AJAX :: CalendarExtender Popup Position In Google Chrome After Page Scrolled Down

Jan 26, 2010 10:50 AM

I'm having a problem with the CalendarExtender's position in Google Chrome ( (36714)) when a page is scrolled down such that the scrollbar position is > 0

For example, if you use Chrome to goto:

- Scroll down so that the "Calendar Demonstration" subheading is just below the top of the browser rendering area.

- Click the first TextBox labelled "Default Calendar"

- The CalendarExtender popup appears with it's top edge at the very top of the page instead of below the TextBox.

The same happens when you click on the 2nd TextBox or on the button trigger for the "Calendar with an associated button" example.

It seems that the "top" css value of the resuting popup div isn't being calculated with the scroll position taken into account. Running the same example in Firefox results in a "top" value of 391px, with the Chrome value being 273px.

AJAX :: CalendarExtender Position In Chrome And Safari 4?

Feb 07, 2010 06:06 PM

I am using the CalendarExtender and I've found it works fine in all browsers except for any version of Google Chrome and Safari 4.

In these browsers the calendar appears either on top of the textbox or near the top of the screen instead of under the textbox.

You can reproduce this behavior by going to: http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/Calendar/Calendar.aspx

Popup Window Is Not Working In Firefox And Google Chrome?

Jan 27 10 at 6:13

I want to open a popupwindow (with close button only) when the user clicks a button and the parent window should be disabled until the popup window closed. For that I'm using the following code

function popup_window(url) {
popupwin = window.showModalDialog(url,null,'height=20,width=150,status=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,location=no,menubar=no');

Anyhow, this code is working perfectly in IE. But, I hav two problems. In firefox, it is not opening with the size I've mentioned in the script. It is opening in full size. And In Google Chrome, parent window is not getting disabled.

AJAX :: Position Of ValidatorCalloutExtender In Chrome When Scrolling?

Nov 15, 2009 09:50 AM

I'm using the latest Ajax Control Toolkit (v. 3.0.30930) on the ASP.NET Framework 3.5 and noticed strange behaviour of the ValidatorCalloutExtender when it is activated after scrolling down the page: in that case it is positioned too high. Luckily it only seems to happen in Google Chrome. IE and Firefox work fine.

It's easy to reproduce as it even occurs at the official demo page:

1) Go to http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/ValidatorCallout/ValidatorCallout.aspx using Google Chrome.

2) Scroll down the page a bit.

3) Enter anything in the Name field.

4) Press Submit.

5) The ValidatorCalloutExtender saying "Required Field Missing" is mispositioned now.I've been playing around with the positioning work arounds described in

http://forums.asp.net/t/1489927.aspx and http://forums.asp.net/p/1414449/3112561.aspx but it didn't make a difference for me.I suppose this needs to be fixed in a next release. Page Loads Twice In Google Chrome

Jan 5 10 at 21:05

Does anyone have any problems with Page_Load being executed twice in Google Chrome?
It's a short question, i do not know what else to explain...

I have a simple asp.net page and in Firefox and IE all it's working fine.
But in Chrome the Page_Load is fired twice...

Later EDIT:
- what is strange is that i have 4 repeaters... binded with random values. The random methods are twice fired (because of page loaded twice) but the repeaters takes the INITIALLY values...so, the 2nd post back is somehow raised after the rendering step.

3rd edit: It happens ONLY at the refresh!

Solution (in my case): There was an empty img src, and that was the cause

AJAX :: Strange Issue With Google Chrome?

Dec 09, 2009 04:03 PM

I am not sure whether the issue I am facing is Ajax related or not and whether this is the right forum for this question at all. I am encountering a strange issue while testing newly developed web pages on google chrome. To give you a brief idea, my web pages allow user to perform search based on search criteria selected using different drop down lists on the page. Search result displays links to web pages on different site. The requirement is, if user clicks any of the links to visit those web pages and clicks browser back to come to search page, the state of the page should be maintained. That is the drop down lists should display same set of options with same selected option and the same set of search results. I have disbled page caching so that when user clicks back the page is submitted to the server. I store the search criteria in server side cache and use it to set the drop down list values again. I debugged and made sure that all the drop downs are assigned proper values. But when the page renders it does not display some previous values in drop down lists. It also shows strange behaviour after that; that is if I select a value from drop down the actual displayed value is different (for example if I select state of CA it will change automatically to the state of WA). Note that the pages work as expected in IE and Firefox. I am developing the web pages using asp.net and am using microsoft ajax. I am using ajax to filter the drop down options based on previously selected drop down options. For example if US is selected as a country then the states in US will be displayed in drop down option list.

AJAX :: HoverMenuExtender Not Working In Google Chrome?

Jul 13, 2010 10:14 AM

I have a GridView in which I have item,Edit ,Footer and Empty Item Template , and also a hovermenuextender to show Edit/Delete link on row hover. when my page opens if it doesn't have any data it show empty row , when user enters data and click on Add button it save's the data and load the grid. All works fine in IE and firefox but not in google Chrome.

After saving data in chrome all links stop working , but when i reload the page it workes fine if i remove the hovermenuextender it works fine in chrome also, So i think hovermenuextender creating problem in chrome when it's added at runtime(if empty grid comes hovermenuextender will be added after data saved)

Google Chrome To Full Page Reload On Postback?

Sep 27 10 at 3:20

I am creating one of my first Asp.Net tools and I ran in to a small bump. Currently I am doing a postback on a buttonclick which does some server-side calculations. The server-side code then uses those calculations to alter the contents of a div. In IE and Firefox when a postback happens, the div updates as expected. However, in chrome all postbacks do a complete refresh of the entire page. What is causing this and is there a way around this behavior?

ClientSide I have the following..
<asp:Button ID="Button2" Style="float: right" runat="server"
OnClick="S_ButtonClick" Text="Calculate" />

Which calls a method summarized as so.

protected void S_ButtonClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
//Code parsing values from textboxes ect.
//Do Some Calculations
//Output Results
outputDiv.InnerHtml = "<h2>Foo</h2><br/>";
outputDiv.InnerHtml += "Bar: " + calcValue;

It is possible that when this postback(if I understand this correctly) happens, that it is still fully reloading in firefox and ie, but it doesn't show it. This effectively masks the postback. However, when I test in chrome, any postback completely blanks the page before reloading the state. Hopefully this clears up exactly what I am asking. Also, my C#/.Net usage might be slightly flawed and I am willing to take comments on such.

I have tested the code in IE and safari, this two browsers never prompt out the validator callout first when the page is loaded.

i wonder why the google chrome will prompt out the validator when i validate the cascading dropdownlist. I have did some research on it, but failed to get any solution.

AJAX :: Adjacent Combo Boxes Take Space According To Their Data On Google Chrome

Aug 28, 2010 07:22 PM

I have a page where I want to keep several combo boxes adjacent to each other. I have put them in divs that are floated left.

This works fine in IE, Firefox. But when I render the same page on Chrome I observe the uneven gap between combo boxes. Upon analysis I found out that each combo box is occupying space based on the data inside it.

This happens because on Safari and Chrome, the option list control is placed differently as compared to that on IE and Firefox.

Please see the following code from ComboBox.pre.js (in AjaxControlToolkit source/Server/)

This is how it looks:

I have tried doing the following but none of them helped:

Changed the RenderMode of combo box to 'block' from 'inline'Commented the lines above in combobox.pre.js
Basically, as per my study, unlike IE and FF, on Chrome, the outer combo box div occupies space as the width of absolutely placed ul present inside it which anyways doesn't seem to be a correct implementation.

AJAX :: Set The Position Of A Modal Popup?

Dec 20, 2006 09:37 PM

While playing around with that modal popup extender just to see its capabilties, I found a difficulty in positioning the panel (which is the control that pops up as a modal window) in a place other than the center of the page .I initially tried defining the style atribbute of the panel itself (eg: style="position:absolute; top:200px; left:200px") and didn't work. I then tried applying a css (containg the info about the position in class) to the panel which again didn't work. It seems that the modal overrides the settings regarding the positioning and always places the panel in the center of its container.

AJAX :: Position - Reverting To The Default Position When Data / Images Are Added To The Page

Dec 15, 2009 08:03 PM

I am having a problem with a page that incorporates AJAX reverting to the default position when data/images are added to the page from a PHP link directed at a MYSQL database. The page is just a bit too tall to fit in the browser window and some links must be scrolled to to be accessible. When a link on the lower portion of the page is clicked, the data loads without refreshing as it is supposed to, however the page has lost its scroll position. Is there any way to prevent this from occurring? (currently the href is set to #, perhaps there is some js i can use? or is my only option to add an anchor point to the dive and have all my links directed to the same anchor point?)

AJAX :: HoverMenuExtender Popup On Gridview Row Looses Position When Scrolling Down?

Nov 20, 2009 07:57 PM

I have a web application developed in VS 2008 using .NET 3.5 and using the latest stable release of the AJAXToolkit (30930).

All over my application I use Gridviews to display information with popup row level menus that popup at the edge of each row using a hovermenuextender control to control the opening of the menu. The contents of the menu are decided at runtime based on various
attributes in the gridrow. All of this works great in IE8 (in or out of compatability mode) and Firefox. But under Chrome OR Safari (latest releases), the popup menu is offset by the same amount the current main page is scrolled down by. I.e. if I am at the top of the page with several gridrows visible, hovering over each grid row with display the desired menu appropriately. But if I scroll the main page down lets say 50px, hovering over ANY gridview row will popup that row's menu 50px higher than it should be - scrolling down further makes it worse until finally the menu will always appear at the top of the page. It seems to me that there is some sort of calculation not happening within Chrome or Firefox to properly offset the menu for the position of the main page (all my gridviews are content within a content placeholder page referencing the same master page).

I've seen various old posts discussing similar issues with no resolution. Currently my popup CSS class looks like:

Two suggestions I had read were to ensure that the CSS class had 'display:block;' which made no difference. [Code]....

Web Forms :: Popup In Google Calendar - Page Slows Down When Lot Of Events?

Oct 17, 2009 01:16 PM

I have written a caledar site which enables users to create/add an information rich event. I have had two major issues. one- SQL linq. if there are a lot of events added to the calendar site , it will cause the calendar page very slow (4 or 5 seconds). For loop in SQL Linq has got some known issue, I reckon. I replaced the codes with oledb data mothods. OLE db codes completes the for-loop instantly. Fixed now. two- Ajax popup extender. Same problem. if there are lots of events added to the site, it will cause the page browsed very slowly. I'd like to replace the ajax extender with java, jquery or something similar to one of event handling features in Google calendar. how to do it? I am not sure it is called 'popup' as well. The popup(?) should disappear if a user click area other than the popup shown. Not hovering either. I want one exactly like the google calendar event popup feature.

Iframe's Content Being Positioned Off Screen When Page Is Scrolled Down?

Oct 19, 2010 06:57 PM

I am developing an application in which I have a page and at the bottom of the page there is an Iframe and inside of it is a Facebook login button and a asp.net login control.

When I scroll to the bottom of the page where the iframe is and then I put my mouse cursor in the username textbox of the loging control and having loged in before; when I type the first letter of my username under the text box apperas a kind of 'autosuggest' box with my user name in it...

That 'autosuggest' type of box (which is standard of a textbox) which should show right under the text box actually shows up 6 inches below it because I scrolled the page. In fact once it is displayed, that 'autosuggest' box stays fix in its position and I can scroll the page up and down with my mouse roller and the text box goes up and down with the page but the 'autosuggest' box stays in its place without moving...

Also the facebook login button when clicked generates a login dialog box inside a browser popup. But when I have it inside he iframe and the page is scrolled to the bottom when the iframe and the facebook login button are then the popup actually apears off screen, way, way down and low on my computer screen so much so that I cant even see it. I know it is there because of the taskbar..

With Google Maps, Can Use Google's Own Popup Windows

Jan 11 at 15:50

I've implemented a google map with points and stuff that uses an address that the user inputs. When you click a point, the popup bubble appears with the name and address in.Often this name and address is a prominent location, as it's used for meetings and things, such as a university. If you google the address yourself on maps.google.co.uk then you get google's own popup bubble, which often has a photo, information, opening hours, links to directions, reviews, etc. etc.I am wondering if there's a way to use that popup dialog instead of my own, where it is available. I can't see anything in the API to do this.I'm using V2 as we support IE6 in a lot of our users, but I've been told recently I can upgrade to V3 should I need functionality from it.

WebParts And Google Chrome

Oct 4 10 at 11:17

I started learning ASP.NET these days. Google Chrome is my default browser and I'm also testing my applications in Google Chrome.

I recognized that some Elements of ASP.NET won't run in real time when I use Chrome. For Example ASP.NET WebParts. If I change the modus of the WebPartManager from default to edit (or something else), Google Chrome needs 1 - 2 seconds to renew the page. Internet Explorer does this in real time without any loading times.

I'm a rookie in ASP.NET and many people said, Microsoft's AJAX for ASP.NET is some kind of crap.
I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and maybe you'll say, I should use jQuery instead of internal Features like WebParts.
