AJAX :: EnableEventValidation / EnablePartialRendering (tue / False) Didn't Work
Mar 31, 2010
I have been using gridveiw to show uploaded files after that I have already put the new column to download these files. If I will put EnableEventValidation="true" and EnablePartialRendering="true"(ToolkitScriptManager), it is didn't work and error messages apperar like this:

i write a page method and some sort of javascript to work with that method, everything fine in any browser but firefox!
[Code]....
<input id="offcheckcid" type="button" value="بررسی کلوب آی دی" onclick="CheckCloobID('offline');" style="color: Black;"/>
function CheckCloobID(sender) {
var id;
var email;
var button;
id = $get("ctl00_ctl00_cph1_cph1_offcid");
email = $get("ctl00_ctl00_cph1_cph1_offcpe");
button = $get("offcheckcid");
button.value = "کمی تامل نمائید...";
button.disabled = true;
id.disabled = true;
email.disabled = true;
PageMethods.CheckCloobID(id.value, email.value, 'offline', OnSuccess, OnTimeout, OnFailure);
}
function OnSuccess(result) {
var results = result.split("#", 2);
if (results[0] == "Accepted") {
var price = $get("offcut");
price.innerText = "30,000- ریال";
var total = $get("offtotal");
total.innerText = "570,000 ریال";
var button = $get("offcheckcid");
button.value = "تائید شد";
}
else {
alert("...کلوب آی دی و ایمیل محرمانه وارد شده وجود ندارد یا قبلا تخفیف گرفته است");
ActivateButtons();
}
}
the problem: onsuccess event did not work in firefox, no error message displayed in firebug...

I'm not sure where went wrong, from the beginning, my gridview didn't reflect what I choose in AutoFormat style. I tried to set one of the styles and Apply and OK, the grid rows seems to reflect but header row color remains the same. My gridview has pre-defined columns and I bind it to datatable at code behind. And it is placed inside div tag which is inside a table tag. And this page is a child page inside a master page.

I have two divs, and I just want the second one to be under [in z-index] the first one, I read about it here and I figured out that I have to use the following JQuery script:
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#secondDiv').insertBefore('#firstDiv');
</script>
I tried it, but it didn't work with me,
<DetailedTemplate>
<div id="firstDiv" style="background-color:Black">
<asp:ImageButton ID="SelectButton" Visible='<%# org.SelectedValue == null || Container.DataElement("ID").ToString() != org.SelectedValue.ToString() %>' runat="server" CommandName="Select" CommandArgument='<%# Container.DataElement("ID") %>'
OnPreRender="SelectButton_PreRender" style="border-style:none; Height:58px; width:113px; cursor:hand" ImageUrl="~/Contents/Images/item-background.png"/>

Am using UpdatePanel on a .aspx page with a User Control. This user control is AJAX enabled and is using UpdatePanel and ScriptManager on the aspx side. When I have EnablePartialRendering set to true i.e. <asp:ScriptManager runat="server" id="someId" EnablePartialRendering="true" >
and use ScriptManager.RegisterClientScript to write JSON from server side (C# code) - it is not written to the browser i.e. it shows empty square brackets when I view source in Browser i.e. var SomeVar = [] As soon as I change EnablePartialRendering ="false" and refresh the page JSON starting showing up in the browser i.e. var SomeVar = [{"id","1"}{"id",2}]

I am reading a tutorial article on this site about Partial Rendering using ScriptManager.EnablePartialRendering - [URL] The article uses button_click to demonstrate Partial Rendering without full page reload. I copy exactly the same codes but everytime I click the button the page refreshes.
I have examined after the page is loaded - ScriptManager1.EnablePartialRendering = true ScriptManager1.SupportsPartialRendering = true I am using vs2005 .NET 2.0 and AJAX extension 1.0 (same version as used in the article)

I have a form, with an update panel and the EnablePartialRendering set to true on the page. Here's my problem, the page size with every AsyncPostBack gets larger, even if my code makes no changes to the markup. It also, never stops... it just keeps growing about 3-4K with every AsyncPostBack. If EnablePartialRendering is set to false, full postbacks do not cause the page size to grow like that. It's like it's sending resources and then never getting rid of them out of the page even though they're not being used because an updated copy has come down.
1.) Is it supposed to work like that?
2.) If it's not, what can I do to not have 4K added to the page size everytime an AsyncPostBack occurs (not again, full PostBacks do not have that same behavior).
3.) This behavior happens whether I compress the ViewState or not (I am using ViewState compression). However, the ViewState size is NOT growing... it's the size of the content in the page that is (I'm monitoring the ViewState size/the Page Size closely).

I've been running a customer's webapplication using automatically generated email for some time, being hosted on our company's web server. Send mail was done using the System.Net.Mail API using a 3rd party SMTP server. The configuration has been done in the web.config in the system.net section, something like this:
<system.net>
<mailSettings>
<smtp>
<network host="mail.jazzforum.at" userName="myUsername" password="myPassword" port="25"/>
</smtp>
</mailSettings>
</system.net>
Everything worked fine until we had to migrate to another hosting service; since then, send mail didn't work any longer with symtomatic "timeout" exceptions. We also tried using gmail and changing/omitting explicit port number specification, without any success. The server is running IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003 R2).

Why when a control does contain value but it's set to .Enable=False that all controls become disable (that's ok) but why that the ViewState doesn't retain the data on the next post back? If I get the UserControl without modifing its Enable state, the ViewState work between post back.
How can we disable a UserControl that all its control become disable (this part work) but all of them KEEP use the ViewState (this doesn't work)?
Clarification:
1)In the aspx.cs click button EDIT:
myControl.Enabled = false;
//This produce to have all controls in myControl to be disabled.
2)In the asp.cs: click Save to leave the EDIT state:
myControl.Enabled = true;
//This produce that all controls inside myControl are blank : no viewstate!
Other postback works because we do not put myControl.Enable to false.

What is the difference between enableEventValidation and validateRequest? Although the former is on postback/callback caused by a control (Server side only I assume?, the latter is on every request, which is caused by a control posting back anyway? Or would validateRequest kick in by a standard html link being clicked?

<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" onrowediting="GridView1_RowEditing">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Button ID="btnEdit" runat="server" Text="Edit" CommandName="Edit" />
<asp:Label ID="lblFirstColumn" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("FirstColumn") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblEditMode" runat="server" Text="This is Edit mode"></asp:Label>
</EditItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
dt.Columns.Add("FirstColumn", typeof(int));
dt.Rows.Add(100);
GridView1.DataSource = dt;
if (!IsPostBack)
GridView1.DataBind();
}
protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
{
GridView1.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;
GridView1.DataBind();
}
If I change if (!IsPostBack) GridView1.DataBind(); to GridView1.DataBind(); and try to put GridView into Edit mode by clicking btnEdit, then I get the exception: Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. But if I set EnableEventValidation to false, then GridView1 won't enter edit mode ( ie - GridView1_RowEditing doesn't get called ). BTW - same problem also occurs with other databound controls ( DataList, DetailsView ) Page. EnableEventValidation gets or sets a value indicating whether the page validates postback and callback events. When the ableEventValidation property is set to true, ASP.NET validates that a control event originated from the user interface that was rendered by that control. A control registers its events during rendering and then validates the events during postback or callback handling.
a) Why must postback and callback events be evaluated? and how exactly does evaluation happen?
b) Why would calling GridView1.Databind() on each postback cause exception when trying to put it into edit mode?
c) I also don't see any reasons why disabling EnableEventValidation prevents GridView from entering edit mode?! Thus why did.

I have a page that uses ajax scripmanager > progressupdate so I can display the user a message of "Loading, wait..". Now, my question is the following. I have the EnablePartialRendering set to true, mainly because if I set it to false my panel with the loading stuff doesn't display. When is set to true, then if I want to set the text and visibility on a row that is normally set to visible=false, it just doesn't happen. My row doesn't show. My "Loading" message will only display if a stored procedure exist, if it doesn't I just need to let the user know.

What is the difference between validateRequest (which validates form and querystring values) and also enableeventvalidation, which works on post/call backs? In specific, what confuses me is that validateRequest can only be possible by a postback as this is how form values etc will be picked up?

I just want to add some client side (JQuery Javascript) validation in a web user control. I put an OnClientClick handler and the function gets called. BUT, even if I return "false", the OnClick method always get fired. What am I doing wrong ?
I'm with VS 2010, targeting the 4.0 framework with JQuery 1.4.2. and JQuery UI 1.8.4.
Here's a sample code :
<td style="text-align:right"><asp:Button ID="btnAddSave" OnClientClick="return ValidateMail();" OnClick="btnAddSave_Click" runat="server" Text="Submit" /></td>[code]...
If I put a breakpoint in the Page_Load event, I see that I get in and the btnAddSave_Click event is also executed.
