilename, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read); BinaryReader reader = new BinaryReader(fsr); byte[] bytes = new byte[fsr.Length]; reader.Read(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); FileStream fsw = new FileStream(outFileName, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Write); BinaryWriter writer = new BinaryWriter(fsw); writer.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); // clean up writer.Flush(); writer.Close(); writer = null; fsw.Close(); fsw.Dispose(); fsw = null; reader.Close(); reader = null; fsr.Close(); fsr.Dispose(); fsr = null; Later after sending the email I: mailMessage.Dispose(); mailMessage = null; foreach (string fileName in attachments) { if (File.Exists(fileName)) File.Delete(fileName); }
The error occurs at: the File.Delete(fileName);
how I can delete or reopen these files after sending the email?
A few basic yes/no questions to see if I am expecting the impossible within VWDE:
At one point I thought I was given an option to create an external css file & have all styles automatically stored in the external file. Is there such a setting? ( Right now I have an external css file created & linked to the page, but as I work on the web page in Design view all new styles are created in the web page & I need to use the style manager to move them to the external file. )Can I tell VWDE to generate css for all formatting as I create a new table in the web page in design view? In other words, can I work strictly in web page design view yet have all formatting code - including the table layout - generated into the external css file?If I create style code for a web page table, does that style code need to be manually modified each time I add or remove rows from the table?Is there a VWDE funtion/tool to generate an external css file for an existing web page that contains embedded/inline styles? Right now I find that I need to individually move each style to an external sheet - i.e. Q1.If I were able in some way to create an external css file to handle all formatting for a given web page, would I have to manually create & maintain a second external css file to provide a printer-friendly format?Basically I have found so far that WYSIWYG editting in VWDE is ok up to a point, but support for CSS in Design view is very limited. It seems that if I want to employ CSS, I have to edit & separately manage CSS code rather than work in a WYSIWYG mode.
TI am hoping that even simple yes/no answers to the above will help me determine if VWDE is an exercise in frustration or worthwhile for me.
I have a .NET infra code running both within the IIS worker process and within a desktop client app. How can the .NET code determine whether it is running within an IIS worker process?
I know that I could check the name of the process (w3wp.exe, for instance), but I would like a more robust approach. I wish to make a side note. This is not a production need. I need this information to enable certain scenarios useful during the development and testing phase. Specifically to ease the testing of secure vs non secure configurations.
When I hit the run button (in my Default.aspx), a process starts (this process contacts a webservice to get some files, etc). How do I: Ensure that only a single process is running at a time (i.e. if I refresh the browser, I don't want to start the process a second time)Track progress - there are 4 points of the process (at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) that I want to track, and when each part completes, I want to update the progress bar. I have a status object for the running process, but the question is how to update the progress bar automatically? Do I need to use threads to achieve the above two?
My code is that I want to create a log file and log it upon a new user browsing the site. However, what i did was I put in a 6 second delay and then used another browser to access the page. And it threw an Exception saying it is being used by another process which is true. So how come I set it so that, if IT is being used by another process, WAIT and retry every 500 milliseconds until it becomes free/available?
here's the code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {if (!IsPostBack) // if this is the first time page loads, set k to 1 { lognewuser(); }}
I am having the text file which is used to track all the ip address which is available in the network and replace the content from"Reply from 172.29.116.3: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=255" to 172.29.116.3.
For this task i am having 2 functions 1.runCMD() Function is used to create a file which ping all the ip address between 3 to 254 ("Reply from 172.29.116.3: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=255").
2.Another function textFileReplace() which is used to replace the text from "Reply from 172.29.116.3: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=255" to 172.29.116.3.
This process will continue every 30 minutes..
But i am having the error while accessing the function textFileReplace() as The process cannot access the file 'C:inetpub' because it is being used by another process.
EDIT: ViewState does not change when browser is refreshed, so even if you write to viewstate it will not save the data. i am trying to store a Queue in a viewstate (to track postbacks and refreshes to stop a form from resubmitting). The Queue is only saving with a count of 1 (the first item that is added to it) no matter how many items i add.
// New Queue of strings private Queue<string> sTemp; private Queue<string> p_tempQue { set { ViewState["sTemp"] = value; } get { return (Queue<string>)ViewState["sTemp"]; } } //BasePage constructor public BasePage() { //create a Queue of string //sTemp = new Queue<string>(); this.Load += new EventHandler(this.Page_Load); this.Init += new EventHandler(this.Page_Init); } //In the 'page_Init' event we have created a simple hidden field by name 'hdnGuid' which is attached to the page on the first hit itself. protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { //initializing the hidden field //create a hidden field with a ID HiddenField hdnGuid = new HiddenField(); hdnGuid.ID = "hdnGuid"; //if it is the first time the page is loaded, create a new guid and assign it as the hidden field value if (!Page.IsPostBack) hdnGuid.Value = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); //add the hidden field to the page Page.Form.Controls.Add(hdnGuid); } //In the 'page_Load' event we check if the hidden field value is same as the old value. In case the value is not same that means it's a 'postback' //and if the value is same then its 'refresh'. As per situation we set the 'httpContent.Items["Refresh"]' value. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if(p_tempQue != null) sTemp = p_tempQue; else sTemp = new Queue<string>(); //The hdnGuid will be set the first time page is loaded, else the hdnGuid //will be set after each time the form is submitted using javascript. //assign the hidden field currently on the page for manipulation HiddenField h1 = (HiddenField)(Page.Form.FindControl("hdnGuid")); //create an instance of the GuidClass GuidClass currentGuid = new GuidClass(); //set the GuidClass Guid property to the value of the hidden field currentGuid.Guid = h1.Value; //check to see if the Queue of strings contains the string which is the current Guid property of the GuidClass //if the are equal, then the page was refreshed if (sTemp.Contains<string>(currentGuid.Guid)) { //adds item as key/value pair to share data between an System.Web.IHttpModule interface and an System.Web.IHttpHandler interface during an HTTP request. System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Items.Add("IsRefresh", true); } //if they are not requal, the page is not refreshed else { //if the current Guid property in the GuidClass is not null or not an empty string //add the new Guid to the Queue if (!(currentGuid.Guid.Equals(null) || currentGuid.Guid.Equals(""))) sTemp.Enqueue(currentGuid.Guid); System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Items.Add("IsRefresh", false); } p_tempQue = sTemp; }
I want to remove all elements from Queue A that are present in Queue N And end up with Queue R: 1, 2, 8, 12, 13. How do I do this in C#. Trying to work with someones API and they offer a way to get the two queues and I need to filter based on one queue returned.
Updated Code Example: I am using a custom data type ModuleDetails
