The error only shows up if the page is viewed as HTTPS (SSL).2. After login in the application if user waits for 1 min or more before doing a postback.Page size is about 200kb. I need to create an ASP.net web page application displays a report based on XML data.
I'm told that I must get my XML data from https://www.example.com/foo.xml. I would like for my ASP.net application to get the data server side, interpret it, and display a report.
I need to know to things:
1) How do I make the .net framework retrieve the XML data from https://www.example.com/foo.xml at run-time.
2) How do I get the data set to an appropriate object type so that my program can read it?

I have an asp.net web service which has SSL enabled via IIS. It works fine if the user uses https, however I have a user that insists on using http on the url.
What I'd like to do is have the web service (asmx) do the equivalent of the response.redirect to change http to https automatically.
I don't believe that I can do this from a web service so does anyone know a of a similar solution for web services.

We just moved an ASP.net application to a new server and are now getting this error when we try to return to a page: Http/1.1 Service Unavailable
In testing, I find that the address of the page does not include the SSL designator. It is trying to use http:// instead of https://. This value is coming from the Context.Request.Url property of the page.
why Context.Request.Url would not return the "https" for a page under SSL?

I am working with VS 2010, Entity framework, SQl-Server 2005, ASP.Net web forms. Currently, I am working on the Data access layer library which soon will be a web service, using Entity Framework collaboration with different design patterns like repository pattern and some best practices that posts in different blogs. I am also test each repository using the Unit testing project. Thumbs up! Working fine.
The thing I am worried about is, how much is good for retrieving data from a table that can contain 80-100k records ?

We have page that allows the users to upload documents (multiple). When the upload takes a long time - either due to the size of the files or due to slow upload speeds - we get a exception saying "Request timed out".
We found that the exception is thrown as soon as the upload is complete. So we have modified the executionTimeout config entry to 6000 secs. But this error still shows up consistently. We are running IIS6, .net 3.5 sp1 (asp .net 2.0).
Update.I'm able to reproduce this issue with relatively small files (multiple files with total of 75MB)

The strangest thing: Safari 4 will show me the HTML in View Source but it will not render the content in the page. Chrome 5 which is supposed to be the same WebKit parser renders the page as expected. Where could I possibly start to debug this?

I have a problem with Opacity in my project - it turns the screen a solid colour instead of see-thru.
I am displaying a rotating wheel in a panel and using modalpopupextender.
1) Only happens in IE8
2) Only happens when there is a lot of data displayed on screen (i.e Datagrid displaying a lot of records).
[code]....
Example of my issue:
I have a screen with a Tab Control with 3 tabs.
Tab 2 and 3 contain a small amount of data on the grid (10 to 20 records), Tab 1 contains 1000+ records.
All this is within an Update Panel - the tabcontrol have AutoPostback set to on.
Now if I click tab 2 -> tab 3 -> tab 2 -> tab 3 etc then the progress show correctly with an opaque screen.
If I click Tab 1 the pop displays but the screen is a solid colour. If I try Tab 2 or 3 again the screen stays a solid colour.

I'm using the MVC2 framework and one of my views has a bit of conditional logic that gets the Page.User.Identity object and does a comparison with other values to determine what to display. That all works fine on the initial page load, but when I make an AJAX call to get partial page updates (I'm doing this all manually with YUI3, not the .NET AJAX stuff) the Page.User object is always null.

I have an AJAX controller action which returns JSON. The returned JSON is handled via jQuery and contains a message displayed in an update div. The JSON also contains a flag which indicates a change in state. If this is true the entire page needs to be reloaded from a different url. This is currently performed in the jQuery using window.location.replace(url). In the situation where a full page refresh occurs, I still want to display the message from the JSON in the update div, but after the page has fully reloaded.
How can I ensure the div is updated with the message after the window.location.replace call and the page has been completely reloaded? (I realise AJAX is not intended for full page refreshes but I can't think of a simple way of avoiding it in this scenario. Normal behaviour here is updating the div with a status message.)

I have a following issue (it's only happening in Internet Explorer).
I add callback to a page in the old-fashioned way -> Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(...)
The scenario is: 1) The default page is being loaded. On Page_OnLoad it assigns a NULL to some session key. Let's call it Control -> Session["Control"] = null;
2) User presses a button and gets redirected to a next page (let's call it NextPage.aspx) using javascript event -> window.location.assign(....) (also tried .href = ... - no help)
3) The NextPage.aspx assigns some value to Session["Control"] on Page_OnLoad
5) User clicks a button on the NextPage.aspx and a callback request is being sent to a server....
TA DA!!! The interesting part:
6) Along with the request to the NextPage.aspx another request is being sent to the default page.
7) The only response is being recieved by a client is a response from the NextPage.aspx BUT since the code on the default page is being executed it puts null to the Session["Control"] which screws all my following scenario. the default page doesn't recognize the request as a callback? so if(IsCallback) {} doesn't help....
I believe it's not a code issue since as I wrote above it works in development environment, but I have no clue what can 'cause it to fail in production and only in IE...
At least what to start to look at... and I have Helicon's ISAPI Rewrite installed on the production server. It doesn't seem to be the cause but who knows....
Correction
if I do not assign window.location and just add a link to the NextPage.aspx and click it manualy after callback ended it still sends extra request to the default page. if I click the link before I initialize callback it works fine without extra request.

I use ASP.NET Ajax in my web site and I am monitoring the HTTP requests per each page. I am surprised by the excessive call of ScriptResource.axd with different query string variables. I am pasting a sample of HTTP trace below. The call for ScriptResource.axd take lots time percentage out of total response time. Is this by design or there is something wrong with my AJAX configuration in web.config?
[Code]....
Actually it is degrading the performance of the application. And the user experience becoming very poor in case of lower bandwidth.

I have a previously working ASPX website which also supports AJAX. However, we just upgraded our SQL Server from 2008 Evaluation to 2008 R2 version 10.50.16 and now this website is no longer working. I believe the problem is that now we need to again restore original SQL accounts and settings prior to this upgrade. This website also uses AJAX. Which accounts need to be created to fix this problem? When I navigate to this URL, I get the message below:
The address is not valid.

I need to force SSL when going to the final checkout page (for example from default.aspx to checkout.aspx).
I need to pass variables to this check out page and tried to use server.transfer(https://www.mydomain.com/checkout.aspx). I then use previous page .Fincontrol to read text box and label name to this check out page. If I only do the server.transfer("~/checkout.aspx") then my I can read all vakues of my controls from the passing default.aspx page.
But when I force https:// then I cannot read the control values from default.aspx page.
Please give me some tips on how to get control values to the https:// destination page or if you have another tips on how to do it the right way, please let me know.

Building asp.C# shopping app that is using a hosted payment page to process payments (using posting of data to a hosted payment page). SSL certificate is signed and installed.
Flow:
Prelim) (HTTPS) Users authenticate using asp Login control
1) Users add items to cart.
2) (HTTPS)Users go to checkout page.
3) Users finalize their order, then click pay now after agreeing to T&C.
4) Server gets cart data (from MSSQL2005) and sets a transaction cookie (expiry set to 20 mins).
5) (HTTPS) Server Response.Redirects to an html page (in the same folder as the login protected pages).
6) Html page reads transaction cookie data and generates form fields.
7) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted payment page (php).
8) User enters payment info and clicks pay now.
9) (HTTPS) hosted payment page posts info back to a .aspx page that checks if payment OK.
10a) If payment !OK, redirects to a declined page.
10b) (HTTPS) If payment OK, sets a verification cookie (expiry set to 20 mins). Then redirects to another html page.
11) Html page reads cookie data and generates form fields.
12) (HTTPS) Html page posts data to hosted verification page (php).
13) Verification page verifies (of course), if transaction ok.
14) (HTTPS) verification page posts data to a .aspx page that checks if verification OK.
15) If verification OK, process orders and do receipt stuff.
Issue:
This control flow was tested on an unsigned dev environment. SSL was being enforced, if needed on the unsigned SSL certificate. So we'd get prompts that certificate may be bad, but the control flow worked seamlessly.
However, now live with a signed SSL certificate, going from step 5 to 6, we are encountering a situation where some users (not duplicated every time, but verified that it does occur) when they click pay now and are redirected to the html page, they are forced back to the ~/login.aspx page (as if they were logged out).
Things to note:
a) The session did not time out.
b) The browsers have cookies and javascript enabled.
c) I can process the entire flow seamlessly on the same machine with other accounts, and occasionally, the same account.
So, basically, I'm stumped... Is this a viewstate error? A login control bug that won't let me redirect to an html page because it is now using a real SSL? Anyone have any experience with this kind of deal? I'm at a loss for solutions at this point.

How can I set up my page load event in my code behind to redirect to an url that has an https prefix? I would need it to work with urls that have query strings attached too. It's one thing to construct a link that goes straight to the https page, but I don't want the user to be able to manually change it to an http page. Also I don't want to do it with javascript because it might be turned off.

I have a site that has a mix of http and https pages. Under the root of the site, one folder has all the http pages and another has all the https pages. Login is over https and sends the user to the other pages. When a session expires the forms authentication redirects to the Login page but the browser uses http and the user gets a 403 error. Is there any way to override the session timeout to send it to https?
