When I remote the MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator, it doesnt show that (undesired) behaviour anymore.Is there something special these controls do that cause them to refresh? Is there a workaround for this?

Unfortunately I'm not sure which forum would be best to post this under, since I am wondering whether either the MaskedEdit AJAX controls or Entity Data Model could be configured to allow for this.ProblemThe Entity Framework requires time fields to be of time(7) data type, which must be entered as 24-hour time, with seconds (e.g. '09:30:00'). However, I want the time entered in 12-hour time and without seconds (e.g. '9:30 AM'). Is there a way I can configure the MaskedEditExtender and/or MaskedEditValidator to allow for this. What I was thinking is possibly using the AutoComplete portion of this control to fill in the remaining portions (i.e. seconds) that the user does not enter, but which the EF requires. I have text box to enter a phone number. I'm using AJAX MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator to validate the phone.I have no problem with mask but the problem nothing happen when I enter for example only 3 number then lose the focus but as soon the focus on I will see the error message and it will disappear as soon as I write one number.
all what I want to get the error message if the user did not enter 9 numbers after lose the focus.

I'm having a really strange issue with the MaskedEditExtnder. I've attached some markup for one of the textboxes. I'm using a MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator along with a CalendarExtender so the user has the option to type the date or click on an image and pick the date.
So, if I enter/pick a date then select a control that forces a postback (usually a dropdownlist but not always) when the page is returned the focus goes back to the textbox I just entered the date in. So what about the MaskedEdit, MaskedEditValidator, CalendarExtender would cause the page to return focus to the control being extended? See markup below - am I missing something??

For many of the Ajax ControlToolkit, a post back causes a lot of screw up with these controls. One example is the MaskedEditExtender. I have a webform that has various parts which depends on a RadioButtonList control option. Some part of webform maybe hidden or shown base on what option the user chose from the RadioButtonList control. The RadioButtonList control is set to autopostback. Let's say there is the txtDate textbox that regardless what option the user chose from the RadiobuttonList control, it will always shown on the webform. Let's say the user type in 2/5/2010 on the txtDate control but later on decides to pick a different option in the RadioButtonList control. After the autopostback from the RadioButtonList control, the txtDate that contained 2/5/2010 is now wiped out or cleared. So, my question is, how do I prevent this from happening?

When I press the button and the postback occurs the first textbox looses the value and shows the date mask.
What to do so this doesn't happen and the textbox doesn't loose the value.

When focus is set to the field, you get this: $ __,___.__ the cursor is to the left of the period and and you can enter any amount and if you type "period" it will move to the cents section. When tested, if you enter 55555 and tab out to another field everything is fine, but the field looks like this.. $ 55,555.__ now any posts that occur change this example to $ 50,000.00 does anyone know why and how i can fix this?

Below is the sample code on using the update panel. The page just has a button and a label. On button click it updates the label with the server time. Though the label is inside the update panel the page goes for a complete postback. in understanding why it is behaving like that. I tried the options of Updatemode, using different script references nothing seems working for this simple application.

I have a modalpopupextender and I want to be able to update the information without causing a postback and having to re-show the modal, normally I use an updatepanel and this is working in most cases but I have an issue with a repeater where the ItemCommand has been set but clicking the button does not fire anything, unless I set the repeater as a trigger but this then does postback and I lose where I am. Not the usability I want to provide.

I am having issue with my ModalPopUpExtender's OKControlID. I have a button inside an update panel that should do AsyncPostBack. The button works fine and runs server side code but it causes full page postback. How do I solve this issue? I want the 'OK' button inside the modalpopup to call the serverside code and update Label control 'label3' without causing the page flash. Given below is my code;

This is likely a n00b question, but I can't seem to find any info on how to solve it. Here's the scenario:
I have a Textbox and a RadioButtonList in an UpdatePanel, both with AutoPostBack turned on (they need to be, can't turn it off on the text box))
The user enters some text in to the textbox, then clicks one of the Items in the radio button list.
Because the textbox post back is executing, the radio button is losing the value that the user selected.
How can I workaround this?
I have a number of cascading dropdownlist controls on a page. The results in dropdownlist2 are dependent on the results in dropdownlist1, pretty basic stuff.
I now would like to eliminate the terrible postback or refresh of the page that occurs after the SelectedIndexChanged event fires on dropdownlist1, is it possible to do that in Ajax?
What I want the results in dropdownlist2 to populate without the obvious refresh of the page.
I have a kiosk application that uses master pages. There is a refresh meta-tag on the master page (or I can add it programmatically using Page.Header.Controls.add(metaTag), it makes no difference for my problem). When the user does not interact with the aplication it should return to the default page. But when the user does react using async postbacks only a partial postback is performed which does not reset the html meta refresh header, so it just keeps on ticking and after x seconds the page redirects to the default page. How can I avoid this from happening. The meta-tag can not be in the updatepanel so even though I can manipulate it from the code-behind when the async postback happens, any changes I make (for example sometimes when the user makes a mistake he should be redirected to a clean version of the page he is currently on after showing a modal message, so I have to change the url of the meta-tag content to no longer use the default page, but the current page) are not implemented.So the main question is, how can I manipulate (or reset in case of refresh meta tag) meta-tags in an async postback ?
View 2 RepliesIn my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?

I have a slideshow extender, I will change the slideshow extender's contextkey value by a button click event. So that after button click the slideshow will display different set of image. Originally with postback everything work fine, but I don't want the whole page to refresh.
So I put the slideshow extender inside an updatepanel with triggers target the button click event. Now the whole page didn't refresh and the slideshow extender's contextkey value did change (same code as before) after button click event. However the image set on the slideshow didn't change.
I think I am missing some sort of slideshow extender reload or refresh call but I am not sure how to do this? I didn't see any related property with slideshow extender...
I have an update panel with content that needs to be updated by a listview item which is a linkbutton, in .NET 3.5 I just used the defaults on all the controls and everything worked fine, after the upgrade to 4.0 the linkbutton causes a full postback with page refresh. I did try setting the linkbutton's id as the trigger for the update panel and still causes same page refresh. The scriptmanager is on the masterpage with enablepartialrendering = true.

This upload is working. But why the page is getting refreshed? this is not partial post back and instead it 's full post back. i have read the articles for the fileuplaod with issue inside the update panel. is there any way to achieve this asynchronous upload on button click?

I need to implement a "preview" functionality where people make changes to a form, click a button and a pop-up window displays the preview while the original form retains the user's changes in the various <textarea's. Right now, the preview is working, but when they come back to the form, their changes are gone, the page has refreshed. How do I prevent the page from refreshing? I need to go to the server to get the URL to the preview page.

I am using the MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator, but have experienced some strange
behaviour. (See code example below). When entering a date into the textbox this is what I see:
1. The mask
2. Entering the date and time e.g. "19-01-1980 10:11:12"
3. When removing focus from the textbox the result is: "19-01-1980 19:01:19"
The six first digits of the date is copied as the time? If entering a day of the month larger than 23 and any given month, year and time (eg. 25-10-1980 12:12:12) the validation fails as the six first digits are copied to the time resulting in a time 25:10:19 which obviously is not valid.
I have downloaded the AJAX toolkit sample code and experience the exact same behaviour. When running the AJAX Toolkit samples from[URL] works fine!
Additinal info: Culture is danish (DateTime format is dd-MM-yyyy hh:mm:ss). Tried changing my systems culture to en-US but same behaviour.
