AJAX :: 2.0 - Out Of Memory Exception When Browse The Site From IE7 In WinXP Machine
Nov 17, 2010
I am encountering a weird message 'Out of memory at line : 6' in a web application, which is in production, all of a sudden. The application is built with ASP.Net 2.0. The page which throws this error is constructed as below:
Master Page
Main Page (Error displayed here)
Tab Page 4
Update Panel
User Control - Main
User Control - Child 1
User Controls - Sub Child 1
User Control - Child 2
There are six tab pages in the tab control, which is designed as a wizard and this error is thrown when navigating from Tab 3 to Tab 4. Tab 4 contains ModalPopupExtenders, Cascading Drop Down Lists, and Collapsible panes in user control. The Web Server is Win2003 SP1 with IIS 6.0. The browser is IE 6.0.3790.3959 SP2. When tested in firefox 3.0 the error is not thrown. When the site is browsed from IE7 in WinXP machine, It throws Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException with error code 12152 or 401.

I have a strange problem with ASP.NET. Several sites on my web server run the exact same application. The application has a page that contains a Tab Container from the Ajax Control Toolkit which in itself contains a Calendar control.
If I set my culture in the web.config to be:
<globalization culture="en-GB" uiCulture="en-GB" />
Then everything works fine. However, by changing this to:
<globalization culture="en-US" uiCulture="en-US" />
When attempting to load the page I get an out of memory exception and w3wp.exe seems to use all available memory.

Problem:
This problem occurs only in one client machine running IE8. I believe that it is a configuration/component problem because I also running IE8 and it works fine. Following error message pop up every time when the button is click inside the update panel. It occurs once I try to click a button inside the updatePanel. Controls inside updatePanel disappears, and the updateProgress keep running.
I tried so many solutions including following
Changing the Web.config with "~/scriptResource.axd" There is no timer control from AjaxControlToolkit on the page. I have checked modified dates, which are correct on the AJAX Control Tool Kit assemblies as accepted.if (typeof(Sys) !== 'undefined') Sys.Application.notifyScriptLoaded(); I have tried many other options with out any luck.
Looks like the required ScriptResource.axd file is not getting loaded on that particular client machine due to some reason, which i can not find out. This problem occurs only in one client machine running IE8, that's making testing problematic for me.
My Configuration includes the following .NET Frame Work 2.0 with AJAX Control Tool Kit Library (1.0.61025)
Error message :
Error: [Exception... "'Sys.ScriptLoadFailedException: Sys.ScriptLoadFailedException: The script 'http://gateway/ApplicationName/ScriptResource.axd?d=pXGxsCxfFpN7YoDKJe9ANJUGdhhEYXdDvlJNvZyr3dWA3jxhYKmHBTZXvAXPr8NFAZhv6MOINf4Ktd7XCgzHFg2&t=633372084573906250'

I'm not sure why but on random occassions after I have added an update to my site via ftp and then try to access the site through the browser I get an "out of memory" exception. But there are no infinite loops or problems like that. Then after some time it will then work (I assume the web hosts restart IIS or something) and all is fine again. Server Error in '/' Application. Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I can't find much information on the System.Threading.ReaderWriterCount, as it seems to be the problem. What is the likely cause? Or failing that what's the best next step to work that out? Based on the pointer from the given answer I had a look at ReaderWriterLockSlim. I wasn't using it directly, but I saw that it had 88684 instances, digging deeper I saw quite a few classes with that number of instances, pointing to AutoMapper.MappingEngine. This should be a singleton, so I've had a look at where it's being created. I suspect that it's the DI container and have made some changes around that to see if it helps

Basically what I am trying to do is have my webpage project folder located directly on my local machine (ex. Local #1). Our database is located on a server (ex. Server #1) . I am building my web applications on my local machine and then trying to debug them in Visual Studio 2008. Only every single time I click to debug my project I get a "Security Exception" error that looks something like the following...
"Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.
Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."
I'm somewhat leaning towards the fact that I need to connect to the database to pull information from it and I don't have the proper permissions is the reason why this is happening but I've also read that it can be something that deals with improper configuration of my Web.Config file (i.e. I do not have something enabled).
Note #1: A co-worker of mine is having the same problem if he tries to put the project locally and then debug it. He has full administrative access to the DB and everything else.

The code: Response.Write(System.Environment.Version.ToString) prints out 2.0.50727.3603
After checking in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_.NET_Framework_versions I found out that the ASP.NET version is 2.0 SP2.
How can I set my project to ASP.NET 3.5 ?

Using IIS 7.5, IIS_IUSRS is supposed to be the account to use. I get '401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials' error. If I add an EVERYONE account with Read, it works. But rather not have Everyone account. Any idea why IIS_IUSRS does not work? It has Read access. Anonymous Access=enabled. Specific User=IUSR As a side, on the Basic Settings... for the site, Test Settings button says 'ok-on Authenticate' but Authorization 'cannot verify access to path'.

Ive got to go back to an old web application project done in VS 2003. I know 2005 will convert it, but I've never had a lot of success with it, so I'd rather just stay in 2003 for this minor change. Anyway, my original system that I did this work on has changed too much and IIS isn't working anymore, so I decided to use an older laptop that I had just recently refreshed with XP Pro SP3. After installing IIS (and the front page extensions) then installing VS 2003, IIS refuses to work right. Any attempt to access it yields a security error. I havent even loaded my project on this machine yet, so this is a straight IIS problem.
Specifically, any access to localhost results in a login dialog being displayed for which no valid login will work. Once I cancel, I get a 402.1 error.
HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration Internet Information Services Here are a few things I've tried.
I ran asp_regiis -i from the 1.1 and 2.0 framework directories.
Reset iis a few times with iisreset
Altered the security settings on the inetpub directory. previously some users did not have any permissions, and the ASPNET and IUSR accounts were not added. I added them and gave any user in the list Read/Execute permissions.
I know the error is very vague, but thats what makes it so annoying. I'm drawing blanks and the only thing I can think of is that SP3 just doesn't work with 2003 any longer. I'm building a VM with a brand new SP3 install to try again and another with SP2 as we speak to see if I have any better success.
