ADO.NET :: Error - The Type Of One Of The Expressions In The Join Clause Is Incorrect
Nov 10, 2010
here is my code:
return from c in db.TBLcharacters
join o in db.TBLjobs on c.char_job equals o.job_title
orderby c.char_lastname descending
select c;
The goal is to print out the job title from the seperate table when I list the names of the Employees. So in the final formatting on the view it would be John Doe [Janitor] (or something similiar)
But when I make the build I get the following error:
The type of one of the expressions in the join clause is incorrect. Type inference failed in the call to 'Join'.
What I find wierd is cjar_job and job_title are both varchars so the type is the same.
i have a radiobutton list and i want the select statement of a SqlDataSource to change according to which radiobutton is selected. My code is as follows
[Code]....
It is giving me the following error when i put jon in the Text Box provided for searching Incorrect syntax near 'kae'. Incorrect syntax near 'Jon'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Incorrect syntax near 'jon''.Source Error:

I put a server side button on the header page. The website is running fine. I use the same source and put it on IIS, it's also working fine but the problem is, i couldn't compile it anymore using my VS studio. It's showing no error so when I go and check the output (after scrolling down a bit and found one line says error). it says
C:InetpubwwwrootAmFraserIntranetheader.master.vb(31,0): error BC30506: Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types.
C:InetpubwwwrootAmFraserIntranetheader.master.vb(32,0): error BC30451: Name 'keyword' is not declared.
keyword is the textbox on the header page. I also played around with AutoEventWireUp (true/false) and defining onclick event on the server tag but it is still not solving the problem.
I know I'm missing something here but I can't figure out what it is. I've got a query joining three tables....accounts, payments, and a table linking the two (there is a M:M relationship).I'm trying to pull a list of all accounts in the account table that have a payment that needs to be resequenced, and also the maximum payment priority if there are any payments that haven't been fully paid. If all payments HAVE been fully paid, I want to return a 0.
It's that last bit of logic that I can't get right. If I include that in the where clause, I get only the accounts that have a payment that hasn't been fully paid. If I take it out, I get all the accounts I get, but I get the highest payment priority whether or not the payment has been fully met.
Here is the query....how do I include the where clause criteria but still include all accounts?
I've tried to override error message when input incorrect data type in input field on HTML form.For example I have the model like this.
public class Person { public string FirstName {get;set;} public int Age {get;set;} }
For view, I put text input for Age to get it value.When type some string in Age text box like 'test' and press submit button. I got this error message ,The value 'xxx' is not valid for AgeHowever, I want to change this message and try many way. There 's nothing effect this message value.
I can select IQueryable<object-type> data fine from a data repository class and push it into a list type MVC view, but how do I do this and group that data - I don't seem to be able to find any examples on this.
I have a ListBox that contains userNames which is inputted by a user during run time. This number of items in the ListBox is dependent on the user's input. These userNames will then be used in a Lambda expression like this:
var vHandleResult = vHandleResult.Where(a => a.UserName.Contains("userName"));
This works fine when there is only 1 user in the ListBox but doesn't produce the correct results when there are multiple items in the listBox. I tried manually creating the expression which should be written as this:
I tried forming the "a.UserName.Contains("userName") expression as a string which is dependent on the number of the items (using foreach) and then just plug in the resulting string in the expression but it seems that it doesnt accept string as an expression.
I am working with a sql server database with about 50 stored procedures. The database and stored procedureswere not created by me. The stored procedures all begin with a number in their name.
Example: 17P_Comsetter
The problem I am having is that if I try and execute the stored procedure at the command line in Query Analyzer,the query analyzer appears not to like that the stored procedure begins with a number. For example:
If I try an run the stored procedure as follows:
EXEC 17P_Comsetter
Then I get the following error message:
Msg 102, ..... Incorrect Syntax near '17'
I am using SQL server 2005. Does anyone know why I am getting this error message?
I am not able to understand what is the problem with My sql ..as same query is run sucessfully while i use SQL Server 2005 whit out any Exception or error.........
Select Count( Date ) From Attendancemaster Error in SELECT clause: expression near ')'. Unable to parse query text.
this is very simple query run sucessfully in SQL Server 2005 but not in
MY SQL and giving Error..and the query on which any datetime avar comes in WHERE clause allso generate error always....?
I'm working on asp.net web application & for this use MS access for back end, My Query is given below which is successfully executed on MS Access but error on front end ("Syntax Error in FROM Clause")
select USER.EMPID as EMPID,USER.FULLNAME as FULLNAME, USER.USERNAME as USERNAME,Employee.ROLEID,ROLE.ROLENAME AS ROLE FROM USER inner join employee on user.userid=employee.userid inner join role on employee.roleid=role.roleid WHERE USER.EMAIL='admin@itiersolutions.com' AND USER.PASSWORD='cZdqAEeDV2EVzA1JNFJ6hQ==' AND USER.STATUS='Enable'
My published site's pages appear to be unformatted, i.e. incorrect font type and sizes as well as objects that are not correctly aligned and of incorrect width when browsing the site with IE10. On my development platform, Windows 7 Professional using Visual Studio 2010 Professional, running in debug mode and also using IE10 the entire site appears perfectly formatted.
I've already confirmed that all CSS files and the relevant connection strings area correct and ensured that the font being used is installed on the hosting platform.I just used my MacBook and browsed the published web site using IE 9, Chrome and Safari - the site displayed and functioned 100%. I repeated the same test using Safari on iOS and again had perfect results. It thus appears that the problem relates to IE10.
To write a join query with or condition. It means a query has two inner join, here it is possible to fetch the records, if one inner join is true and other is false. I got a record when only two join conditions are true.
I'm trying to build a linq2Entity/gridview function for a forum, that draws data from multible tables.The result should be: Get the latest 10 threads that user(xx) has replyed in, that is not disabled or has a subject that is not allowed.Include information on the last post, thread owner user, and last post user, in each thread. ere is my code... is returns the correct threads and some that should not be there.
I have some text files I need to parse in order to display my data, and what I have now are two text files with lots of redundant data. Instead of this I would like to replace the redundant data with a number referencing the text in another text file.
I have a gridview which I'm trying to get the display of phonenumbers listed in a certain display format; (xxx) xxx-xxxx.If I have the code such as this, it displays the unformatted phone number and (000) 000-0000 for the null items.
I have an asp.net web site where I'm trying to resolve what looks like a problem with ASP.NET AJAX:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.ArgumentTypeException: Object of type 'Sys.Extended.UI.AccordionBehavior' cannot be converted to type 'Sys.UI.Behavior'. Parameter name: instance
I've googled around a lot, and looked at the code presented (see below, no idea what it means) but no luck.
I've tried changing scriptmanger scriptmode to release, and a bunch of other things too.
Details:
Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET 4.0 Ajax control toolkit 4.0 jQuery 1.4.2 jQuery UI 1.8.5
JS Code the error occurs in, inside ScriptResource.axd:
dispose:function() { var c=this; b.UI.Behavior.callBaseMethod(c,eb); --------- this line var d=c._element; if(d) { var f=c.get_name(); if(f) d[f]=a; var e=d._behaviors; Array.remove(e,c); if(!e.length) d._behaviors=a; delete c._element } }
*Update: * Added accordion control declaration as requested, is there anything else I can add that could be useful?
Does anyone have any idea about this error at all - am I right in thinking it's MS AJAX not playing nicely with other javascript (probably jQuery UI) on the page?
I seem to be having issues with posting forms with DropDownLists. I've looked all over the net and tried various solutions, but none seem to work for me.
I'm getting the following error: The parameter conversion from type 'System.String' to type 'Models.Organization' failed because no type converter can convert between these types.
Here's my ViewModel:
[Code]....
Here's my controller:
[Code]....
The objects are generated by ADO.NET Entity Framework. Organizations is its own object, but also a property of Profile (each user belongs to one organization). Now I understand what the error message is saying, just not sure how else I'm supposed to do this.
Dim cmdSelect As New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("SELECT [counts] FROM [a1_holds] WHERE (dates ='" & TextBox1.Text & "' BETWEEN from_date AND to_date) AND service ='" & lab5.Text & "' ORDER BY [id] ASC", SQLData)
Below is my query for Access.. Which it is saying Error Message ( Join expression Not Supported )
SELECT PatientMst.Name AS [Patient Name],REPLACE(REPLACE(RIGHT('0'+LTRIM(RIGHT(CONVERT(varchar,Appoint.Time,100),7)),7),'AM',' AM'),'PM',' PM') AS [Time],Appoint.Ptid,Appoint.Aptid,replace(convert(varchar,Appoint.Date,106),' ','-') as [Date] FROM PatientMst INNER JOIN Appoint ON PatientMst.Ptid = Appoint.Ptid and Appoint.Date = ('03/21/2010')
i am getting this error incorrect syntax near ',' when i try to insert row in sql database through vb.net. the same command works for all tables but i get error in this.
