AJAX :: EnablePartialRendering Causes JSON Not To Be Written To The Browser
Jan 29, 2010
Am using UpdatePanel on a .aspx page with a User Control. This user control is AJAX enabled and is using UpdatePanel and ScriptManager on the aspx side. When I have EnablePartialRendering set to true i.e. <asp:ScriptManager runat="server" id="someId" EnablePartialRendering="true" >
and use ScriptManager.RegisterClientScript to write JSON from server side (C# code) - it is not written to the browser i.e. it shows empty square brackets when I view source in Browser i.e. var SomeVar = [] As soon as I change EnablePartialRendering ="false" and refresh the page JSON starting showing up in the browser i.e. var SomeVar = [{"id","1"}{"id",2}]
I have been using gridveiw to show uploaded files after that I have already put the new column to download these files. If I will put EnableEventValidation="true" and EnablePartialRendering="true"(ToolkitScriptManager), it is didn't work and error messages apperar like this:
Server Error in '/POV2' Application. Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. If I will put "false", it is okay, I can download but updatepanel is didn't work. So my page refreshed when I click any events.
While working with mutliple tabs of same browser, session varibles/object gets over written with latest one.
Scenario in my application:
I have to create new employee on first tab(tab #1), and updating existing employee details on second tab(tab #2).I stored employee other details in Session["dtInfo"], use it on saving the record. Now Session["dtInfo"] having details of latest tab created, i.e. tab #2. I tried to save record on tab #1, facing the problem of session gets over written.I had to check some vaules on OnInit and OnInitComplete event. But I get here wrong values in session.
I am reading a tutorial article on this site about Partial Rendering using ScriptManager.EnablePartialRendering - [URL] The article uses button_click to demonstrate Partial Rendering without full page reload. I copy exactly the same codes but everytime I click the button the page refreshes.
I have examined after the page is loaded - ScriptManager1.EnablePartialRendering = true ScriptManager1.SupportsPartialRendering = true I am using vs2005 .NET 2.0 and AJAX extension 1.0 (same version as used in the article)
I have a form, with an update panel and the EnablePartialRendering set to true on the page. Here's my problem, the page size with every AsyncPostBack gets larger, even if my code makes no changes to the markup. It also, never stops... it just keeps growing about 3-4K with every AsyncPostBack. If EnablePartialRendering is set to false, full postbacks do not cause the page size to grow like that. It's like it's sending resources and then never getting rid of them out of the page even though they're not being used because an updated copy has come down.
1.) Is it supposed to work like that?
2.) If it's not, what can I do to not have 4K added to the page size everytime an AsyncPostBack occurs (not again, full PostBacks do not have that same behavior).
3.) This behavior happens whether I compress the ViewState or not (I am using ViewState compression). However, the ViewState size is NOT growing... it's the size of the content in the page that is (I'm monitoring the ViewState size/the Page Size closely).
I have downloaded a AsyncFileUpload example, I edited the uploadError javascript and now it is working perfectly:
[Code]....
It works perfectly how I wanted it, like this: I upload a file, if it's an Image I get the Lime AsyncFileUpload background, and the file name and size are written under the AsyncFileUpload, if it's not an Image, I get the error label shown, with red AsyncFileUpload background, and if I upload another file, it keeps working the same thing every single time, but only shows the last uploaded image name at the end of an image upload, not all of the images.I tried to merge it with my website, and ended with this code:
[Code]....
but in my website its just working the first time only, then rest times I'm getting the uploadError() function working instantly when I click upload, even if i have selected an image or anything else.
I have two examples to show you what I want to achieve here. But to point what's different about my question, Is that I'm having a parametrized URLs and I want to implement URL rewriting to my application. But I don't want to convert the parameter in the URL to be placed between slashes..."page.aspx?number=one" to "pages/one/" << NOT!
First example:
http://localhost:1820/Pages/Default.aspx?page=2&start=5 To http://localhost:1820/Pages/page2
Second example:
http://localhost:1820/Items/Details.aspx?item=3 To http://localhost:1820/Items/ItemName
But I'll still need all the parameters in the original URLs
I have a page that uses ajax scripmanager > progressupdate so I can display the user a message of "Loading, wait..". Now, my question is the following. I have the EnablePartialRendering set to true, mainly because if I set it to false my panel with the loading stuff doesn't display. When is set to true, then if I want to set the text and visibility on a row that is normally set to visible=false, it just doesn't happen. My row doesn't show. My "Loading" message will only display if a stored procedure exist, if it doesn't I just need to let the user know.
I am new to WCF, I was using web service asmx before. I have trouble on making my wcf JSON ajax service work through http like asmx.Could you help me see what wrong in my code?My WCF services are defined in my website application folder. My aim is to call this service in my aspx page java-script code and return complex object back as JSON to my javascript. I have no problem on doing this through classic asmx web service.
When I try to test it through my browser by type this in the URL , URL-http://localhost:3849/WebServices/Account/WCFCompanyService.svc/GetAll. it return "Method not allowed."
But if I type just this URL-http://localhost:3849/WebServices/Account/WCFCompanyService.svc, it return this:
WCFCompanyService Service
You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax:
This will generate a configuration file and a code file that contains the client class. Add the two files to your client application and use the generated client class to call the Service. For example:
C#
class Test { static void Main() { HelloClient client = new HelloClient();
I have a text file named gisQuery129.json that is created using Json.NET - [URL] There is an example on how to create a JSON file and I have done that successfully, but I want to read the file on a page load event and add the values to .NET textbox controls for input values in a query. The created file looks like the following:
{ "myData": { "randomNumber": "129", "Application": "MyMapApp", "FeatureId": "ALL", "Feature": "ALL", "spatialQuery": "FEATURE_ID= '11111' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 1 AND RAND_PARAM= 129 OR FEATURE_ID= '22222' AND REQ_SEQ_NUM= 2 AND RAND_PARAM= 129" } }
I want to read the data in the above sample JSON data and then populate my textboxes something like this:
txtRandParam.text = "129" txtApplication.text = "MyMapApp" and three more text boxes after that.
I use the JavaScriptSerializer class of ASP.net to serialize my object and return it to the client side. How can I deserialize the string using JavaScript?
I'm trying some WCF ajax.net 3.5 out for the first time, and I'm having some difficulties. I have a WCF Service which I have connected to in my aspx page using <asp:ScriptManager>. I have a custom object which has been decorated as a [DataContract]. I'm calling the object from javascript successfully, I can see the JSON response in FireBug, but Sys.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer.deserialize() chokes on it. I'm sure I'm making a noob mistake, but I used up all my patience getting the Web.Config values right for running the WCF service.
However, the data is just available as a string, and does not seem to be available as JSON data from javascript. What do I need to do to work with the returned data as JSON from javascript?
I use json for making cascading dropdown. Scenario is, at the page load i use ajaxcontrol toolkit cascading dropdown. For selection of first dropdown all other 4 dropdown will populate. Now i use json for interdependency of that very four dropdown. So according to that filtering is happen. But when the page is agin loading then all the dropdowns are populated with all the values, now filtered values are not showing. How to show only the filtering values?
I am lost, I am posing a jSon result to an MVC ActionResult and I cannot get it done. What I have is on the View:
[Code]....
With Firebug I can see that I am posting a jSon result with the result I selected. This result is comming from a select list(UnAssignedPages) as the items selected.
Now I want to iterate over that list in the controller and I cannot find an example of how to do it? I found a jSon value provider from Phil Haack [URL] but I was specifically told not to use the Futures Library. Is there any example of how to accept a jSon result in an ActionResult?
For now, I just want to use HTTP POST to send json to asp.net mvc2 controller.Since the JSON is actually a list of JSON objects, and each of them has different fields & length, so it hard for me to make up a input model. So I want to know is there a way for me to post JSON without model/ajax to a controller in ASP.NET MVC2?
I want to use Json in asp.net.when ever drop down selects related values should be place in following TextBoxes..
Ex: ddltest
txtbox1,txtbox2,
when ever i select ddltest value as Blood Test the Related values of Blood test(Select units, normalvalu form Tests) should be placed in txtbox1 and txtbox2.
I've been tasked with implementing a JSON feed on an asp.net website that will be consumed by 3rd party apps (such as IPhone, Android, etc) and I'd like to follow best practices.
An example of what I'd like to achieve would be something similar to: [URL]
I've chosen the JSON.net api as this seems to be highly recommended.
My Google-fu must be failing me as I can't find a single full example code for an Asp.net web application with JSON.net implemented on it, so I've no real concept of where to begin.
My question is fairly simple:
Should I create this sort of feed as an ASPX, or ASHX file? Or even a .NET Web Service? (Remember that the tools that will be using this feed are on external apps like IPhones, etc)
I created a test feed in both ASHX and ASPX format ... here is the code (I'm using Subsonic to populate the collection) ... are either of these along the correct lines?
My json response contains json with structure (eg. "[[[],[]]]") but no actual content.
AJAX code:
[Code]....
It definitely recognizes structure (if I change the xml nodes, it reflects in the []'s) but just isn't inserting any content. I tried prefixing the web method with "<ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat:=ResponseFormat.Json)>" but it made no difference.
I posted this on Stack overflow [URL] but have not had a solution, just completely different way of doing it without using the Ajax.* helpers so I'm wondering if anyone has an Ajax.* solution here?I'm using MVC 3. I have a method on the controller that returns a Json object, according to this question it should be returned to me as Json, but I am finding that is not the case[URL] here's the code that I have:
[Code].... And the controller: [Code].... The first message box displays the response text which is:{"Success":True, "objectId":"testing"} the second message box displays undefinedSo it is coming back to the client correctly, I'm just not sure how to get it out?...Stefan
