Does Paging In Gridview Make A Database Call When Its Page Gets Changed?
Mar 18, 2010
When we set allowpaging=true and specify the pagesize=xx, and when we change the page of the gird view then, does paging in gridview make a database call when its page gets changed ?
So I have a repeater which binds page numbers. That's all fine. I need to know how to make the paging so that they are in "chunks" of a max of 10 page numbers being displayed at a time. Then if they select a page number, it will show the previous x pages and the next y pages (within the 10 chunk range). similar to google paging I guess. Not using pagedDataSource/gridview/gridlist! This is just purely getting the page numbers.
I have a system set up to lock certain content in a database table so only one user can edit that content at a time. Easy enough and that part is working fine. But now I'm at a road block of how to send a request to "unlock" the content. I have the stored procedure to unlock the content, but how/where would I call it when the user just closes their browser?
i test it in one page it work correctly but when i want use it in product.aspx page it didn't show image i think in my page there is some code that prevent to showing image from database but i can't find it
I've created a C# function which extracts data from an mssql database, formats it to a json string and returns that. Now I need to make a call from my javascript (jQuery) slider through an aspx page that is related to the C# code file. I have actually never done anything like this before, from what I could tell by googling I need to use xmlHttpRequest, but how exactly do I make the function get hold of this string? It would be awesome if someone had some example code that shows how this works.
Am I missing something? I'm trying to do a simple ajax call using jquery to a web service on my site and I get a 500 error every time when I make the call from the master page. Has no one ever made an ajax call from a master page or am I just crazy and extremely deprived of sleep?Example:
I have a grid view where the user can change pages at either the top or the bottom of the grid view. I want the view to go back to the top whenever a user changes the page, whether they are changing from the top or the bottom. I've tried using anchors and javascript to achieve this but it does not work. The javascript is executed and the user is taken to the top of the gridview, this can be seen by placing an alert after the javascript to change the view. But the last thing that happens on the page change is that the window is returned to it's previous position (the bottom of the page). Is there any way of doing this?
I have a list of items that loads when I call the page controller and I have an Ajax.BeginForm that calls the same (Index) Action. If the Action sees that it's an Ajax request (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) then it returns a partial view. I even have a div that contains a message about the results loading. That all works fine, but my results can sometimes take awhile and I'd like to hit the page first and then make the Ajax request so the user sees the page quickly and sees the "loading" message. I know I could click my filter button (triggering the ajax call) using jquery on document.ready, but is there a more MVC way to do this?
The code does not give any error. I can see it set the visible property to true/false. But actual control on page remain same (always visible on every page).
I have a gridview with paging. I have a style set for a selected row (highlights the row in light orange). What i would like to do is that each time a user chamges the page, the selectedIndex & selectedRow automatically becomes the 1st row of the selected page. So i would like to see the orange highlight on the 1st row of the page to indicate that the row has been selected.
I have tried GridView1.SelectedIndex=0 but this only seems to select the index of the 1st record in the whole datagrid. Does anyone know of how to set the 1st row of the page to the selected row each time the pageindex is changed?
I need to databind the gridview inside the Ajax UpdatePanel each time user types letter inside my TextBox control. How to override the TextChange event to force it do postback for me?
<script type="text/javascript"> function ace1_itemSelected(sender, e) { var hdCustID = $get('<%= hdCustID.ClientID %>'); hdCustID.value = e.get_value(); </script> [code]...
Is there a way to use the GridView paging and having the links not use JavaScript. So that when you click on the page number 5 (for example) that link is a hyperlink.
I'm having a bit of trouble with Paging within a GridView grid I have set up. I have added the paging but whenever I click on the next page or the last page buttons, the page refreshes and displays blank (i.e. no gridview but my regular search parameters are displayed.
I was trying to search for a solution throughout the web and came across someone that looked to have the same issue. He moved all of his queries into the Page Load method, and the paging seemed to work. I cannot do this because I have 2 different buttons: Search and My Order, both of which perform different queries based on if a date has been selected or what the search is on (Order Number, License Number, Description, Status, etc).
My paging method looks as follows:
[Code]....
From what I can tell this is an issue with no longer having the data set when making the paging call. Is there anythign that I can do?
I have a Gridview all setup and even though I have the paging working it takes select the page twice in order to switch the page. Basically my code is as follows:
I have a gridview control on a .aspx page (content form).
Paging is enabled on gridview control. It displays the page numbers at the bottom of the .aspx page. When I click on a page number say 3, I get error saying the "Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: The GridView 'GridViewReconresults' fired event PageIndexChanging which wasn't handled."
Do I need to write special code to handle the paging? Because there is a grid in another page and it has bound columns and I didn't write any code for paging and it works perfectly fine.
Here is the code in the .aspx page that I have problem.
I do long and slow query to get data to my GridView and I got lot of data, but when I'm changing page it loads as slow as at the start, it loads full data again and again, how to load data once and use paging without data loading?
Also the gridview 1 and 2 the datasource is an SqlDataSource.
but that didnt work . also tried some things in pageindexchanged and pageindexchanging but still no efect :(. and also tried with enableviewstate = false / true on both gridviews with diferent combinations, but still no luck.
the code works only when i have allowpaging = false, or when im on the first page of the gridview (for the first time) is that the number of coments is pasted into the label.
I had implemented the Ajax timer control to update Gridview data(along with Progress bar inside Gridview) after some interval of time.Below is the full code:
HMTL:
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" Runat="Server"> <%--style & Script for progress bar in Gridview --%> <script type="text/javascript" src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="//code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.4/jquery-ui.js"></script> <link href="css/jquery-ui.css" rel="stylesheet" />
