Dec 17, 2010This details view is part of a Master/Details. It appears in it's modal pop up like it should when a record is selected in the grid view. But then when the edit button is clicked in the details view the details view and modal pop up disappear. Everything else works correctly. I've used this same pattern successfully for other pages with out this issue.I don't understand why this is happening. There is no event handler that is tied to this. I don't have any code that would cause this.The edit button is just using the edit command that's set declaratively in the mark up. It doesn't have any code in the code behind that would override this.code for the details view:

ex: i have a webform for products and the correspoding Product Links
if i click on any products the related details of that product has to be dispaly in the same webform .
i dont want to goto another webfom and dispaly the details of the product.

Mar 30, 2011I am working in a project that is a musical website. I want to display the web page with all categories I have. In my database , named Category_Master, I have two fields like Category_Id (which is a primary key ) and Category_Name. I have generated category_Id with NEWID() function. The category_Id is not supposed to display on the web page. But, i have to select Category_Name and according to that , I have to get the category_Id. If I am using Static connection with SqlDataSource, i am able to make visible=false property so that the category_id won't be visible. But , at that time, I can't write code to Select the category_id of the selected index.
If i am using disconnected approach, I filled the dataset with the Category_Master, and binded it to GridView. But, at that time, I can't hide the category_id from the user. I want to select category_id by clicking on the category_name with out displaying category_id ..?

My question is how can I add the next and previous buttons on the detailsview so they work? If the details view is on the same page as the datalist works no porblem but on a seperate page I get no next and previous records

Nov 27, 2013I read your "Retrieve images using a file path stored in database in ASP.Net" article posted on June 18. And got the image in the gridview. I have made the "Auto generate select button - True" in gridview. On the click of the select button i want the image to be displayed in "Image" control and also the other details other than image to be diaplayed in textbox. I can get other details in textbox but cannot get image in "Image" control.
NOTE: I am not sure whether I need to use "Image" control available in the toolbox of VS2010.

AJAX :: Details View Disappears When Edit Button Is Clicked?
Aug 1, 2010This details view is in a modal pop up. When the edit button is clicked the details view should go into edit mode with the edit button being switched to not visible and the update button being set to visible. This worked with a non ajax Master/Details. Now though when the edit button is clicked the details view closes, or disappears. I don't have any code to set the visible property of the details view to false. I don't understand why it's disappearing and why the buttons aren't changing the way they should.I also tried this with the OnClick event but the same thing happens.

Jan 16, 2010I have two tables: Book and author and they have one to many relation.One book may have more than one authors. Book table has Title column and Author table has AuthorName Column.
I have search page contains two textboxes: Title Textbox and AuthorName textbox to search the record.
When the user type something and hit the search button it display the Title when click the title ; it redirect to detailsPage.aspx Passing value ID.

Then in the Details page there are: Title, authors and other more from these table column.
My problem is:
When the user search and hit the search button, it display the number of matches Title only. I want to display authors related to this title in this page and other are same(when click the title go to detailspage.aspx)
How can I display the related Authors to each title in search display page (Not in details page, I know in details page) ?
If user search "The Letters and life" in the Title textbox and hit enter data should looks like:
