Configuration :: Running Framework 2.0 Application Within Framework 4.0 Website
May 18, 2010
I host a website that has recently been upgraded from .NET Framework 2.0 to .NET Framework 4.0. Within the website, I have an instance of BlogEngine which still requires .NET Framework 2.0. Each website is in it's own application pool. My issue is that when I browse to the blog portion of my website, I receive a 500.19 error with the following information...
The configuration section 'system.web.extensions' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration The web.conf file that is listed in the error message is the config file that belongs to my root website which is running .NET Framework 4.0. How do I get the two websites to run together in the same website using different versions of the .NET Framework?
1)My Windows services application folder is MyWInservice
2)Executable .exe i.e. “myServices .exe“ file located under MyWInservice \myServicesinDebug
3)I have RUN bat file C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727InstallUtil.exe /u "myServices.exe" C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727InstallUtil.exe "myServices.exe"
4)After running InstallUtil, myServices.InstallLog and myServices.InstallStategenerated under .. binDebug folder.
5)Upon pressing F5, I still get the same error. Error is:
Windows Service Start Failure,Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command.
I have this cenario:One server (machine) that have framework 3.5. And one site (website) developed for framework 3.5.This site can not be modified (rebuild in other FW version, or others changes).
I'll developer a new webapplication (WAP) in framework 4.0 (using microsoft visual web developer 2010).
As I know, the new webaplication work in the server, if I install framework 4.0 in the server.
My question is: Can I install the framework 4.0 on the machine that already have framework 3.5. And continue have sites working with other frameworks version?Or, should I develop my new webapplication in framawork 3.5 ?If I can install the framework 4.0, do I need make some specify configuration during the installation?
I have recently developed a new vs2010 web application that I would like to add to my web site.
The existing website was developed using vs2008. The web site is hosted on a windows 2008 server running iis 7. My new web application sits below my main website i.e. mywebite mywebsite/mynewwebsite
I have set the application pools for the mynewwebsite to be asp.net v4.0, leaving the application pools for mywebsite as .net v2.0 If I try and open my new web application i.e. [URL] then I get 500. Internal server error. I assume that it is iis that is unhappy here. Do I have to rebuild the whole of my web site to be vs2010 using asp.net v4.0. If I do should I use ASP.Net v4.0 or ASP.net v4.0 Classic for my application pools, and should I have a separate and distinct application pool for each of my web applications ( I have 4 of these) Just to clarify my clients can log on the web site as
I am having trouble doing it. Getting error becuase two different web.config file in each one of them. In my ROOT folder I have a web application written in ASP.NET framework 2.0 . Now, I have all kind of sub-folders for other applications in .NET 2.0 or 3.5 . This is the first time I have sub-folder with application in .NET 4.0. There is a conflict between two web configuration files. How can I solve it? I cannot change the Root or other sub-folder, only If there isn't any other way to solve this.
When I create a new website in IIS and its associated application pool, I get the option of setting the .NET framework to 1.0 or 2.0.Via windows updates I have installed versions 3.0 and 3.5..however these dont show up in the drop down list.I read that the aspnet_regiis -i command needs to be run in the installed .NET framework folder for it to be visible in IIS.However, the aspnet_regiis.exe is only present in the 1.0 and 2.0 folders. Can I use the same exe to register the 3.5 framework with IIS?
I'm using AjaxPro & AjaxControlToolkit in my project. My project is normally running on Server 2003 with IIS 6. But when i loaded my project on Server 2008, i'm getting "AjaxPro undefined" error. My project is working .Net Framework 4.0 Classic mode.
I have read some articles about the new enitity framework and I think it looks very cool from a development perspective.
considering a production environment loaded with data. How does one apply changes to the model? You cannot regenerate the model and in most large organizations, database changes are executed by DBS's and not developers. In such situaitons, it is the role of the developer to develop delta-scripts that the dba can execute.
My experiense with Hibernate (Java) and the like is that you have to pay double when using such frameworks.
We are developping with .net framework 2.0 on our dev station and we deploy on web server and client desktop a 3 tiers smart client app. what is the impact of ugrading to .net framework 2.0 sp2 on our web servers WITHOUT upgrading on dev station and compilation servers?
I have a website that is configured to run .Net framework 4 mode. And then I need to add another website that runs .Net Framework 3.5 as a sub site to the one that run .Net 4. So in IIS 7 I added my website that run .Net 4 as a web application (.Net 4 application pool), and then I added my .Net 3.5 website as a sub application (.Net 3.5 application pool)So my structure look like this...localhostmyDotNet4WebsitemyDotNet35webSiteI can run the .Net 4 website, but when I try to run the 3.5 version I get a error on this line..
How do I create a .net framework 2.0 website in Visual Web Developer Express Edition? The only option I get when trying to create a new website is for it to be .net version 3.5.
I made one application which consumes WCF service and also using nettcp protocal. As we know, WCF application requires .Net3.0 and .Net 3.5 framework. but we have some dealer machine which are having window server 2000 OS now i am not able to install .net 3.5 framework on dealer machine . So we are not able to upgrade old application with new application which are totally based on WCF framework .
I have an old Web application which is using net framework 2.0(build with vs2005), now i need to move the old Web application to production server which has .net framwork 3.5 installed. Do I need recompile the web application with vs2008 or i can just go head move the the Web application without recompiling, it will automatically work?
I am trying to get the .NET Framework Configuration Tool installed on my server. I am running windows server 2008 with .NET 3.5 SP1 and Visual Studio 2008.
I have dowloaded and installed the lastest version of the Windows SDK but the .NET Framework Configuration Tool is still not installed.
I searched the drive on the server for the mscorcfg.msc file and it is not there but the mscorcfg.dll is there.
After the installation of Windows SDK the program manager now shows the Windows SDK v7.1 option with a group of programs under it, but none are the .NET Framework Configuration tool.
Does anyone know how I can get the .NET Framework Configuration tool installed?
I converted my application to 4.0 so I can use VS2010. However, after making the change I discovered I could no longer get the application to work in expression web 3.0. I am short of time so I would like to convert back to 3.5. How do I doconvert my application to run on framework 3.5?
Okay, I am trying to deploy a .Net framework 4 website on IIS7 server. I have already changed the application-pool's target framework to .Net 4, but the app is still showing me the error:
"The configuration section 'system.web.extensions' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration"
I am guessing that has something to do with the new feature of .Net4 that lets me have a compact Web config file. I think for some reason IIS7 is not happy with this. What can I do to deploy this app successfully or do I have to scale back to v3.5? I am sure there is a solution out there.
I have an assembly loaded in the "old location" GAC at C:Windowsassembly. The applications using the GAC are being developed in Visual Studio 2010 and the .NET framework 3.5. Now, I moved all of my applications to a new development server and I'm using gacutil.exe to install the assembly into the GAC on that new server but, it's installing to C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETassembly. I know the 4.0 framework gacutil.exe installs the assembly to the new GAC location . how to install it to the old location.
we previously used to host our asp website using 2.0 framework.we developed our new code on our local machines using .net 3.5 and when we tried to deploy the code after installing 3.5 framework on the server we are getting the below error message
Could not load the assembly App_web_4tlvao-n
what wrong did we do or do we have to configure the IIS separately once again for the new code
But I have other tests that are essentially deployment tests (you can't test how the production deployment went using a unit test on a build server) and I'd like to use the nUnit framework to run these. But, the production server doesn't have the nUnit command line executer. I'm only allowed to run aspx pages and reference .dll's in bin. What do I need to do to run tests (yeah, yeah, they're not really unit tests--relax) using nUnit in a webpage? Is there a straight forward way to do this, or does this essentially require porting the nUnit winforms test runner to ASP.NET?
I have a website which is hosted on GoDaddy they have version 4.0 runtime. The issue is the client id of the server controls are generated as "contentPlaceHolder1_drpBanks" where it was earlier (when the website was on some other server) getting generated as "ctl00_contentPlaceHolder1_drpBanks".
What I need to know is there a way to resolve this so that I don't have to make any changes in the code.
