Web Service Returning Xml Data Using Jquery Works Fine On Local But Not On Server?
Jan 4, 2010
I am having a webmethod that returns some data.I'm using jquery to call that function with its Content type specified as XML.The problem is that it is working on local machine but not on server.The code i'm using is:
var arrInputs = pnl.getElementsByTagName("input");
str = arrInputs[0].value;
$.ajax({[code]....
Ajaxfinish is defined afterwards and it works fine on local.Is there some more settings i need to do to make it executable
I have ran into an issue that has me stumped. I have a jquery / javascript function that loads when my site is loaded. It calls a service in my project and returns a string of data.
[Code]....
The code that handles the web method is shown here:
[Code]....
This is something I have done similar multiple times. The problem however is the code works fine on the local devbox how ever when I move the project code to the prod box I get a response back with the following:
[Code]....
One note this is the first time I have done this targeting .Net 4.0. Is there an issue with relative url's using .Net 4.0, or VS 2010 that I have missed?
So, I've been working on an app that extracts a picture from an ole field in an old access xp db, converts it to a jpg picture, and saves it to a folder to be presented to the user.
After tweaking some permissions on the local iis, the application works fine.
In the remote one however, the application doesn't extract the picture as expected.
I'm using two dlls on there, although I don't know why it wouldn't work.
I have a solution that has 2 projects in it... Project #1 is a class I created some time back to deal with the basic data connection and passing data back and forth.
The 2nd project is the new current project (web site).
Everything works fine in local mode but after I have compiled Project #1 and created a referance in Project #2 then compiled Project #2 and published to the server...
I am running on Windows 7 64bit, .NET 4.0, Access 2010, SQLExpress (loging only), C#... I have rebuilt Project #1 several times as an x86, AnyCPU, and x64... they all give the same result...
I get the following error when the web site is run.
I have different iFrames on my page and one of the iFrame has pdf plugin that shows the PDF document and i have another iFrame that pops up on delete button click and a function to toggle the iFrames. It works fine in Firefox but in IE my pop up iFrame is always behind the PDF. Any thought how can I set it right, there is some issue with the z-index of PDF, it is set to infinity something like that in IE !
I can't believe the number of issues that seem to work fine on test but completely crash and burn on production.I have a situation where the code works fine in the test/development environment, but when you press a button in production, it crashes with:
[Code]....
Its just a button push, that is suppose to rebind a quantity change back to the database that the user has changed in a textbox in Gridview Edit.
In my site on every load some session is made through url and single page(say xyz.aspx) is call every time and on the basis of url we create session. When i click on a href tag , page start reloading ,url we created is accurate but data doesn't change every time, means some time it show data on first click, but some time after 3 or 4 click.
I say problem is weird because when i run this on my local server there is no problem, when i run this on my project (visual studio) there is no problem , but when i up this project on my online server it show this kind of error but not every time .
I use data caching to fill dataset. There is no problem in this website since we created this (more than 1 year) and we don't made any change on this page but suddenly it starts showing this kind of error so what kind of error this is.
Well I am having a problem when I have put my .NET 2.0 web site on IIS 6. I have used UrlMapping to redirect some old urls. It is working fine when I am using it on the VS local server port but when I deploy it to IIS 6, its giving a 404 Page not found error.
I've found that in a few forums they are talking about using Wildcard Mapping, but none of them provide me with a good explanation of how to achieve this. Added to this, what are the security risks of doing such a modification on IIS Level (if there are any?)
I am working on ASP.NET Ajax site. Application is working fine when I run in my local machine, but same code if I place in Server then it is giving "SpanID is undefined" Javascript error. I found error is due to UI.dll file.
I have a problem with getting jquery to retrieve results from a WCF service. I am hosting the WCF service within IIS and when I attach the debugger to this process I can see that the code is processed successfully. However, when it hits the callback within jquery there is no data??
I have set up a trace on the wcf service and there are no errors. It just seems as though the data is lost after the wcf service method completes.

I'm using VS2010 and on my local machine, using web.config to map one url to another works fine, using the tag. However, as soon as I upload to the IIS6 server it doesn't work at all! Is there something about IIS6 that doesn't support this feature?
Did you have any issue to show background images in a gridview with IIS 7. I've exactly applied this [URL] and I've no idea why, my css works for the header but not for:
The alternative row has no background image and the pager too but it works for the header. But when I browse the website online from my laptop, without IIS it works fine. When I check web developer tools from i.e., I've the backround image written in the css so it should come up.
I have used a dll named MARCEngine, which is used to read Marc data. I use a method named MARC2MARC21XML which converts a normal marc file to an XML file.
The problem is it works great on my local IIS, but when I upload it to the production server, it only generates the root node and not the child nodes.
Here is a snippet of my sample page :
[Code]....
Asp.net has the permissions to access the files geneated.

i think this has been asked before but i just cannot figure this one out. I have added a global.asax file to my project (using asp.net with c# from vs2010) and works great on my local machine. then when i publish to our site (i publish to ftp site and then copy from the ftp folder into the site folder overwriting old files) and it doesn't work... at all. i am using 'windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise'.
I have html editor on page, ajax 3.5. I can save Editor.Content to xml file without problem, after I publish to server machine, It refused to work for me.
my page directive set to ValidateRequest = false and EnableEvenValidate = false and AutoEventWireUp = false, no UpdatePanel used around Editor and update button. on code behind which is button click event.
Dim docInfo.Load(Server.MapPath(xmlInfoFilePath)) docInfo As New System.Xml.XmlDocument() Dim ndInfo As System.Xml.XmlNode ndInfo = docInfo.SelectSingleNode("/info/business[@user='" & User.Identity.Name & "']") If ndInfo IsNot Nothing Then ndInfo.Attributes("description").Value = Editor.Content docInfo.Save(Server.MapPath(xmlInfoFilePath)) End If docInfo = Nothing
This button click generate an error on server side. I guess the problem Editor.Content have hidden tags, the server refuse to accept, but what is real problem.
I am using the following Web method.. its work fast on local host , but on Domain hosted server .. its works odd , i;e; some time its work fast about (1-3 sec) and some take about 10-14 sec to process.. how do i make it work properly and fast..
here is my code
[WebMethod] public static string DisplayMessage(string name, string price,string obj, string id) { SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["eshopConnectionString"].ConnectionString); //Creating Delay""
how to create a Web service that returns a JSON(or JSONP). That also should be able to work for cross-domain access aswell as for a local call.. help to get this working or for a few links for further reading about this
I have a search box on a web application that is to use a query I have built in Access to search through projects to find any that are related to the text entered in the search box.
The query in Access is just made up of parameters that use wildcards to search through all the fields. In Access the query works fine and returns the correct data but when I try and link this all up to a ListView in Visual Studio, the ListView just diplays the message "No data was returned"
Below is my page-behind code, hopefully you can see why it is not working but it looks like it should work to me.
I had code on Download.aspx for downloading different type of file like doc, xls, pdf etc. I usually call the page to download a file. In one of my instance i am calling this from a java script code which works fine for [URL] but if I put ipaddress instead of localhost then its not working.
I'm trying to add a "max-age" header to my response. It works fine on my Visual Studio Development Server, but as soon as I move the app to IIS (tried both IIS express locally and IIS on the server) - the header disappears.
My code:Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); Response.Cache.SetMaxAge(new TimeSpan(1, 0, 0, 0));
VS Dev server response (all works just fine):
