I have a page with a SqlDataSource and a GridView which displays products (Title, Description, Price) pulled from a SQL table (let's call it Table1). I have added a TemplateField with a DropDownList so the buyer can choose how many they'd like. I've also added a ButtonField so the user can click to add the items to his/her shopping cart. All this works really well. The inserting is done in the Code Behind into Table2 (the code for this is provided below)
I then have a second page (ViewOrder) with a SqlDataSource and a GridView which simply displays the contents of Table2.
Here's the problem. If I add three Product 1's, ViewOrder displays a row with 3 product 1's. That's fine. But, if I then add a further 2 Product 1's, ViewOrder now displays TWO rows, one with 3 and one with 2 OF THE SAME PRODUCT.
Now, as it's the same product, I'd like ViewOrder to display ONE row with FIVE Product 1's.
Here's the code which does the Inserting into Table2:
[Code]....
myVal is the SelectedValue of the DropDownList and MealValue is a calculated value of the unit cost * myVal.
I want to insert a record into a log table ONLY if one exact copy already doesn't exist within ten days, what is a good way to do in one stored procedure what I do above in two?
I'm trying to combine two charts ( Column & Spline ) using MS Charts 3.5. When i run the page the second series of the Spline chart is not visble/working.
Here is the code
string connectionString2 = "server='myserver'; user id='testuser'; password= est'; database='DBs'"; System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection sqlConnection2 = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(connectionString2); string queryString2 = "SELECT TOP 10 NAME, VOLUME, CLOSE FROM Com WHERE NAME IN ('LEAD')";
I have two tables (Person and Location) In the Dynamic Data Site, when adding Location info, I am need to choose a person from the dropdown box which is populated via a FK. That dropdown box defaults to the field in "Person" that is titled "fname" which is first name, so it looks like "Jim" or "Steve".
I'm trying to have that dropdown box display the full name of the person it references which would be combining the fields fname and lname.
Would I do this inside a Field Template? Metadata? I'm kind of stuck on this.
If I look at the FieldTemplate for ForeignKey_Edit I see this:
[code]...
and it seems like I should be able to make something similar to "PopulateListControl" and use that instead, but I have no idea where this method even resides.
I have a Customer Table that has many fields - two of which are FirstName and LastName.
I have a TyapedDataSet that is is linked to the CustomerTable
I have BusinessLogic layer that looks at the Typed DataSet
On my page I have an objectdatasource back to the BusinessLogicLayer and a dropdownlist
Currently, the dropdownlist displays the LastName and has a value set to CustomerID.
I want the display to be LastName+', '+FirstName instead of LastName
My question is where do I create the field called FullName - Do I open the MS SQL table and add a field called FullName -- but I think if I do this then when I add data I have to duplicate FirstName and LastName info. Do I add a field (column) to the dataset?
I combined MVC and DD by creating a new DD project and adding the MVC stuff (references, routing, usings, etc). The list of tables on default.aspx (from DD) will show all tables, including the ones with [ScaffoldTable(false)]. The URL's of the tables with Scaffold==true have the expected form (DD/TableName/List.aspx). However, the URL's of the tables that should not be shown are in the form /Home/List?Table=TableName. If you leave out the MVC routing (Routes.MapRoute) then the tables with Scaffold(false) are not shown. Or you can leave out only the Parameter defaults.
My guess is that Dynamic Data determines if a table is visible by checking to see if a route can be made to for the List page. The DynamicDataRoute will not match because that will not generate a route if Scaffold==false. BUT THEN the MVC Route WILL match because of the Parameter defaults at the end. Am I correct and is this a bug or am I completely missing something here? EDIT: I fixed it by adding filtering the VisibleTables on Scaffold like this, but that's a workaround...
System.Collections.IList visibleTables = MvcApplication.DefaultModel.VisibleTables.Where(o=>o.Scaffold==true).ToList(); My RegisterRoutes in global.asax.cs: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { DefaultModel.RegisterContext(typeof(studiebase2Entities), new ContextConfiguration() { ScaffoldAllTables = false }); routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.Add(new DynamicDataRoute("DD/{table}/{action}.aspx") { Constraints = new RouteValueDictionary(new { action = "List|Details|Edit|Insert" }), Model = DefaultModel }); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults ); }
I'm using a standard GridView control inside of a web form. The web form uses a master page. The application is running within sharepoint (wss 3.0) environment. When i attach both the OnRowCommand and OnRowDatabound events to the gridview as shown in the markup below, only the OnRowDataBound event fires. The OnRowCommand never gets hit. When i press a button on a row, it posts back but never hits the onRowCommand event and simply falls through and repaints the page . However if i remove the OnRowDataBound event, the OnRowCommand event starts to fires correctly. I've tried a number of things...1. Hooking up the events in code instead of markup. (inside of PageLoad or PageInit)2. Changing the order in which the events are attached.
I have a problem with DetailsView linked with Database, DetailsView is Insert/Edit enabled, and adding/ediditng data works, however........ when I add a new record (DetailsView in Insert mode) and press INSET instead going to record I have just created in Read-Only Mode it shows me blank form, it looks that the "linking" field is null.
I use GridView & FormView to update a record. but when I click the "save" button, throw an except : FormView must be in the insert mode to insert a record. The record has been updated success, and I didn't change the mode of the FormView, how this error comes?
In my detailsview, I have an emptydatatemplate set up to allow users to enter new records. The code works. However, once the record is inserted, the detailsview defaults to a standard insert screen. I know this will cause confusion for the users. I would prefer the detailsview to either show in edit mode or a read-only mode. I have used detailsview.changemode and detailsview.currentmode in the custom sub created for the add new button of the emptydatatemplate- neither of which do what I was hoping. It would be even better if when there was no data, it defaulted to the insert screen (which seems like that should be an easy, no-brainer way for .net to function) but it doesn't. Or, I don't know how to accomplish it.
I don't want to force the user to click cancel after inserting an item through the emptydatatemplate just to be able to use the detailsview for other records.
I have grid view in ASP.Net 3.5. I need to add multiple blank rows in a gridview and then have to save them in database. How can I do that in most simplest way?
I am using Visual studio 2010 express and I have a details view databinded to an sql database table. When I use the Insert option on the view it causes an error due to it trying to insert a null into the primary key field. If the Insert function does not create a new primary key entry how is it created?
I have a Winform that has fields need to be filled by a user. All the fields doesn't belong to one table, the data will go to Customer table and CustomerPhone table, so i decided to do multiple inserts. I will insert appropriate data to CustomerPhone first then Insert the rest data to Customer table.
I am working on an asp.net page and I want to load the contents of another web page and place it in a panel. This is the kind of thing that you can do with curl, but I need a native c# solution.
I have a dataset which I am binding to a listbox. However, I want to combine two of the fields to make up the DataTextField. Is this possible, or am I going to have to loop through the Data Rows?
Combining all pages in One Page , its good? its fatser than put each page as independent page !
if some one visit modern website ( Such as windowslive website) you will find that there is one page and on the left hand of page u will find list(collection of Buttons) if u click inboxbuttin, the only portion of the page is refreshed and so on , and u will not navigate to another page (the URL remain Unchanged) and other website like (asp.net) u notice that , in evey page u will see full postback , althougth this page conain the same controls ( logo.. home... profile ....etc) why they didnt combine them in one page?
and finally what is the best thing to do that? Create UpdatePane and puting each Page Controls inside Panel and make them all hidden and adding them to ContentTemplate of UpdatePanel and Making some Panel Visible and Hide other Based on required scenario ? if yes , i have do it in one page , when it was as independent Page (StudentRegister.aspx) its run fast althougth this page contain big logo and many controls that take time to loaded but its run fast, but when i put StudentRegister.aspx controls inside my updatePanel which will act as container for all other Pages , the Page run slow , althougth the Logo and many Pics and controls not refreshed and only the Portion of page refreshed . there is any new technology used to do that?
Is it possible to design a page in Expressions Web and then use it in Visual Studio Presently, I am using an asp.net master page in Visual Studio with functionality from the VS tool box (navigation tree, login etc). These work fine but they are not very pretty. How can I keep all the functionality that Visual studio offers (I will be adding an SQL database) but have it looking better than the drag and drop tools in VS. Is it possible or not to connect an Expressions Web Master page easily, so it will drive the site already built in VS - but have a more attractive GUI?
Or, is there something that I am missing in Visual Studio - can I edit the drag and drop tools in there to build a GUI with a Microsoft feel and look?
I'm developing a web app which allows users to upload images. Instead of forcing them to first download an image I also want to allow them to provide a URL of the image elsewhere on the web.
I've got the code to do this, my question is how can I combine these into one text box that will allow the user to enter either the location of the image on their hard drive or the location of the image on the web.
I'm aware of the ASP File Upload control - but how could I leverage it to do this?
