I would like to implement IOC and DI and have been looking at the various open source IOC's such as Unity, StructureMap, Ninject, and Castle Windsor, but I noticed that some of them are based on .Net 3.5 framework. Does this matter? Which IOC's would be most suitable or easily integrates for use in an MVC3, EF4, and .NET 4 framework application? Which would be the simplest to implement?

When I tried to deploy the project using DotNet 2.0 using VS2010, it failed and no error message. I make sure all the Framework checkboxes have 2.0 checked. In the prerequisies window, I only checked the installer 3.1. In the Detected Dependencies, The Microsoft .NET Framework is 2.0. The development and target PCs are both XP - SP3. When I unpack the .msi file in the target PC and run the application, it crashed. The only way to make that work is to use VS2005 to perform the setup. Of course, copying the files over to the target PC directory works. So, the VS2010 setup is unpacking something at the target that makes it crash. VS2010 fixed the code-behind fatal bugs and I cannot go back to VS2005 or VS2008. I also noticed that you need to install 3.5 before you can use 2.0 in VS2010... Anybody knows what is going on ?

I have vs2005 and would like to install the ajax tool kit, I have seen several downloads and not sure what one i need.
From the ajax page here i get the link to
http://www.asp.net/ajaxlibrary/download.ashx and see minifier 4.0 also
From somewhere else (cant recall) i ended up at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ca9d90fa-e8c9-42e3-aa19-08e2c027f5d6&displaylang=en
for ASP.NET AJAX 1.0
Yet from another place
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EF2C1ACC-051A-4FE6-AD72-F3BED8623B43&displaylang=en
for ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0 Source Code
From the post writen with disapearing ink (sometimes i can see the posts some times i cant)
http://forums.asp.net/p/1055304/3645232.aspx#3645232
I see to down load ASPAJAXExtSetup.msi (Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0)
I am not an admin on my computer, i work in one of those places where it takes 1 week or more to get 1 thing installed.
Please help me find the exact items to install for vs2005 and the exact order. If i could do installs myself i would just keep trying till i got it, but if i take that approch i will be out of the job i started 2 wks for not getting anything done while i mess with this.

I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen. Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control. I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup. However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it. How can I accomplish this? I've included a copy of my current web.config file. You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.

I am creating a service oriented application where trying to have everything using services....however there is something I am not sure of , I am having a page that calls the database at the page load...so what would be better and faster?? to call database in pageload , or to call wcf service from javascript during javascript load ??btw , I am using a repeater in the page , but I have created somekind of an engine to create the suitable html so...I'll be creating the repeaters html using the wcf and resend it back to the page If I am using a wcf service at the start.

I am having issues with the AjaxControlToolkit.I started with the 3.5 version and backed up hoping for some love but I am still stuck in quiet desperation trying to meet my impossible deadline.I have changed my masterpage to use the ControlToolkitScriptmanager.System.Web.Extensions references v3.5.0.0 throughout the config.Version of the toolkit referenced in the VS2010 webpart project verified as 3.0.30930.28736
The issue is that no matter what control or extender I try to use I receive the following error:
The base class includes the field '(control/extender name)', but its type (AjaxControlToolkit.(control/extender)) is not compatible with the type of control (AjaxControlToolkit.(control/extender)).
If it would help I would post the entire web.config.If anyone has a working setup with a version of the toolkit I would love to get a copy!I will have to get Silverlight going next.

Basically, I'm lookuing to get some performance feedback and peoples thought about speeding up performance of my cascading drop down boxes.
Current;y I'm using a acces.db on the backend to populate the date.
It's just non populating for what I think is fast enough.
Would it be faster if I put the data in a real database? mssql, mysql, etc...
I wouldn't think it was my code, It's not even that many lines.

I have a Webforms, AJAX-enabled web page which, when rendering large amounts of data, is extremely slow to load in IE (we're married to IE - no other browser options). In an attempt to determine the source of the slowness, I viewed the HTML source (about 2.5 MB) and copied all of it (except for the Ajax JavaScript calls) to a blank .html file. IE renders this file MUCH faster than when the rendering happens through .Net. This seems to indicate that the AJAX JavaScript is slowing down the display of the page. Does this sound plausible? Any recommendations on improving performance here?
I've already eliminated as many UpdatePanel controls as I can from the page, but it doesn't seem to help with render time.Update... In the HTML source, I noticed that at the bottom of the screen, a call to WebForm_InitCallback() appears. When I executed this call directly through javascript:alert(WebForm_InitCallback());, the CPU spikes for 12 seconds before it completes! This call is here because I implemented ICallbackEventHandler to try to accomplish some traditional-style AJAX handling. Looking at WebResource.axd, that WebForm_InitCallback() method iterates through the entire form and attaches some kind of events to EVERY SINGLE textbox, checkbox, radiobutton, etc. So I guess I really need to abandon ScriptManager and UpdatePanel altogether here.

I've just started investigating the Microsoft Ajax Minifer 4.0 for use with a Visual Studio 2008 Web Application I work on. It's proven easy enough to hook it into the .csproj file so it produced .min.js files for all scripts, however I'm stumped as to how to integrate this with the Web Setup project & Source Control.
Essentially what I want to do is have the resultant .min.js files included in the Web Setup project without having them included in Source Control because:
Having to check them out prior to the build being executing is a pain (the minifier cannot modify them if they're not checked out).
As they're created as a "build artifact" it just seems wrong to have them stored under source control.
The only option I've managed to come across so far is to explicitly include the .min.js files as part of the Setup project by right clicking on the Web Setup project and choosing "Add > File", and then having the relevant folder hierarchy duplicated in "File System on Target Machine" so that I can force the file to the correct location. This is neither elegant or simple/robust as:
It requires me to manually add every minified js file to the Web Setup project by hand Maintain a copy of the relevant directory structure in both the Web Application project and the Web Setup projec Remember to add any new js files minified versions to the Web Setup project.

I have the following web farm setup in production server. Browser --> HTTPS --> Load Balancer --> HTTP --> webserver node F5 Load balancer handles off box SSL termination. It implies that SSL resides on F5 load balancer. Problem Statement: Ajax calls do not go through unless "Access data sources across domains" option is enabled in IE security settings.
I have the similar setup in staging server except F5 Load balancer. The ASP.Net application makes perfect AJAX calls on both HTTP and HTTPS. However, the staging server web farm use windows NLB and SSL resides on individual web server nodes
