View 1 RepliesI noticed when creating a reference that two of the columns in the dialog box under the .Net tab have Version and Runtime.
I'm assuming that Version is the version of the .Net Framework that a given namespace was introduced with.
I'm not sure I understand what the runtime is though. I originally thought it was for the version of ASP.net but now I question that. If look at two namespaces that were introduced with two different Versions they can have the same run time. This contradicts my original conclusion.
how these relate to each other and correct any misunderstandings I my have with this?
I host a website that has recently been upgraded from .NET Framework 2.0 to .NET Framework 4.0. Within the website, I have an instance of BlogEngine which still requires .NET Framework 2.0. Each website is in it's own application pool. My issue is that when I browse to the blog portion of my website, I receive a 500.19 error with the following information...
The configuration section 'system.web.extensions' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration The web.conf file that is listed in the error message is the config file that belongs to my root website which is running .NET Framework 4.0. How do I get the two websites to run together in the same website using different versions of the .NET Framework?
I have this cenario:One server (machine) that have framework 3.5. And one site (website) developed for framework 3.5.This site can not be modified (rebuild in other FW version, or others changes).
I'll developer a new webapplication (WAP) in framework 4.0 (using microsoft visual web developer 2010).
As I know, the new webaplication work in the server, if I install framework 4.0 in the server.
My question is: Can I install the framework 4.0 on the machine that already have framework 3.5. And continue have sites working with other frameworks version?Or, should I develop my new webapplication in framawork 3.5 ?If I can install the framework 4.0, do I need make some specify configuration during the installation?

View 2 RepliesI recently I have upgraded my web application from 1.1 to 3.5.
Now the problem is support DLLs used in this application still in 1.1 only.
There is no way to change it. While accessing from 3.5 it is not showing any error msg.
But not giving expected results.
Is there any way to run this particular assembly in 1.1 and other in 3.5 ?

View 4 RepliesI understand that MVC can be added to an existing ASP.Net Webforms Web Site Project as explained in this post.
I am wondering if any expert here could tell us what MVC related functions of VS2010 would be missing in this scenario. For example, the very useful shortcuts of "Add View..." and "Go To View" seem to be missing. keep in mind this is about aWeb site project not Web application project so no project file (i.e. .csproj) is involved.
Is there a way to export a EF 4.0 Data Model to EF 3.5?
I looked around and found that we are not able to access EF 4.0 from a ASP.Net 3.5 project here: [URL]
Our project is the 1st to go to .Net 4.0 using Entity Framework and we (the team) were wondering if there was a way for the other projects that "might" need to access our data that are still using the .Net 3.5 framework.
I have two questions, could anybody please answer to those:1) Do I need to install Dotnet framework 2.0 if dotnet framework 3.5 is already installed on the same server?2) Also do I need to install "ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0" if higher version is installed on the same server?

View 1 RepliesWe have recently upgraded to Framework 3.5 from 2.0. Since then, areas of the site now do full postbacks where they did partial postbacks in 2.0. There are numerous cases and they seem to differ. In one case there is a image button within a repeater that
is in an update panel. The update panel is also within a user control. In 2.0 the click of the image button would cause a partial postback. Now in 3.5, it results in a full postback. If the repeaters' ItemCommand event is set up in the update panels' asyncpostback
triggers, it will work again. Shouldn't the controls be picked up by the updatepanel by default? Other areas of the site that use similar controls and methods seem to work fine.
Having to some kind of code fix is really not an option. We would require a full scale manual retest of the whole site to find all the partial postbacks that no longer work and try and fix. We do not have the time or resources to handle that. I am hoping there is a setting or property in the web.config that I am overlooking that could be set that would return everything to working as it did in 2.0.
I have web site where web application exist in asp.net2.0 ie Framework 2.0. Now I would like Add another web application of ASP.NET3.5 FRAMEWORK. After adding assemblies of 3.5. I am getting error in ajax 1.0 code where this code is called
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(p, cstype, csname1, cstext1,true );
Error stated as CS0433: The type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' exists in both 'c:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILSystem.Web.Extensions1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35System.Web.Extensions.dll' and 'c:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILSystem.Web.Extensions3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35System.Web.Extensions.dll'
Is there any possibility that these error can be rectified from web.config or only we have to delete the assembly file from server of 1.0
