But how can I read each one of them in JavaScript because I want to populate the text boxes next time the user come to the form? I have tried this but it does not work:
var cookieName = ReadCookie("Name");
document.getElementById('txtName').value = cookieName;
Edit with Answer:
I used this code.
<script type="text/javascript">
function getCookie(c_name)
{
if (document.cookie.length>0)
{
c_start=document.cookie.indexOf(c_name + "=");
if (c_start!=-1)
{
c_start=c_start + c_name.length+1;
c_end=document.cookie.indexOf(";",c_start);
if (c_end==-1) c_end=document.cookie.length;
return unescape(document.cookie.substring(c_start,c_end));
}
}
return "";
}
function checkCookie()
{
Name = getCookie('Name');
Surname = getCookie('Surname');
Email = getCookie('Email');
Company = getCookie('Company');
Title = getCookie('Title');
if (Email!=null && Email!="")
{
//Populate the text boxes.
document.FormName.txtName.value = Name;
document.FormName.txtSurname.value = Surname;
document.FormName.txtEmail.value = Email;
document.FormName.txtCompany.value = Company;
document.FormName.txtjob.value = Title;
}
}
</script>
And called the checkCookie() function like so from the window.onload
I want to create a custom attribute to check if the browser has cookies and javascript enabled. I'm guessing I would create a ActionFilterAttribute that would redirect to a controller action to load a page to check cookies and javascript on the client side. If they are enabled then it would redirect to the desired action, otherwise display an error message. Is this a correct approach or is there a better way to do this?
I'm handling cookies using JavaScript to store some values in my asp.net web application.I use document.cookie to save some values (converted into a lengthy string). But i want that value to be accessible across all the pages in my application.When i try to get that value from a different page, i get the values pertaining to the document in the current URL.
In short i save the value in the cookie in http://myapp/doc1.aspx and want to retrieve it in http://myapp/doc2.aspx
So is document.cookie is pertaining to a single document scope? How can i save/read cookies across the site?
Update.This is how i get and set cookies
function getCookie(c_name) { try{ [code]...
But i'm getting different values for the cookies in different pages.
here i have code for write cookies in computer but i dont know where is store in local pc , i know it write some where b'caz i can read this cookies also but where it save in local pchere is code
'Create a new cookie, passing the name into the constructor Dim ContactId As New HttpCookie("ContactID") Dim PWDID As New HttpCookie("PWDID")
I have a web application (SnapshotServer) which uses a WebBrowser control to take a snapshot images of a web page.
I use a WebBrowser control within SnapshotServer to navigate to a entry page of a secure web application (ImageHost) and then redirects me to my required page.The ImageHost application is protected by FormsAuthentication, which uses cookies. The entry page I navigate to takes care of logging me in - which will create an Auth cookie.
Once a response is generated from the ImageHost, I convert the result within the WebBrowser control to an image.
Issue:
When I run SnapshotServer on my PC (Windows 7, IE8), using IIS7, and navigate to ImageHost on my development server (Windows 2008 R2, IE8), the result is as required - I'm logged into ImageHost and redirected to the page I want an image of. When I run SnapshotServer on any Windows 2008 R2 server, using IIS7, and navigate to ImageHost on my development server (Windows 2008 R2, IE8), the result is not as required - ImageHost fails to log in - so my image is of the login page. The reason it fails to log in is that it isn't creating an Auth cookie.
So I'd like to know if anyone can tell me why the WebBrowser control, when run from a Windows 2008 server, cannot create cookies.
I would like to set the Login which will log auto when he return to site, if the user hasent logged off the site.and if he enter the site again he'll be logged in already.
I have an asp.net login control and I have implemented the user name to be remembered using cookies. How can I use Jquery(javascript) function to detect cookies and set the focus on the password field?
In my website I m using third party cookies i.e. when i logged in then I m accepting cookies from third party through javascript.
Now all done well in firefox and other browser except IE. After doing some r & d i found that default settigs from IE doesn't allow accept third party cookies.So after settings "Allow All Cookies" problem is solved. But now my concern is that is there any way that end user do not have to settings manually in IE ?
how can I create stored procedure and write my select statement in it, I know how to create dataset then put type stored procedure and assign it to the sp ... what I want is writing my sp... how can I make it ?

I've been assigned changes to make to an ASP.NET project. The WebForm I'm working on needs to dynamically display and hide controls in response to user actions.
So far, so good. My approach would be to create a little JavaScript. However, on this page, the markup is part of a template for a Telerik control (which I know nothing about). I'm not sure the ramifications of this. Can I still use JavaScript for templated markup?
I tried to insert some existing JavaScript in the page. The first problem I have is my use of <%= ControlName.ClientID %>, which produces an error because the name of the control in the template is not seen to exist by ASP.NET.
Is there another way to do this, or am I just going to run into more problems?
Since everyone yells at me that MessageBox doesn't work when the project is uploaded to the server, I need to migrate to javascript alert box. As I was changing my MessageBoxes, I tested and found that they weren't being produced. I'm not sure if it matters, but they are in a try/catch block, which is shown here:[Code]....
This all worked before when I had MessageBox - it showed, then the page redirected when I clicked Ok.
I either don't understand how try/catch works, the javascript isn't adding, or Response.Redirect is executed before I can see the alert box and click Ok on it.
(just as a note, everything works fine, but the alert box doesn't show)........if I add the (javascript) code before the try block, the alert box comes up, so it's not something wrong with the writing of the javascript or executing it at least (I think).
Im pretty new to NUnit and am beginning the process of setting up my tests. Some of these test involve a database, specifically checking a particular value against a value in a database and if its not greater than the last retrieved value, flag an error. Whats the best way to test in this scenario ? should I write one value to a database then create another value thats out of sequence and run a database query ? This would involve putting a known value into the table, then running the query with another value.
There is no rollback attribute for nunit, so I gues using TransactionScope would work, that way I could return the database to a known state after the test. There tables have foreign keys so that means adding a lot of extra 'dummy' data first to some of the other tables. Is this sort of 'testing' the best way ? I basically need to perform the test based on an existing data value and I guess this must be pretty standard stuff, so whats the best way ?
As I understand it, the tests should be self contained, so any data i insert into the database during the test should be removed afterwards, is this correct ? If so, it means I need to insert test data into 6 additional tables just to test one function, then remove it after the test has completed, is this the normal way to to this ?
how to prepopulate an outlook email's body and subject using the mailto: form of an anchor tag.
What I'd like to see is some examples of Outlook automation code on the server, that creates an Outlook template file (.ost?) and binary writes it to the browser - the browser recognising the extension and firing up outlook with the template.
This is internal and the user will definitely have Outlook.
yes client side must be java script but my qustion is not that.i am asking that can i use c# language to implement "actions" fired on "click side events" such as mouse over the reason for this question is that i remember some syntax of registering functions for particular events of formview, which are call when the event occurs (yes there ispostback involved" is something like the above possible for client side events using c# or even vb.net
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Label3.Text = "this is label three"; Label3.Attributes.Add("OnMouseOver", "testmouseover()"); } protected void testmouseover() { Label4.Text = "this is label 4 mouse is working!!"; }
The thing is that, the first if statement works fine and the 'javascript' shows an alert and close the window, but in the second if statement the javascript shows the message but doesn't close the window.
