AJAX :: Custom Completionlist For ACE?
Oct 14, 2010
I've been looking around on the net for a sollution to my problem but couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd try actually asking people as a last resort.I have an autocompleteextender which works just fine, but I'm now in need of some extra functionality.What it currently does is get all of its items from a webservice, show the list and places an item inside a textbox on click.However, I now need to give certain items a different colour *inside* the completionlist. I guess I would differentiate in which items need to be normal (white) and which need to be coloured (red) by making a completionlistitem inside my webservice, and just passing the bool.The big problem however is actually changing the way the completionlist is built. The only difference that's needed is giving some <li>'s an extra css class, but after hours of searching, I couldn't find anywhere to actually change the way the completionlist is built...If anybody can tell me how to change this behavior, or even better: show me an example,

I've tried to set a high Z-Index for the AutoCompleteExtender div but this doesn't take affect. I don't want to disable Firefox cahing, so what could I do?

When I implement Custom web control inheriting ASP.NET Menu Ajax is not working. I try to Override Render method and generate Li's rather than table.I try to use Control Adapters, but when I am not using adapters for some pages ithe base adapter is generating just hyperlinks with span. I do not want this way. So I can not use these.

Lets say I have a user control AjaxUC.
<asp:ModalPopupExtender ID="modalSearch" runat="server" TargetControlID="btnHiddenSearch"
PopupControlID="pnlModalSearch" DropShadow="false" RepositionMode="RepositionOnWindowResize"
Drag="false" BackgroundCssClass="modalBackground" >
</asp:ModalPopupExtender>
<asp:Button ID="btnHiddenSearch" runat="server" Style="display: none" />
<asp:Panel ID="pnlModalSearch" runat="server" CssClass="modalPopup">
<asp:Panel ID="pnlModalSearchContent" runat="server">
<asp:Label ID="lblSearchTitle" runat="server" CssClass="modalPopupTitle"></asp:Label>
<div id="divContent" runat="server">
</div>
<asp:Button ID="btnModalSearchClose" runat="server" Text="Close" CausesValidation="false"
OnClick="BtnModalSearchCloseClick" />
</asp:Panel>
</asp:Panel>
<input type="hidden" id="hdVisible" runat="server" />
------------------------------------------------------------------------ AjaxUC.ascx.cs:-
public partial class AjaxUC : System.Web.UI.UserControl { private ITemplate _content = null; [TemplateInstance(TemplateInstance.Single)] [TemplateContainer(typeof(Container))] [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public ITemplate Content { get
{ return _content; } set
{ _content = value; } } void Page_Init() { if (_content != null) { Container container = new Container(); _content.InstantiateIn(container); divContent.Controls.Add(container); lblSearchTitle.Text = LblModalSearchText; } } protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (hdVisible.Value=="true") { modalSearch.Show(); } } } public class Container : Control, INamingContainer { internal Container() { } }}
This control when used on any aspx page will popup the control placed inside the template "divContent" as modalpopup.

I am trying to write a customized Ajax HTML editor control and since noone knows how to resolve the problems I am having with including my source file SimpleEditor.cs inside my asp.net web application (refer to thread: [URL] I would like to know if I can compile the custom control into a .dll file and then somehow try using that inside my project. To start with I am creating a very simple editor with very little changes. Once I get it to work then I can move forward with putting in the rest of the customization. By the way in case anyone is interested I am trying to accomplish two things with my custom editor.
1 I want to reduce the buttons to just a few basic buttons.
2. I want to add a custom button to allow the user to insert a picture.
Below is the code I have in my SimpleEditor.cs file:

How to use $.ajax(..) JSON to invoke asmx webmethods that have 'by ref arguments' for custom classes/objects? Is it possible?
My c# code -
public class MyCustomClass{ public int MyProperty; MyCustomClass(){}}
[WebMethod]
[ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
public Method1(ref MyCustomClass MyCustomObj)
[code]...
This all works fine if the webmethod's argument is NOT by ref.With the above mentioned signature of the webmethod, i.e. with a by ref argument, I get a server error (in server response seen using firebub ) -

I'm trying to query a database that contains information about a "ticket" using jQuery's .ajax() method.
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: 'Preview.ashx',
data: 'ticketID=' + ticketID,
success: function (data) {
// 'data' should be a row from the database, so it should be like an
// array that contains each column of the row
// do stuff with this data
}
});
... so that all works fine. I'm having trouble with the data variable. On the server side, I do...
// get the ticket ID from the POST parameter
int ticketID = context.Request["ticketID"] != null ? Convert.ToInt32(context.Request["ticketID"]) : -1;
if (ticketID >= 0) {
// grab the data from the database, getInfo() will retrieve the row
// in the DB that corresponds to the ticket ID given, returning an
// ArrayList with all of the information
ArrayList theTicket = getInfo(context, ticketID);
// now, I need to somehow return this information so that I could deal with it
// in the 'success' callback function above
return;
} else {
// something went wrong with the 'newTicket' POST parameter
context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain";
context.Response.Write("Error with 'ticketID' POST parameter.
");
return;
}
return;
I've debugged this enough to be sure that the ArrayList contains the correct information. Now I just need to return it. How would I do this? How would I return the data in the ArrayList? Is it possible to structure the response so that I could do data.ID, data.otherColumnName, etc... in the callback function to access the different fields?

I've written a custom date control that inherits the TextBox control, but has it's own three textboxes for capturing month,day, and year separately. I wanted to use the CalendarExtender with it so people could plug in the date that way as well, but I cannot "trigger" the CalendarExtender to show with my custom control.

I am trying to accomplish the following.I am displaying records from a database query that include a datetime value. If the datetime value is before the year 2000 (the database defaults to either 1753 or 1900), I want the textbox associated with the CalendarExtender to display nothing. So I created a control library, made a new class 'DateTextbox' and inherited from TextBox.I added the following code:

I am trying to build a custom composite control, which allows me to add custom content to each child control. It's a similar concept to what you have with a GridView and TemplateColumn. The markup used to place the control on the page would end up being something like this:
[Code]....
I have the code below, which allows me to put that markup on the page without throwing any errors, and it renders all the correct HTML, except it doesn't render the contents of the ColumnTemplate. I have replaced the Render() code with a comment because it's quite long winded and doesn't add anything important here:
[Code]....
I have tried to follow examples on MSDN and other forums but I can't make this work. I think I'm missing the code to render the contents of the template, but I don't know how to hook that up.

How do I run a function associated with my custom control after it is initialized? So for example, after the control has initialized (ie is loaded) I need to finalize some properties. But since it is composed of a number of other controls, I need to know all the controls are present. I've tried add_load but I can't seem to get the context right to see my contol's specific functions. If I place the onLoad metod in the main class (javascript) definition, the contol id dosen't exist yet, same for in the prototype.
Since the control id dosen't exist yet I need to wait for the load event but now i'm in a chicken and egg problem. How do I create a method of my control class and call it "after" initilization? Seems like a simple question but it hasn't been so easy to find an answer.

I want to customise the handle and the rail (i.e., background) on a Ajax Toolkit slider (using the slider extender on a textbox). The extender has the two properties RailCssClass and HandleCssClass, which can be used for this purpose. However, I can only get the customised Handle to work - not the customised Rail. I end up with a slider that has the custom handle image that I specified, and has a completely blank background (i.e., the original rail has been overridden in some way). However, the new rail/background does not take effect. Any suggestions for why this is, and how I can get this to work?
Here is the code for the div with slider text box and the slider extender, and (below) the CSS classes for the handle and rail:

I have created a custom control with three dropdown list boxes. Based on the selectedItem in the first ddl, other two ddl items will be populated. I have this part working fine.
I have an asp:panel control, "Add", "Delete" and "Submit" buttons with in an ASPxRoundPanel on my web page.
btnAdd_Click event has the following code:
Control control = LoadControl(Path + "myCustomFilter.ascx");
control.ID = "FilterControl" + Convert.ToString(pnlCustomFilter.Controls.Count + 1);
((myCustomFilter)control).FilterDataSource = dtSource;
//Add to dynamic control panel
pnlFilterControl.Controls.Add(control);
First added control displays fine. When I add second control, I don't see pnlCustomFilter display on the page.
What code should go into Page_Load IsPostBack block to refresh pnlCustomFilter and myCustomFilter selected items? When delete button is clicked, I need to delete selected customControl from pnlCustomFilter. How do I get selected pnlCustomFilter.ControlId? How do I delete it?

I am trying to write a webservice that's going to be used through ASP.Net Ajax. In this webservice I have to add exception handling so that in case of any error, I could log them to some central place and then throw.
In my other areas of code (like aspx pages), i have been using a basepage which Overrides System.Web.UI.Page class's OnError by adding a custom event handler. I want to do the same for my webservice as well.
Basically I do not want to decorate each webservice method with a Try Catch block. Instead if there is a clean way like to override the on error method, i want to go for that. Unfortunately the WebService class does not seem to have any functionality for this.

I am trying to use a collapsible panel extender within a custom server control. I've used the extender elsewhere with no issues but when I try to add the control to my panels collection of controls in my custom control, my page crashes. Take it out and no error. I'm adding other controls to the panel...literals, labels, etc. This, however is the only ajax control I am using. Is there something I need to do as far as registering the extender with the script manager (on the master page)?

Lemme go to the code:
This is the snippet present in the custom user control:
