I have some broken links on my site, and will keep having new ones on regular basis. How do i write a centralized code in web.config or something for 404 then redirect to home page? I am using aspx, vb.net and IIS7

I have a web app with loads of pages and most of them require some session variables in order to function.
i want to put some defensive code in my app. where is the best place to put somethign like:

Response.Redirect("~/default.aspx");

EDIT: how do i check if the current page is defult.aspx?
I am using asp.net and when I type a bad url manually(in the browser) it gives me: The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. I want a bad url that doesn't exist to be re-directed to the home page. How do I do this?

i m having problem with logout code in asp.net with c#. this logout code should end session, disable browser's back button and and if somebody try to login by paste the url of any user account page.i used this code in login page

EDIT ~ Updated the title and the question body: This is the edit. I want this behavior per-app on IIS6/7. I asked it initially before we migrated to IIS7, so any answer can be altered between the two (I've learned a bit about IIS7 since then ;] ) but I am looking for an answer that does work. I need to redirect per-app not per-server based on the user canceling 401 Auth request (meaning 401.1 error code). On IIS6, using NTLM Authentication (meaning Integrated Windows Authentication) if the user cancels the authentication request, how can I redirect them to another page? I can't just grab 401 (tried) or 401.1 (not an int) in the web.config.
I can't redirect if the issue is a 401 status because I'm intentionally pushing for a 401 to get the response, yeah? So how do I capture when they canceled on the browser challenge? To confirm that I'm being clear: If I open firefox and navigate to a IWA page, it shows me a dialog (assuming I haven't configured that away in about:config) and I key in the windows credentials to use. I want to prevent them stopping that box.
I am having a small problem with my links on the master page. I have inserted 5 link buttons on my masterpage. In every link, I have set the PostBackUrl to the corresponding page. In the link click event, I have also written the C# coding: Response.Redirect(). When I run the homepage (that is using the masterpage as a template) and click on one of the link, I get this error: Validation of viewstate MAC failed.....
What should I do to fix this error?
For my current project I am using form authentication.What occasionally will happen is a user will timeout (unbeknownst to them),they try navigating to a different page (call it Page B) and they get kicked back to the login screen.This is fine and I have no problems with this.
However,after they enter their credentials and are authenticated they are redirected back to "Page B" and an error is produced because a session variable wasn't loaded. This is due to the fact that they were redirected to "Page B" instead of the page they would normally hit after a login (call it Page A).Is there anyway to force the user to go to Page A instead of Page B in these situation to avoid these errors?

I'm trying to throw the exception back to Page_Load but the throw statement causes error: ArgumentNullException was unhandled by user code. How can that be fixed? Also, I can't see Label1.Text displayed on the page after the ArgumentNullException occurs because the page is not re-load. If there is no exception, it's fine to not reload the page. How can I see the Label1.Text displayed?

I have a dynamic data bound drop down list, when the user selects thier selected item I have to use the autopostback feature.
Problem is: when the page comes back it is at the top of the page not where i have the control.
I don't really need it to focus back on the dropdownlist but to scroll to it, I want to do it in the code behind.
Any "New" ways to do it, I mean new as in code from like 2010 instead of old code from the early days.
I really don't want to use Page.Register new Script...... code if I can avoid it.
What would be cool is a ScrollToControl() Function for my code behind that worked but didn't register script.

I have a user registration form. Here I have link to another page (card info page) which has to be filled for the registration. User fills the few fields in the user registration form and click on the link that takes to card info page. When user clicks the link in card info page to navigate back to registration page, the previous details entered in registration got vanished. View 6 RepliesI have an edit page which is used from different sources. After editing I would like to redirect user to original page. Earlier I used ID (given as a parameter) and Action (hard-coded) to redirect user to certain page, but problems occurs when many different pages can access the same edit page.
Should I store complete URL and pass it as a parameter? Are there any known issues with that (string length etc.)?
Does a response.Redirect first postback to the page that's calling the redirect before actually redirecting? I don't think so but my debugging is showing me that it is.
I can see it doing so and that causes me a problem. The problem is this:
1) My page has an asp.net button on it
2) When the button is clicked, the page posts back of course. Then the following is called in the event handler method for that button:
Response.Redirect("Checkout?frpp=1"), true);
3) But I notice that when the redirect is called, it first goes back and hits the page load for this page, the page that's doing the redirecting. Well that is causing me problems because it's calling code that I don't want it to be calling again such as this:

so it's like I'm doing a 2nd postback:
first postback happens when you click the button, hits the event handler, runs my handler method which calls the Redirect. Redirect is called but it's doing another postback to the same page here..why?
Im using asp.net c# (webforms) I want to add a back button to my page. (you land on this page if you incorrectly fill in a form). if javascript is enabled i want to go back via javascript, but if it is disabled i'll just do a response.redirect("~/home.aspx"). how can i implement this? is it 2 buttons? how can i hide the other in the 2 different states if so.

Context: user can add products to its own account.
User tries to add a specific product. (He/she is not login at this point.
In the code behind, I need to redirect the user to login page before I can add the product to user's account.
After login, how do I take the system back to the logic to finish up the action in step 1.
How would I go about to solve this:
When the user clicks a button and the user has been inactive for too long (session is gone), then redirect the user to the login page and back to the current page after logging in?

I've got a HomePage.aspx page - user clicks "NEW PROJECT" and they get brought to the NewProject.aspx page.
While on this page they click CONTINUE buttons on the page that move you through 3 stages of CASE creation.
If they click BACK - the BROWSER BACK button - I want to pop up a warning.

Flickr does something like that. When you click on the "in the last minute" link and see recent photos - then click reload several times - each of those reloads does not go into BROWSER BACK history. If you click BACK you are back onto the initial [URL] home page.
