AJAX :: Custom List In DataContractJsonSerializer?

I am trying to serialize an object that has a public member of type ArrayList. If I am reading
this correctly, an ArrayList is a serializeable member. My class looks like this:
[DataContract(Name="Family")]
public class Family
{
private int _FamilyID;
[DataMember]
[Code]....
But then I'm serializing more of the properties than I want. I would be happy to either a) figure out how to get DataContractJsonSerializer to serialize my ArrayList or b) get JavaScriptSerializer to have the effect of honoring a datacontract. I understand that JavaScriptSerializer is depricated so I suppose DataContractJsonSerializer is the way to go if possible.
I'm getting the error from the subject line when I try to move some code that formerly lived in the App_Code directory to an external library (that would be moved into the /bin directory). What do I need to include or reference to get rid of this error?
I've already included: System.Runtim.Serialization (says it's version 3.0.0, I don't see a version 3.5.0 anywhere).
custom validator is not working for drop down list? i failed to get the right value from the drop down list.
View 2 RepliesDataContractJsonSerializer this is nice class added in the .net framework which can be used to serialize/desirealize object into JSON.
Now following is the example i am trying
[Serializable] class User { public string name; public string userId; }
Now following is the output generated
Output : Notice structure where only "name" is expected instead of k__BackingField
Now this is the problem after digging so much i am not sure from where <> and _BackingField is coming ?
{
"<name>k__BackingField":"test user",
"<userId>k__BackingField":100001}
How insert a drop list property into a custom webcontrol? This a drop list property is show all textbox control on usercontrol or webpage.
View 3 RepliesI have a custom control, inherited from Button. This is the class definition for the control and 2 properties:
[Code]....
I show you 2 properties, only to illustrate the problem.
as you see Aplicacion property is of a custom type Sistema, and Roles property is of type List<UserRol>.
The Aplicacion property is rendered well, this way:
[Code]....
The problem I have is with List<UserRol>. I couldn't get it to be rendered. I expeect to be rendered this way:
[Code]....
Finally, this is the TypeConverter and Editor definitions for the list:
[Code]....
The UserRol class is a typical class, without any special attributes.
I have discovered that when I use the custom editor for Roles property, the collection is not persisted. When I use the default editor for the collection, the collection is persisted.
I want to create a custom web part in SharePoint 2007 that allows me to take items from an existing custom list (i.e. Title, Hyperlink, Description and photo) and then render it in a format of my choice. How can I do this using C# asp.net and a web part?
View 1 RepliesWhen I implement Custom web control inheriting ASP.NET Menu Ajax is not working. I try to Override Render method and generate Li's rather than table.I try to use Control Adapters, but when I am not using adapters for some pages ithe base adapter is generating just hyperlinks with span. I do not want this way. So I can not use these.
View 1 RepliesHow can i generate dropdown lists based on what has been selected in the checckbox list. Below is an example of what i need. if the user selects the options day, lotID and waferID, then 3 cascading dropdown lists should be displayed. And then a gridview displays data based on what has been chosen in the dropdown lists.
Day
LotID
SlotID
WaferID
VendorID
ToolID
LocationDetected
ProcessStep
Stage
Precipe
WaferStartMaterial
WaferStartVendor
WaferStartLot
WaferDiameterCOA
WaferMapTitle
BreakPoint
BreakpointSide
BreakpointMeasurement
I have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. If I could do it through Ajax that would be great but I can settle with having the page to reload to display the data. Right now I'm not sure how to do either. I enabled autopostback on the last drop down and wrote a method for it but I get an error at runtime saying:
Invalid postback or callback argument
I am trying to implement an html definition list in which each <dt> is the <header> in the accordion, and <content> is the <dd>. No matter how I write this out I can't get it to be valid markup because of the position of the <div>s inside the definition list where divs aren't allowed.
I also tried using a unordered list but had the same validation issues. I would really like to use the accordian, but not if I have to sacrifice valid semantic markup on my page.
I have a custom list earthquakes which contains a list of earthquakes. How do I parse this in JavaScript in order to add it to innerHtml and display on the screen. The problem is that I cannot get this to display on the screen in a div. When it parses I get no result because my javascript is wrong and if I try just printing the result i get [Object object]
So the flow goes input from textbox -> web service -> list to javascript

View 4 RepliesI have a Gridview that displays paged results from a search query. The problem I am having is that the gridview is not displaying all the results returned from the query. For example, I can step through the code and see 6 items returned by the call to GetList(), but only 2 rows get rendered by the gridview after binding.
I am using an ObjectDataSource created in code:
ObjectDataSource ods = new ObjectDataSource();
ods.EnablePaging = true;
ods.TypeName = "Bll.InvestmentProductSvc";
ods.DataObjectTypeName = "Bll.InvestmentProduct";
ods.SelectMethod = "GetList";
ods.SelectCountMethod = "GetListCount";
ods.StartRowIndexParameterName = "PageIndex";
ods.MaximumRowsParameterName = "PageSize";
ods.EnableViewState = false;
ods.SelectParameters.Add (new Parameter("SearchString",TypeCode.String, SearchString));
ods.SelectParameters.Add(new Parameter("PageIndex", TypeCode.Int32));
ods.SelectParameters.Add(new Parameter("PageSize", TypeCode.Int32, gvSearchResults.PageSize.ToString()));
gvSearchResults.DataSource = ods;
gvSearchResults.DataBind();
The Gridview declaration:
<asp:GridView ID="gvSearchResults" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" AllowPaging="true" PageIndex="0" PageSize="50" OnPageIndexChanging="gvSearchResults_PageIndexChanging" PagerSettings-Position="TopAndBottom">
</asp:GridView>
Are there any reasons for the Gridview not to render a row and not to report an error? I have examined the data returned for the 6 items and cannot find any distinctive differences between the 2 rows displayed and the 4 rows not displayed.
I have a model containing a List with custom objects, let's say Customer objects. Like this:
[Code]....
In the View I print out (for simplicity) the name and id of the customer objects on the model. How to restore these values on postback if the method signature looks like this:
[Code]....
Should I use hidden values? This is not possible if the List contains items of interface type, for example List<ICustomer> where ICustomer is an interface. Is there any other way to "save" the values on each postback? For example I may want to view validation error messages when the user submits the form and then the properties of the customer object must still be there..
I would like to find a way of running custom validation on a checkbox list. The reason why is because they were a radiobutton list. Then our client decided they wanted to be able to uncheck them (without a clear button) so in the end I had to change them to checkbox lists and make them mutually exclusive. On some of them, one must be selected and I downloaded this: [URL] to set them as required - worked nicely. Perhaps there's a way of building on this further to create some sort of custom checkbox validation. why I need this custom validation is because when the built form checkbox list = flat or maisonette then floor level is then required.
View 3 RepliesWe have a page with quite a few textboxes and a dropdown list at the end. The dropdown list at the end is a "Result" and dependant on the result certain textboxes need to be filled in and this needs to be checked when they submit the page. I was thinking of using a custom validator
View 3 Replies For that, I made my own users and passwords tables and hashed the passwords myself. Now, I would much rather move to Microsoft's built in membership provider with asp.net in sql server. Does anybody know a good way to migrate over?
The only real idea I've had so far is to make both systems run simultaneously, then when a user logs in, validate them in my old system, then ask them to re-enter their password and save their new stuff in the microsoft's system... then clear the record out of my old system. Eventually, I would hope that would move everybody into the new system. But that seems annoying and messy. Is there some better way?
I have create a asp:sitemap on my asp:masterpage. I am then populating the sitemap from an SQL table programmatically. Everything works perfectly except one thing - clicking on the items causes a new window to appear and the selected page opens in that new window. I need the items to open in the existing window. Perhaps sitemapnode - but this gave me some errors. The following is my code.

With following code, I can fetch all properties of user control. I need to get only those properties which were separately defined excluding the default ones.

I have been facing this problem for a while now, what I exactly want to do is ->
I have a 3- Tier Application. For a table (say Employee) I have following classes in my BLL and DAL
1. Employee.cs (Contains database fields as properties)
2. EmployeeKeys.cs
3. EmployeeFactory.cs (Main BLL which make call to DAL method)
4. EmployeeDAL.cs (The DAL)
Suppose I have 6 columns in Employee table.
I know that the DAL returns List<Employee> to the BLL and then the BLL in turn gives me the Employee fields.
I have no problem accesing it.
But suppose I have a dropdownlist control and wish to bind EmplyeeName and EmployeeId with the Dropdown.
Is there any way that I can implement that my DAL returns a Generic list containing only the two fields required to bind the Dropdown.
In short i want my list to return only 2 columns, not all the 6 like the List<Employee>
How do i implement this???
Do I need to create a custom List<CustomEmployeeData>, if so how can i implement it in the 3 tier application.
Basically i m looking to increase the efficiency by getting less data from database. Am i on the right track????
I defined the property as follow and in the Properties window, it just shows an empty textbox. While the CssClass property shows a list of CSS classes.
[CssClassProperty]
public
string HeaderStyleCssClass
{
get
{
return headerStyle;
{
set
{
this.headerStyle =
value;
}
}
I'm trying to create a custom control that has a dropdown list and a required field validator in it.I've got as a far as being able to set the error message if the control fails to validate, but I can't actually get it to validate, not can I figure out how to call a .Validate method server side. This is driving me nuts!
To create my control, I followed the article here I ran the text box example through, and I can get that to validate without any problems, so I then went through and created a new set of class files relating to a drop down list.Anyone got any thoughts, or hints as to what might be wrong, or where I should start looking?
