I am using assembly Microsoft.ReportViewer.Webforms Version=10.0.0.0. However, each time I build the solution it adds Microsoft.ReportViewer.Webforms Version = 8.0.0.0 by itself. I tried removing Version 8.0.0.0 reference manually and tried building it again but it keeps adding the later version.

In VS2008 C# web applications when using Microsoft Reportviewer to create an embedded rdlc report you can generate a report on the screen but when you try to send that same report to the printer by clicking the printer icon on the toolbar you get an error stating:

I have the error mentioned in the subject...I've had the same files for few months and it never gave this problem. Nothing in the files or code has changed.....and I have this user control on a lot of pages and every single page is giving this error.Sometimes,when I run it locally it doesn't give the error but it works randomely but when publishing it to the server, it does not work at all...gives the same error.Please help in identifying what may cause this all of a sudden??

I specify 9.0.0.0 in everything. The only concern I have is that the build server uses .NET 4.0 but I have specified to build with 3.5 and on my deployed server I have the 9.0.0.0 dll files for the report viewer. why the server is looking for 10 when everything says 9?
I have a gridview that is bound to a dataset via dataview in a webform. I have added some controls alongwith logic in my webform for filtering the gridview at run time. I would like to pass this filtered gridview results to a Microsoft reportviewer so that my boss could print the report. What would be the best way to accomplish this? I would like to have gridview on one page and report viewer on another page. But I don't know how to refer to that gridview from another page.

Is there any component of the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack that could be used by an end-user (i.e., not a coder, a business analyst) where they can drag and drop tables/columns onto a canvas and create reports themselves? I've been looking and can't seem to see anything I would want to give to an end-user.
I am trying to find something that is like the Cognos Report Studio/Query Studio products. They are pretty intuitive and users are able to create their own reports without the of IT. They can drill through folders, pick columns, drag them onto a canvas, sort the data, filter the data, group the data, add titles, all without having to know SQL (joins are made automatically).
I've looked at PowerPivot but that seems mostly targetted at OLAP users. What I am looking for is the ability to create list style reports with charts etc.

We have used Ajax toolkit combo box in one of our application. We have used two Ajax toolkit combo box in an aspx page. Both combo boxes are populated while loading the page. Combo box 1 has list of items and based on combo 1 selection, combo box 2 is populated. This requirement is implemented within the updatepanel and only partial page rendering is done on combo box 1 selection.
This is working fine when the list of items are populated at the time of page load.
We have provided an option to add new item in combo box 1 and combo box 2. When new item is added in combo box 1, it calls iteminserted event. Since it is a new item, it does not have corresponding items in combo box 2. When we add new item in combo box 2 it submits the page (partial rendering). While it gets submitted it throws following JScript error.
"Microsoft JScript runtime error:
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: '<combo box id>' has a SelectedIndex which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.
Parameter name: value"
We are unable to resolve this issue.

View 5 RepliesFor many of the pages I build, I don't wish to have the ReportViewer visible until firing an event such as a button click. Using .Net 4.0 and ReportViewer10, however, throws the error "Message: Sys.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: panelsCreated[1]" if you try to keep a panel containing the ReportViewer hidden until after a button click.Since I couldn't find much about this topic online, I'd basically been working around this for some time until I figured out today that if you reset the ReportViewer ReportPath in the code behind in the button click (even if it's the same path as in the aspx page), you can successfully keep the ReportViewer hidden until the button click.
