how to insert,update,delete row in gridview without saving in database ?suppose 1 textbox,1 button and 1 gridview .textbox and button outside of gridview.
I am trying to delete or add rows in a table but since the table is in an update panel,upon deletion the row goes away and then comes back.I have tried using return false but it does not seem to work in IE or FF.

I want to delete file available on server and same time I want to update the filename column in my database.If I delete file first and then update database and an error come in updating database my file is already gone.If I update database first and then delete file from from disk and an error occur my file information in database is already gone Can any one tell me how I can do it both successfully. I am trying to create Web Application using ASP.Net via Visual Studio 2010. The Database that I use is Access, with connection Method OleDb
When using the query "Update" or "Delete", the programs shows no errors, but the data in Access does not change. While for query "Select" and "Insert", the data is displayed and inserted successfully.

Previously I tried a direct query using AccessDataSource, but the result just the same, Update and Delete can't be done. But the Select and Insert can be executed successfully.
Is there any problem with my Access configuration or whether the problem is in the coding itself..?

My code is not updating the sql database. I am definately passing the correct information in to this function, and it runs without errors. If I exec the procedure with the passed in data, it works great. Can someone tell me what is missing?

I have two databases. When I am using MS Visual Web Developer, I can drag the table onto the webpage and it gives me check boxes to Insert, Update, Delete,...When I do the exact thing using the other database, it only has check boxes forpaging, sorting and selection. What is the difference? I seem to have all teh same permissions in both databases.
I'm having a gridview in my aspx page with checkbox, User can select one or more than one record(s) at a time and clicks on delete button, Then i'm constructing an object of my DTO and adding all the checked row's Primary Key (DataKeyNames - GUID's in case) to a serializable class and generating an XML and sending it as parameter to the Stored Procedure.
My Doubt is, can i bulk delete all the rows from database table those are present in my XML document??
If it works, I can do bulk update with XML only, i already did bulk insertion by generating an XML..
My Another Question is, Will it affect the performance? Each time when i construct an DTO object and adding it to the Generic List??
WHich one is better, I mean ObjectDataSource or SQLDataSource or my XML method?

I have one GridView and one "Add" Button. If I click the "Add" button, one new row will be added to the GridView at the sametime I want to show "Update and Cancel" buttons in CommandField Column.
When I click the Update Button after the Insertion of the New Row, I want to Show the Delete Button in the Command Field Column. Once again When I click the Delete Button, the Corresponding row will have to be deleted.
So far I have done all the four things(update, cancel, edit and delete) at the same. But now I dont want Edit. The problem is when I include "ShowDeleteButton = True" in the command field, the "update and cancel" buttons are not displaying when I click the "Add" button.The "update cancel" buttons are displaying only when I include "ShowEditButton = true". But I dont want to Edit the Column.

when i press my delete command at gridview... the status changed into "INACTIVE" but when i refresh or press f5... it automatically update the status into "INACTIVE" also...
I have a table with primary key whose importance is technically high and none business wise. So, when I display the table data to user, I would like not to show him the primary key. Even if I load it in sqldatasource and dont show (I did this by removing the cloumn in "Columns" tag of GridView), I am not able to update or delete row using the built-in UpdateCommand & DeleteCommand. I have created the delete paramters but it does nothing when I hit the delete button.How to get around it?
