AJAX :: Details View Disappears When Edit Button Is Clicked?
Aug 1, 2010
This details view is in a modal pop up. When the edit button is clicked the details view should go into edit mode with the edit button being switched to not visible and the update button being set to visible. This worked with a non ajax Master/Details. Now though when the edit button is clicked the details view closes, or disappears. I don't have any code to set the visible property of the details view to false. I don't understand why it's disappearing and why the buttons aren't changing the way they should.I also tried this with the OnClick event but the same thing happens.
This details view is part of a Master/Details. It appears in it's modal pop up like it should when a record is selected in the grid view. But then when the edit button is clicked in the details view the details view and modal pop up disappear. Everything else works correctly. I've used this same pattern successfully for other pages with out this issue.I don't understand why this is happening. There is no event handler that is tied to this. I don't have any code that would cause this. The edit button is just using the edit command that's set declaratively in the mark up. It doesn't have any code in the code behind that would override this.code for the details view:
I have a details view with buttons in the footer. When the user clicks the edit button the calls the ChangeEditMode() method. I want to change the mode of the details view to edit mode which seems to work fine. It goes into edit mode with a text box. I also want it to set the visible property of the edit button to false and set the visible property of the update button to true. Then while still in edit mode the user can click the update button that will call the appropriate method to persist the changes.
I got the changemode() to change to edit but can't change the visible property of the buttons correctly. This is what I have so far. Can some one please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I'm thinking of using a modal pop up control that would have a details view in it. I currently have a details view that uses CSS Friendly control adapters with the CssSelectorClass attribute. Can I use the CSS friendly CssSelectorClass property with a details view in the modal pop up and style it as I'm currently doing with my Details View?
I have a detailsview which includes a drop down list bound to an array. However, when I click on the cancel button the dropdownlist values disappear. I have tried to solve the problem by rebinding the values back into list on the cancel command event, but this has made no difference. Does anyone know how to solve this?
i m using Details View i need to perform sly functiona;ity like in Grid (edit, updating, canceling)but i couldn't found the events in Details View which are present in Gridview(rowdeleting, rowcanceling edit, row updating)here is my source
I'm new to asp.net 3.5 and I have been working through the tutorials using a real access database to learn how to use the new controls. I have an extremely simplistic page setup with a master-details view, the master using the gridview, and the detail using the detailsview controls. Everything seemingly functions correctly, except when I try to update the data in the details view. I make changes to the record, click update and the page posts back but nothing is updated in the database. No errors are given either.
I have a DetailsView that has a dropdownlist in side an EditTemplate. I need the dropdown list to have to options (Math and English) and wan tthe selected option to be whatever is already stored in the database. I can't seem to be able to get this set.
I have a page where I have a tab container and four tabs. the problem is on the first tab "manage quote request" I have a Gridview with the quote request general informatin listed and have a template field created with a link button to databind to the formview quote details. the porblem comes in when after I click on the select linkbutton. the Formview loads right. Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.
I have a small problem I am returning some data from a query and have allowed paging, however when I click on the next button to view the following page the gridview disappears.
My datasource is specified in the code behind:
<asp:Panel ID="dtpanel" runat="server" Visible="False"> <asp:GridView ID="grddetails" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" AllowPaging="True" OnPageIndexChanging="grddetails_SelectedIndexChanged" ViewStateMode="Enabled" onselectedindexchanged="grddetails_SelectedIndexChanged" AllowSorting="True" > <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col1" HeaderText="Col1" SortExpression="Col1" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col2" HeaderText="Col2" SortExpression="Col2" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col3" HeaderText="Col3" SortExpression="Col3" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col4" HeaderText="Col4" SortExpression="Col4" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col5" HeaderText="Col5" SortExpression="Col5" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Col6" HeaderText="Col6" SortExpression="Col6" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> </asp:Panel> using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlClient; public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected void GridView2_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { int y = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); Control control = GridView2.Rows[y].Cells[0].Controls[0]; LinkButton btn = control as LinkButton; string qval = btn.Text; string query = "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Col LIKE '%" + qval + "%'"; string connectionString = @"Data Source=servername;Initial Catalog=dbname;Integrated Security=True"; SqlConnection accessConnection = new SqlConnection(connectionString); SqlCommand accessCommand = new SqlCommand(query, accessConnection); SqlDataAdapter grddetailsDataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(accessCommand); DataTable grddetailsDataTable = new DataTable("Table"); grddetailsDataAdapter.Fill(grddetailsDataTable); int dataTableRowCount = grddetailsDataTable.Rows.Count; if (dataTableRowCount > 0) { grddetails.DataSource = grddetailsDataTable; grddetails.DataBind(); } dtpanel.Visible = true; } protected void GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { int w = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); Control control = GridView1.Rows[w].Cells[0].Controls[0]; LinkButton btn = control as LinkButton; string qval2 = btn.Text; Label1.Text = btn.Text; string query = "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Col LIKE '%" + qval2 + "%'"; string connectionString = @"Data Source=servername;Initial Catalog=dbname;Integrated Security=True"; SqlConnection accessConnection = new SqlConnection(connectionString); SqlCommand accessCommand = new SqlCommand(query, accessConnection); SqlDataAdapter grddetailsDataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(accessCommand); DataTable grddetailsDataTable = new DataTable("Table"); grddetailsDataAdapter.Fill(grddetailsDataTable); grddetails.DataSource = grddetailsDataTable; grddetails.DataBind(); dtpanel.Visible = true; } protected void grddetails_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e) { DataTable dataTable = grddetails.DataSource as DataTable; grddetails.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex; grddetails.DataBind(); dtpanel.Visible = true; } }
I have a gridview. The fields are displayed in table in itemtemplate. Each row has a unique id called UserId.There is a linkbutton for Editing in each row.
When the Edit linkbutton is clicked, I need to get the details in that row to another page. Is this done using querystring.
I have a grid view that populates and displays data at btn click event from the following sql statement in one of the SP:
SELECT
reg_code, pc_serial, act_code FROM user_reg WHERE reg_code=@reg_code
I want to pass parameters to the other Stored procedure when the edit button is clicked in order to update the 2 columns in the specific row at the time. I now how to pass parameters in a regular btn click event or function, but in the case of edit btn in grid view I don't know how to capture data from specific row and then pass it to the SP. Here is Stored Procedure to update the columns (every user always has the same reg code, but may have more than one serial number and activation code, I want to let the user update serial number and then based on the serial number generate new activation code in the SP.):
In my gridview i click the select button next to a row of data and it pops up a detailsview of that selected row. Also i created button in the details view that closes it. And below is the source code inside the detailsview for how i did that and also the code behind. Since i created it this way where i set the detailsview1.visible = false, when it closes it doesn't pop back up when i click the select button again, and that's exactly what i want it to do is pop up when i click the select button on the gridview.
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="QuickDetails" HeaderStyle-ForeColor="White" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Right" HeaderStyle-BackColor="#5D7B9D"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Button ID="btnClose" runat="server" Text="X" OnClick="CloseDetailsView" /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> Protected Sub CloseDetailsView(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) DetailsView1.Visible = False End Sub
I have the latest toolkit build (3.5) and discovered that a ComboBox button width and height is being set to zero and not displaying correctly after switching tabs, posting back in UpdatePanel, and returning to original tab.
Steps to recreate:
1. Run code and start on tab 1
2. Select tab 2
3. Select a Product to postback
4. Return to tab 1 and notice combo button is gone
I have a grid view with each row as a link button. When I click on the row, some data parsing process takes place (about a 15 sec process). The grid refreshes itself at a regular interval. I want to disable the link when it is clicked once, so that the user gets to know that row has been processed already and does not click it again, until the grid refreshes itself and the row disappears. I am copying my gridview code below. how to disable the link button on that row as soon as it is clicked.
I have a vb.net page that has a editable detailsview. When a user wants to erase the data for a field, they highlight the data, and delete/backspace over it, and click update. However, the original data is still saved. If they are replacing the current data with new data, that works fine and updates/saves correctly. This problem only happens when the current data needs to be removed.
Yesterday (Thursday Sep 10th 2010) I was happy to have a TabContainer working fine on a simple page as im learning to use it.
On the page was:
1) Ajax Script manger. 2) 1 command button (it would make label1.text = "hello world" 3) A Ajax TabContainer with 2 tabs... 4) Label1
That was it and it was working fine in Chrom and IE Woohoo.. I go home...
This morning I load it up to keep working way and doing more with it.... Chrome is my default browser, it loads and I click tab2 then tab 1 all is well.... I click Butto1 and the hole TabContainer disapears..
After much dinging I find it still works in IE but that my Chrome has updated (on its own): (I notice only one ICON in Chrome in the uper right corner by the addres bar... Only the Wrench ICON, No more Page ICON.. So I check and sure enough Chrome did a push to V 6.0.472.55.. Anyhow thats the difference and now TabContainer goes poof/disappears when clicking a button that refeshes the page.
In Visual Studio 2008 ,in my application page 'TEST.aspx' have an 'Ajax TabContainer' inside update panel , and Tab Panel "Product Group Identification" containes textboxes ,DropDownlist and button like 'Save' and 'Cancel' , on clcik of 'save' or 'cancel' buttons only dropdownList Disappears for a second and reappears this is due to Update panel.
Trying to add some custom code behind the cancel button built into a details view. How would I go about doing this? This is what i have currently. But, when clicked, the cancel button does not pick this up.
I have the following code that I'm trying to get to work in a project. I've stepped into all of it and it executes in the correct order. The correct methods are called. The values that are passes are what they should be. I can't figure out why the modul pop extender doesn't open up with the details view in it though.
I have virtually the same code in another project and it works fine. I've compared the two but can't find the problem with it in this project.
