AJAX :: Modifying JavaScript Files In The AjaxControlToolkit?
Jan 19, 2010
I have downloaded the source code for the latest version of the AjaxControlToolkit and have noticed that there are differences in the scripts included in the solution.
Previously, only one debug version of a JavaScript file was included for each control. This was then stripped of newlines and comments before building in release mode to embed these modified files in the output dll. However, now the solution has both the debug.js and .js versions (debug and compressed versions, respectively) included in the solution for each control.
My question is, if I desired to make changes to the debug versions of the JavaScript file for any control, does the compressed version of the file get generated automatically or is there some manual action I need to take to produce those files? It appears as though with this solution there are no integrated build tasks as in the previous versions so I feel like my latter suspicion may be correct but was hoping for input from somebody who knows more about this.
I do not like the idea of including overriden methods of toolkit funtions in my site's JavaScript, I am just curious how I would go about producing the release version of the script. In other words, how would the developers that work on the AjaxControlToolkit do this when working with the solution.\ | m ny;[6n n

I have more than one user control and those user controls have extenders of the ajaxcontroltoolkit. The problem is that each one has a javascript that writes "function PageLoad"... and as I have more than one user control in the same aspx, more than one of those javascript functions is written in the output. Is there anyway to combine all of them in just one function? (bear in mind that the javascript code is written within the user control and the user control doesn't know anything about what other control are in the container aspx). If I have more than one function PageLoad they will not work then, right?

I need a function to be performed on the page load, which uses a stored session variable. I have added the following to my <body> tag.
<body onload="doSomething(event,'<%= Session("StartTime") %>')>
This does work. However, it is causing a problem elsewhere, when I try to add a control to my controls collection:
dim myPanel= New Panel
...
Me.Controls.Add(myPanel)
giving the following error:
"The Controls collection cannot be
modified because the control contains
code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>). "
I've tried the suggestion of using <%#...%> instead of <%=...%>, but this prevents the session variable being found- it is just blank.

I'm using AjaxControlToolkit.HTMLEditor, and I want to add value to it using javascript or jquery like this:
alert( $find("eCompose_ctl02_ctl01")); // if
$find("eCompose_ctl02_ctl01").attr('value') = "asdfasdfasdf asdfasd asdf sf";
also tried like this:
document.getElementById('eCompose_ctl02_ctl01').value += "ababsakas asdasd l";
But the above code does not insert text into HTMLEditor.
EDIT.this is html code for HTMLEditor:
<HTMLEditor:Editor ID="eCompose" runat="server" Height="240px" Width="90%" AutoFocus="true" InitialCleanUp="true" />
i tried to access like this: alert(document.getElementById("<%= eCompose.ClientID %>")) and got null

I have a a dropdown on a page
<asp:DropDownList ID="drpName" AutoPostBack="true" AppendDataBoundItems="true" runat="server" ></asp:DropDownList>
and I on occasion want to add items to it using javascript/jquery.
When I select the items that have been added and it does a postback I get the following error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

I recently ran yslow on a page i have (master paged etc) and it returned that there were far too many javascript files included (most of which I haven't added).
I guess my question is that given i have v1.0.20229.0 of the toolkit.dll (over .net 2)
I'm wondering if subsequent releases have fixes for this sort of thing?

I realise that this is going to be a fairly niche requirement and will almost certainly raise a few "WTF's" but here goes...
Within an ASP.NET Webforms application I need to serve static content from a local client machine in order to reduce up-front bandwidth requirements as much as possible (Security policy has disabled all Browser caching). The idea is to serve CSS, images and JavaScript files from a location on the local file system referenced by filesystem links from within the Web application (Yes, I know, WTF's galore but that's how it is). The application itself will effectively be an Intranet app that's hosted externally from a client but restricted by IP range along with standard username/password security. So it's pretty much a hybrid Internet/Intranet application but we can easily roll out packages of files to client machines. I am not suggesting that we expect nor require public clients to download packages of files. We have control to an extent over the client machines in terms of the local filesystem and so on but we cannot change the caching policy.
We're using UpdatePanel controls to perform partial page updates which obviously means that we need to Microsoft AJAX JavaScript files. Presently these are being served (as standard) by a standard resource handler within IIS/ASP.NET. Ideally I would like to be able to take these JS files and reference them statically from a client machine, and no longer serve them via an AXD.
My questions are:Is this possible?If it is possible, how do we go about doing so?
In order to attempt to pre-empt some WTF's the requirement stems from attempting to service a requirement with as little time and effort as possible whilst a more suitable solution is developed. I'm aware that we can lighten the load, we can switch to jQuery AJAX updates, we can rewrite the front-end in MVC etc. but my question is related to what we can quickly deploy with our existing application architecture.

I am using a combobox.
I'm retrieving the data from database to fill the combobox. The name of the combobox is kategorilist. I want to set a string value to datavaluefield of the combobox. Also I'm using datalist with paging in this page. Datalist is binding with the selected value of the combox everytime.
Like this;
li.Value = "urunlist.aspx?ktid=" + dr["KategoriID"] + "&Sinif=" + sinifsa.ToString();
But it doesn't work. It worked with html <select> tag but ajax combobox doesn't accept this value.
Here is my code:
private void KategoriAdlariniGetir(int sinifsa)
{
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(cnnstr);

Moved our web application from W2003 & IIS6 to W2008 R2 & IIS7.5 . One of the first things we discovered was to set the Application Pool in "Classic" mode. However we are still not out of the woods. We are having a AjaxControlToolKit error. I have attached a screenshot but in summary, the first line of code referring to the AjaxControlToolKit is flagged in error, Type.registerNamespace('AjaxControlToolkit'); The Debugger throws the error text below: 'Type' is undefined Default.aspx?

I see that I have version 3.0.20229.0 of ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll on a server and on my local machine I have version 3.0.0.20820.0 of ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll in a AjaxControlToolkit-Framework3.5SP1 directory. So does 3.0.20229.0 correspond to 3.5 pre sp1?
I found the following at http://www.ajaxcontroltoolkit.com/Default.aspx:
This release includes over 10 patch fixes provided by members of the Toolkit community. We would like to specially thank all the patch contributors for their effort which helped make this release possible. We recognize their names on the
Toolkit Patch Hall of Fame.
Setting up the environment to use the Toolkit: This Toolkit release targets two different versions of the .NET Framework:
Version 3.5.20229 for .NET Framework 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008:
Download the AjaxControlToolkit-Framework3.5.zip or AjaxControlToolkit-Framework3.5-NoSource.zip.
Version 1.0.20229 for ASP.NET AJAX version 1.0 and .NET Framework 2.0:
Download the AjaxControlToolkit.zip or AjaxControlToolkit-NoSource.zip.
Note: Toolkit version 3.5.20229 is only for users who are building on top of .NET Framework 3.5 using Visual Studio 2008. If you are using .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 then you should use
Toolkit version 1.0.20229.
It sounds like the Toolkit version does NOT correspond to the version of ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll.
