View 6 RepliesI have a table with primary key whose importance is technically high and none business wise. So, when I display the table data to user, I would like not to show him the primary key. Even if I load it in sqldatasource and dont show (I did this by removing the cloumn in "Columns" tag of GridView), I am not able to update or delete row using the built-in UpdateCommand & DeleteCommand. I have created the delete paramters but it does nothing when I hit the delete button.How to get around it?
View 2 RepliesHow can i update, delete 2 table in gridview?
I have created 2 table in access
1. Recipient (Userid, RecipientId, RecipientName, Company, DeliveryAddressId)
2. MailingAddress (Id, BuildingInfo, StreetInfo, City, Province)
I connected this gridview with sqldatasource
"SELECT Recipient.UserId, Recipient.RecipientId, Recipient.RecipientName, Recipient.Company, MailingAddress.BuildingInfo, MailingAddress.StreetInfo, MailingAddress.City, MailingAddress.Province FROM (Recipient INNER JOIN MailingAddress ON Recipient.DeliveryAddressId = MailingAddress.Id)"
The gridview it can select from 2 table, (RecipientId, RecipientName, Company, BuildingInfo, StreetInfo, City, Province) but cannot update 2 table.
I'd like to delete the row without using the DeleteCommand in GridView. I created the button "Obrisi" which should delete the row from the table, but when I click on it I get the following error: "The multi-part identifier "System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlFieldCell" could not be bound." and I don't understand what the problem is.
Here is the code (part of the code after else if is important):

View 1 RepliesGridView: grvResultPrimary Key: FLTIDTextBox: txtRemarksThere is a button named btnAdd in the FormView named FormView2.txtRemarks is outside the form.The scenario is that if user wants to add a record with empty textbox and click btnAdd then how to restrict user to add empty row to gridview?I have tried Validation by controling txtRemarks but it is not helpful for me because in the page there is a FormView1, FormView2 and grvResult.If I am applying validation then all other updation methods of FormView1 and grvResult are disturbing.Simple is that I want to give option to user that without empty data using txtRemarks, user can enter data to grvResult.

I am trying to delete or add rows in a table but since the table is in an update panel,upon deletion the row goes away and then comes back.I have tried using return false but it does not seem to work in IE or FF.
I am using the following code:
$(document).ready(function () {
$(.table).click (function ()}
(this).parent().remove();
[code]...
Basically I need a way to disable the postback.
I want to know how to Update / delete the table records in ASPNETDB.MDF in single update / delete query ?

View 5 RepliesI have a grid in which multiple delete is to be implemented but before deletion it should show confrmation box which will ask to delete or not.
But this confirmation bo must be an ajax modal popup extender confirmation box not javascript.
My code for multiple delete:
protected void annDelete_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
foreach (GridViewRow row in GridView1.Rows) {
CheckBox cb = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("chk_delete");
if (cb.Checked && cb != null) {
{
modalconfirmbox.show();
int ID_No = Convert.ToInt32(GridView1.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value);
//code to delete where id =ID_No and bindgrid
} }
} }
This delete code is working and confirmation is appering. but you click yes or no or click none in modalconfirm rows will be deleted.

Something "weird" is happening with my ASP.NET application. I have a MasterPage with WebForms, and inside one of them, I have an ASP TextBox which is controlled by the MaskedEditExtender/MaskedEditValidator couple. Underneath, I have a GridView with 2 columns, an Edit ASP Command Field, an ItemTemplate which contains an ASP ImageButton with a Delete CommandName linked to a GridViewDelete Event through the OnRowDeleting attribute. The GridView is binded with SQL Server data while the page is loading.
It appears that once the page is loaded, if I want to delete a row by clicking on the ASP ImageButton, nothing appears. I have first to do something else with the GridView (raise an Edit Event for example), then it's accessible. I try different stuff to catch the source of the problem, and the "weird" part appeared when I deleted the MaskedEditValidator, just keeping the MaskedEditExtender : the Delete ASP ImageButton worked since the page loads!
How do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType != DataControlRowType.DataRow) return;
int lastCellIndex = e.Row.Cells.Count - 1;
Button db = (Button)e.Row.Cells[lastCellIndex].Controls[0];
db.OnClientClick = "if (!window.confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this record?')) return false;";
}
But, when I have both the Edit and the Delete buttons, I get the following error when I click the edit button while the delete button works fine.
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: index
How do I reference the delete button so the edit button is not affected in this case?
Using "Enable Delete" from Gridview control, I can delete (besides, update, sort, paging, etc) data from the database (this is done automatically). However, how can I delete the actual image that resides in my image folder (i.e. from "pix" folder )? What is the best way to delete image? If using code behind, how? Please write a full code for me. Here is my source code.
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="photoID"
I am using Sharepoint Designer and trying to insert a Delete button into a gridview. I added this to the top of my ASPX:
<%@ Register Tagprefix="SharePoint" Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls"
Assembly="Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>
and I added this as a Gridview column:
<SharePoint:DeleteItemButton
runat="server"
ID="CustomFormDeleteItemButton"
ControlMode="Edit"
/>
and this is the error I get:
An error occurred during the processing of . System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlFieldCollection must have items of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlField'. 'SharePoint:DeleteItemButton' is of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DeleteItemButton'.
I have a gridview with edit and delete parameters enabled. When I click on the edit link, I can edit the record successfully. However when I click on the delete link, nothing happens (the record does not get deleted).

I have a gridview (gridview-a) with a link button when the user click on this link button it opens a separate modal pop up extender with another grid view (gridview-b) (working fine) I added a close button inside the panel. When the user click on it the modal pop up is getting closed. Excellent.
Now my problem is When I add Edit,Save and Update buttons to the gridview-b ( i.e. Present inside Popup) when ever I click on the edit , or save or update buttons it is going to the gridview-a. How can I avoid that? Do I have to keep the gridview inside a update Panel and make the update mode conditional? If thats true how can I edit , save and delete the rows ( I need to call stored prcedures and all row-databound functions to do that)

I want to delete grid view row on button click .when I select a row and click on delete button the selected row should be delete using jquery,with out using database . I want to do this work on button click using jquery
Following the my jqury code for delete
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function () {
$("[id*=GridView1] td").hover(function () {
$("td", $(this).closest("tr")).addClass("hover_row");
}, function () {
$("td", $(this).closest("tr")).removeClass("hover_row");
[code]....
i am working without using data base only delete from gridview.
[Code]....
I can open the modalpopup, can close the popup, but if i click the "edit" button to edit any of rows, the popup closes automatically. If I click again, the "Update" and "Cancel" buttons shows, and after clicking one of those, popup closes again. The above code works, if i use gridview the insert, edit or delete the data, does not close automatically. What may be the cause of this problem.
