Forms Data Controls :: Passing Parameters To Stored Procedure When Edit Button Is Clicked In GridView

Oct 27, 2010

I have a grid view that populates and displays data at btn click event from the following sql statement in one of the SP:

SELECT

reg_code, pc_serial, act_code
FROM user_reg
WHERE reg_code=@reg_code

I want to pass parameters to the other Stored procedure when the edit button is clicked in order to update the 2 columns in the specific row at the time. I now how to pass parameters in a regular btn click event or function, but in the case of edit btn in grid view I don't know how to capture data from specific row and then pass it to the SP. Here is Stored Procedure to update the columns (every user always has the same reg code, but may have more than one serial number and activation code, I want to let the user update serial number and then based on the serial number generate new activation code in the SP.):

In my stored procedure I have declared some parameters as NULL values(Optional Parameters).

In my C#.NET code I didn't use the parameters to pass values to Stored Procedure's NULL

Parameters. So I am getting Exception.

I don't want to pass parameters from my code.Because I have declared 30 parameters in my

Is there any other way to execute Stored Procedure from Front End without passing values to

Forms Data Controls :: Stored Procedure - Parameters Required?

The update option is using a stored procedure. There are no parameters fro the SP but the error message is saying that parameters are expected. If executed as SQL string then it works OK. I need to use a SP as other updates are required. Code: THIS WORKS

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:appConnectionString%>"
ProviderName = "<%$ ConnectionStrings:appConnectionString.ProviderName %>"
SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM [qryNewManifestSub] where manifestid = 6855"

Forms Data Controls :: Why Does Details View Disappear When The Edit Button Is Clicked

Dec 17, 2010

This details view is part of a Master/Details. It appears in it's modal pop up like it should when a record is selected in the grid view. But then when the edit button is clicked in the details view the details view and modal pop up disappear. Everything else works correctly. I've used this same pattern successfully for other pages with out this issue.I don't understand why this is happening. There is no event handler that is tied to this. I don't have any code that would cause this.The edit button is just using the edit command that's set declaratively in the mark up. It doesn't have any code in the code behind that would override this.code for the details view:

DataSource Controls :: Validating Length Of Data In Context With Stored Procedure Parameters?

Apr 19, 2010

I am building a WCF Web Service that has a Business Logic layer (that implements all validation logic and other business rules) and a Data Access Layer that makes calls to Stored Procedures in my database.

I would like to be able to validate the length of data passed against that of the length of the parameters in the Stored Procedures without having to explicitly define the parameter lengths in my WCF Web Service.

Eg:

Person Object
Person.Name = "John Dhoe"
Person.Age = 37
SQL Stored Procedure
SavePerson
FullName Varchar(15)
Age Int

In my BLL or DAL, I would like to be able to do something like :

If(Person.Name.length == SavePerson.Parameters["FullName"].Length)
{
Return true;
}
else
{
Return false;
}

Has anyone tried this out before? Is this even possible?

ADO.NET :: Stored Proc With Output Parameters / Data In The Output Parameters From The Stored Procedure?

Mar 30, 2011

I have a stored procedure that works fine for classic asp, but how can I get my output parameters data back from in /MVC 2 / linq/ entities framework model . I have inported the function also, but when i try to code it i dont get results ...i know this is a matter of lack of / knowledge or exmple because i have been scouring the web for it and cannnot find into that accually works.

here is the stored proc.

[Code]....

Here was the one of the few tries I did:

[Code]....

but it executes fine does not give me an error, but also does not return the info i need to the viewmodel

I keep seeing stuff about "ref" on the net but "ref" shows " arbument # should not be passed with the ref keyword.

So i am not sure if there is a problem with the model, or with my understanding this, Now for your info I can do the same step with returning a dataset from a stored procedure fine, but I dont want a data set I just want excatly the data in the output parameters from the stored procedure.

Forms Data Controls :: Passing Multiple Parameters Through The DataNavigateUrlFomratString In GridView?

Apr 29, 2010

I Have a gridview where I have a link to a details page and I need to pass multiple parameters. I currently have the following:

<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="AssocID" HeaderText="AssocID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AssocID" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="FirstName" HeaderText="First Name"
SortExpression="FirstName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="MiddleInitial" HeaderText="M. I."
SortExpression="MiddleInitial" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="LastName" HeaderText="Last Name"
SortExpression="LastName" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="State" HeaderText="State" SortExpression="State" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EMail1" HeaderText="EMail 1"
SortExpression="EMail1" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrType" HeaderText="Addr Type"
SortExpression="AddrType" />
<asp:HyperLinkField DataNavigateUrlFields="AddrID,AssocID"
DataNavigateUrlFormatString="Details.aspx?AddrID={0}&AssocID={1}" HeaderText="Details"
Text="Details" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="AddrID" HeaderText="AddrID" InsertVisible="False"
ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="AddrID" Visible="False" />
</Columns>

According to all I have read my DataNavagateUrlFields string should work but it isn't. The deal is that any one (AssocID) can have multiple AddrID's associated with it. Regardless of which I choose I only get back the first AddrID for that AssocId.

DataSource Controls :: How To Pass Parameters To Stored Procedure

Apr 30, 2010

Ive tried a few ways of doing this without success and got together a simplified example so hopefully I can get an answer. When I try to INSERT using a stored procedure InsertTest (normal SQL works OK) I cannot. I need to know how to pass the @Model parameter to the Stored procedure

Have a Stored procedure which can be executed and after entering string for @Model through wizard a new record is created

My asp:SqlDataSource includes InsertCommand="InsertTest" InsertCommandType="StoredProcedure"
Also my <InsertParameters includes the asp:Parameter Name="Model" Type="String"/>

My drop down (and I think this is where the problem is ). Record is Inserted after choosing Model and pressing enter

Do I have to set one of the properties in the drop down to tell the Stored procedure the parameter being passed is the parameter Model ??

DataSource Controls :: Passing Radiobuttonlist Value To Stored Procedure?

Dec 11, 2010

I have an .ASPX form. All I want to do is simply "Submit" the form field values into a database.

"I have been tasked with re-writing the entire .ASPX form to use "Stored Procedures" instead of a "SQL-String" to insert form values. I think I have most of the form submitting to the database, except the "Radio Buttons" just say "NULL".

I do not know how to progam the Radio Buttons to insert the value (Yes, No, N/A) the user chose into the database. I have GOOGLED but cannot find an answer, and some answers are too complex for my level of understanding at this point.

I need to take the following code and change it so it just calls a Stored Procedure. If you could show me "Stored Procedure" code and how to change my current code to work with the Sproc it would be much appriciated. Here is the code.

I have "11" groups of Radio Buttons I need to change. Here is an example of one of the rows.

<tr>
<td><input type="radio" name="group1" value="yes"></td>
<td><input type="radio" name="group1" value="no"></td>
<td><input type="radio" name="group1" value="N/A"></td>
<td><asp:Label ID="Label22" runat="server" Text="Surfaces exposed to corrosives pH between 5 and 9."></asp:Label></td>
</tr>

Summary: I just want to call a stored procedure and store the value the user chose into my database.

Forms Data Controls :: Loop Gridview To Update Values In Gridview To Stored Procedure?

Jan 14, 2010

I would like to ask a question on the visual basic codes to loop the gridview to retrieve the values and based on the values, it will be provided as parameters to update to the database table using stored procedure.

Firstly, I have a gridview named grvProduct. The page (ui) will be loaded with data from the database with the use of stored procedures. And only certain values can be edited through the use of template in gridview. So based on those edited values, I'm supposed to pass these values as parameters to the stored procedure which will then update a database table.

Let say, I have 3 records retrieved from the database and displayed in the gridview. And I would like to edit a values in the 3 records, how do I do batch update and pass those parameters to the stored procedure? I went to debug and step through the visual basic codes and realised there were too many arguments specified because I actually loop the gridview.

Below is my visual basic codes:

[Code]....

Below is my Stored Procedure code:
[Code]....

I believe it is the error in the looping of the gridview which results that I could not batch update the data/values.

DataSource Controls :: Passing Query String Value To Stored Procedure

Mar 30, 2010

I'm trying to pass the text value of a text box as a query string value to a stored procedure. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Button Code:

Stored Procedure:

The results page datalist:

[Code]....

Code Behind of results page:

[Code]....

I'm sure i've got this entirely backwards. However if I change the NULL value in the stored procedure with some string value (eg."Donkeys") it pulls all the values that contain "Donkeys" into the datalist on my results page.

DataSource Controls :: Using LINQ Passing The Name Of The Stored Procedure Dynamically?

Feb 23, 2010

I have an application where depending on what the user selects run a different stored procedure.

I am using LINQ and am passing the stored procedure name into a sub that will run the stored procedure and return values that I am loading into a DDL.

For example I want to pass the procedure name "GetProducts_Hats" to the sub and not hardcode it.

Protected Sub LoadParamDropDowns(
ByVal SqlObjToExec
As
String )

I am passing the storedprocedure name in parameter SqlObjToExec

so instead of

values = mydb.GetProducts_Hats

I want to code it to be a variable

values = mydb.SqlObjToExec

But the above code does not work.
