I have a very simple UpdatePanel with tow buttons: "Add drop down list" and "Remove drop down list".
I was able to create and remove drop down list dynamically on the page.
My problem is that when I select an item in a drop down list and then click "Add drop down list", the page does not "remember" the selection of the first drop down list! How could I retrieve that selected item?
1. I have couple of checkboxes and some text fields outside the updatepanel.
2. Based on the checkbox selection, I will be hiding/showing the fields to user using javscript.
3. I have a upload control in the same page which is placed under the updatepanel. When I upload the file, I will be reading the content of the file and I'm trying to load it into the controls which are outside the updatepanel. As I know the controls won't updated until unless it has been added under the updatepanel.
4. I moved all the controls outside the udpatepanel (checkboxes and textboxes) and placed it inside the updatepanel so that when the file is uploaded I can read the file and assign to the controls.
After this, I was able to assign the values to the control. However, the problem is, the state of the page (javascript hide and show) has not been retained during the postback. For example, if i have 2 checkboxes and 2 textboxes, if i click firstone, it should show the first checkbox. If I click the second checkbox, it will show the second textbox. By default, when the fresh load happens, first textbox will be shown. When I click the second checkbox (its showing the second textbox) and do the postback by uploading the file, the state gets lost and when the page load completes, it's showing the first textbox instead of showing the second textbox.
I write code in asp.net I always solve issues by finding solutions with other members who have the problem before me. But this time I don't know how to do...
This is my problem :
I have a gridview inside an updatepanel and i modified some headers in order to filter the collection. This worked but when my updatepanel is updating, my textbox for the filter clear the value (the text) and lost focus.
This is my code :
[Code]....
[Code]....
The function FilterText(this) only set a timeout before fire postback.
i am using a TabContainer and at each TabPanel i have embed an UpdatePanel in order to update each tab alone.
this is my code:
[Code]....
the problem is that it makes several seconds to update each tab (the same time for every tab) and i asume that this is happening because it updates all the TabContainer and not the selected Tab.
I have two Repeater controls, each hosted in a user control. Both user controls are contained in the same aspx page. Only one User Control is visible at any one time. The repeaters are comprised of checkboxes, and text boxes for user input.
The aspx page is configured with an Ajax ScriptManager; and contains several Ajax UpdatePanels. These UpdatePanels result in partial page post backs when text is changed in a textbox control in controls on the aspx page (this is not the behaviour for the Repeaters in the User Controls). Through use of several AsyncPostBackTriggers, various controls contained in the other UpdatePanels on the page have their content refreshed in response to the partial page post backs they are configured be notified about.
Depending on a radio button group selection, I set the visible property to true or false - as appropriate for the User control containing a repeater control. The Repeater control is then populated with data using databinding. All of this works.
However, when the Submit button is clicked, the Repeater control contains no data.
Given that I am not dynamically adding the Controls containing the Repeater controls (but using Visible true / false). I would have thought that the State of the fields and the data in the visible control would be preserved during the post back.
The User Controls are contained within the UpdatePanel that contains the Submit Button.
I have explicitly Enabled View state without any effect.
Am I correct in assuming that I should not have to do any explicit handling of data changes the user makes (via client side script and manipulation of an Data Structure Representing the Repeater Data); and the View State should maintain the data I need to access on the server when submitted?
I do not believe that it is the User Control visible state changes that are causing the issue because when the page is initially loaded on of the User controls is populated with dummy rows (so it displays).
I am suspicious that because the visible state of the controls is changed during partial page post back, that the Page View State ends up with no knowledge of the User Control and therefore cannot track its data (or changes).
I have two updatepanels on my site (upanProfileSearch and upanMemberList). When I hit the button in the upanProfileSearch it should bind the Data Items in the gridview in upanMemberList and here make a RowFilter on the text in upanProfileSearch. When I make a run to curser, I can see, it happens. It makes a RowFilter. but it doesn't update the gridview. Can anyone tell me why it doesn't update? I have UpdateMode="Always" and RenderMode="inline" on both UpdatePanels.
I have a dropdownlist, that causes a postback. On the SelectedIndexChanged event, is it possible to force a placeholder that is within a different UpdatePanel to change it's visibility?
For example, when the SelectedItem.Value of DropDownList1 is "1" then show Placeholder1, otherwise hide it.
What I am most interested in is how to configure the UpdatePanels to allow this.
I have a web user control with one updatepanel (pnlUpdate_2), some controls and one apply button. I display the web user control as a modalpopup in my default page. In my default page i have an updatepanel (pnlUpdate_1) with a gridview and I modify that gridview with the apply button of the web user control. The web user control is for made a custom search of the gridview data. I have a problem with both updatepanels. If I set the updatemode as always in one of them (pnlUpdate_1) and the other as conditional (pnlUpdate_2), the pnlUpdate_1 make a postback in the pnlUpdate_2; I'm not an expert on this but I think that's why the pnlUpdate_2 disappear and reappear after postback of some controls in that updatepanel (not the apply button, it close the modal after postback). I try all the combinations and the problem persists. So I put both updatepanels as conditional and in some way it works; now the problem is that when I click the apply button in pnlUpdate_2 to modify the gridview in pnlUpdate_1 the pnlUpdate_1 not made the postback I get the pnlUpdate_2 postback when I use some control inside the pnlUpdate_1.
How can I postback the pnlUpdate1 from pnlUpdate_2 with the apply button?
I'm evaluating using Ajax in a new project and so I've developed a simple web page to test a few things, however even the simplest task seems to cause my session to be cleared. I am using VS2008 with .Net 3.5 SP1 and the page is in my existing solution which has several custom handlers and modules in the web.config. Below is the code I'm using, it's a simple test which puts a variable into the session then on the buttons postback tries to get the same variable, however it always fails as the session is blank.
I have a page to wich I had several controls dynamically. When the page is posted back via Ajax, the values of the dynamically control do not make it server side. However, everything works well if the page is posted back in the normal way ( without Ajax).
I need the post back to be done via Ajax because I need to use the Callback function to perform other tasks in the UI once the call returns.I found this excellent article but it doesn't discuss ajax:
I have an asp.net login page, which when initialized sets some session variables. When the user clicks login, an AJAX request is made which validates the user and sets additional session variables and returns a result to the client. The client is then redirected based on the login result. In the redirected page, I can access the session variables set when the login page was initialized (i.e. before the login) but none are present for those set during the login validation (part of an ajax call).
is this expected behaviour? Why would an ajax call generate a new session and thus cause the data to be lost?
I built a page with a cascading dropdown extension tied to a db, (and another one to xlm source), which was working fine. then I tried to update my ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll becuase I had an old version, then the sudden the all the data in the dropdown lists is lost.
i am using an update panel inside this i am using a jquery image upload which works fine outside an update panel, but when inside i think the javascript is not instalising. i have tried using RegisterClientScriptBlock without success.
the javascript is belo, because its a document.ready how can i make sure this is not lost in a update panel?
$(document).ready(function() { /* example 1 */ var button = $('#button1'), interval; new AjaxUpload(button, {
i have a website with three UpdatePanel Control and inside of each UpdatePanels has ONE Gridview and a SqlDataSource Control.
all gridviews are connected to its own SqlDataSource Control. so technically when i run my website all gridviews automatically get their data from their respective SqlDataSource Control and display them accordingly.
but what i need to do is instead of letting all the update panels to load each gridview their data upon Onload event, i need the updatepanel to update on queue, (Technically changing the UpdateMode to Conditional does not solve my problem.) there will be an event which will trigger the updatepanel to update later.
The Item is applied for GridViewRow. This GridView is in a UpdatePanel, when I click a button to do a Ajax Post Back the CSS applied for the GridViewRow is useless (IE 6 only).
updatePanel(inside this updatePanel i have below control) FormView SqlDataSource(with select command that has Parameter and Gets it's Value From TextBox) TextBox
now i want when user inter data in the TextBox and change the Focus to other control the UpdatePanel Update.
(i want my updatePanel Update when focus of TextBox Change)
When I use the code below an error accur when click add button to insert into sql because the selected value in DropDownList is back to --select-- Idon't know why it should be the the value I selectedbut when not use this code and bind the DropDownList using wizard it works but I need to use the code to make the first selection is --select--.
private void PopulateDropDownList() { string constr = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings[1].ConnectionString; using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(constr)) { using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT Country_ID,Country_Name FROM Country", con)) { using (SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd)) {
I m using ajax accordion control to display the information of my company branches. Now it always displays one pane at a time. But i want that it should not display any pane at a time. Only a single pane should be displayed when user click on header of that pane.
I have a Gridview select button and whole gridview enclosed with Update Panel + trigger on select. I found CSS of Gridview lost on select. How to deal with this ?
I am attempting to retrofit a web application that had a rudimentary, yet mostly effective navigation infrastructure that, when properly utilized, allowed navigating forward and backward through AJAX states and other pages through the use of additional <asp:Button> objects labeled "Back" to perform special code for restoring previous states. There was an elaborate stack push and pop algorithm for this. The effect was very similar to what is described in Diagram 1 (AStatex refers to an AJAX related state of the page). The reason for this is so that it takes away the reliance on the contrived Back button and so that accidentally hitting the browser's back button or hitting the Backspace key won't cause a loss of state.
I am unable to get the selected value of the DropDownList. When the user selects a value and clicks OK, the value that was loaded as the default selected value with an index of 0 is available in code behind, not the newly selected value. See the attached code for the dropdownlist in the Modal Popup form.
