AJAX :: Calling Server From Javascript And Have Access To Page Server Controls?
Nov 4, 2010
I need to make an ajax call from my javascript and access a control on my page. Using a webmethod wont work then since it's static, do I have any other options?
i have used PageMethods to access the server side functions in javascript , but now my problem is that with pagemethods your controls will not go throught the full page lifecyle and these leads me to have "Object not set for an instance of an object" error. Now can someone come with a differnt approach without using pagemethods. What i want is to call a server side function , i dont want to pass any parameters to it
I get this error "The server method xxx timed out." calling a WebService that internally does a hard query to the database, and takes some time. I use this method to change the webservice timeout, but it does not seems to do anything (the timeout errors appears in less than a second). MyService.set_timeout(100000);
I am using Ajax's EnablePageMethods way to call server side code using javascript. The problem is that in IE8 the page automatically refreshes after the ajax call has been completed i.e. the server side function has been executed successfully. I want the same to happen with Chrome and Firefox but it doesnt refresh the page once the server side function has been executed.
I am using this way to call server side code from Javascript -- [URL]
I'm using this Ajax script [URL] to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.
I've searched the web for about 10 hours now, and I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
I have created a table adapter in DAL. I have created a gridview in the page and want to fill the gridview with a table data by calling a method. My table has 11 columns but i want to display only 2 columns of the table. My getSong() method has a query as Select title, category from Muisc. But it diaplyas all columns with no data except title and category and the autoincrement primary key column with negative values. The pic is given below. How can i solve it?
How to call server side event(textchanged) in javascript. When the user enters the data in text box and directly closing the page with out allowing the textbox to fire the textchanged event when textbox autopostback property set to true. Now i want is when the user closes the page the changed text in textbox should affect the database and textchanged event should fire only once.
I want to call a validate function on asp:button click event and also want to do some server side work on this click like adding values to session variables and redirecting page to new one.

I have a web form in which I create many controls including a submit button dinamically.
I want to check a condition in the button's click event and if it comes true, call a javascript funtion to show an alert. but the problem is when I use :
I want to Access remote server( ie., want to access online server not local server) in my Application.. I change Settings in SQL surface Area Configuration---> Remote Connection ( checked the Local and Remote Connection ) Then while running the application it showing the following error.(I make off the firewall also) An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I have written an ASPX page (with few server controls on it) and a WebService module. I am invoking this Webservice from client side using JavaScript.
I need to access these server controls (present on ASPX Page) in WebService when it is being executed at server and change/add properties(at server, not client side).
I'm trying to save some content whenever a button/hyperlink is clicked using jquery.ajax (Using Asp.net 3.5). The logic is as follows:
Through .bind in jquery I bind my own method(MakeLog) to a button click or hyperlink click. The click events of button/hyperlink contain nothing, I need to use .bind for selective controls. Now we have a button whose click event will fire a method, say MakeLog.Code snippet for MakeLog is as follows:
This works fine in IE but in Firefox this is not sending the data back as expected.I tried to identify the issue and came across the following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3522944/jquery-ajax-calls-async-false-vs-async-true .What I understand is that, whenver page is redirecting/reloading due to button click or hyperlink click the async call is not working properly.
Possible Duplicates: how to call server side function from client side - asp.net Calling ASP.NET Code Behind function from Javascript Calling ASP.NET server side method via JQuery While loading an aspx page, how is it possible to call a server side method with the client side code? Can u show one example?
We have a cient we are stting up that has 2 separate physical servers, one that is the web server the other the database server. Using impersonation we have been able to get the website to connect and retrieve data from the sql server so that part is not an issue. The problem is I have a windows service application that must be installed on the web server (as it process files downloaded to an ftp site) and it must be able to connect and write to the sql server as well.We tried adding a system.web block with the impersonation stuff to the app.config file which of course did not work. Can anyone tell me what/how we need to configure this properly?
I am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder. When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile.
The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps?
I have a textbox in one grid-view column where upon entering a particular value and losing focus of the textbox, should post to the server to get the text validated through a server-side method. If the entry is valid, a result set to fill rest of row cells would be returned, else the bgcolor of the textbox needs to be changed to Red.
I tried posting back through the obvious way, i.e. making the textbox's autopostback as true and wiring up a server-side OnTextChanged event handler to validate the entered value.
It is working with this setup, but is also affecting the remaining page controls behaviour. For example, if I click a button in some other grid after entering some text in the textbox, the OnTextChanged handler gets called thus preventing the button's click event, which I also wish to call to execute its functionality.
I've written a Generic Handler so I can access my server's COM port through javascript. I'm doing this, because I'm writing a Web Interface to an ESP-88 from BOSE, for internal use. The code must be configurable, and I added routines for both TCP/IP support and RS232. In a desktop app, the code runs fine, but in an ASP.net 4.0 App, the code crashes with the error "Access to the port 'COM2' is denied.". TCP/IP connections work, but serial is also required for us.
