AJAX :: Modifying JavaScript Files In The AjaxControlToolkit?

Jan 19, 2010

I have downloaded the source code for the latest version of the AjaxControlToolkit and have noticed that there are differences in the scripts included in the solution.

Previously, only one debug version of a JavaScript file was included for each control. This was then stripped of newlines and comments before building in release mode to embed these modified files in the output dll. However, now the solution has both the debug.js and .js versions (debug and compressed versions, respectively) included in the solution for each control.

My question is, if I desired to make changes to the debug versions of the JavaScript file for any control, does the compressed version of the file get generated automatically or is there some manual action I need to take to produce those files? It appears as though with this solution there are no integrated build tasks as in the previous versions so I feel like my latter suspicion may be correct but was hoping for input from somebody who knows more about this.

I do not like the idea of including overriden methods of toolkit funtions in my site's JavaScript, I am just curious how I would go about producing the release version of the script. In other words, how would the developers that work on the AjaxControlToolkit do this when working with the solution.\ | m ny;[6n n

Upload Dilemma For New Records With GUID As Image Name

Jan 18, 2011

For my CMS I want users to be able to upload pictures which connect to a product. This all goes well until someone wants to upload a picture when creating a new record.

The problem here is that every product has a GUID (next to the ProductID (PK)) and will be created when the product is saved for the first time. I'm uploading my images trough a webservice with Uploadify jquery plugin so it's all in an ajax based way. The image uploader however needs to know the GUID to store it in the right directory.

My temporary fix was to just let the user save the product before uploading so the GUID is known but it's not very user friendly and I'm sure there would be a better way but I cannot find a satisfying one myself.

This is the only option which I could come up with which is kinda ok but maybe I'm missing something completely:

Create a GUID without saving the product, so the image can be uploaded and the product with the GUID can be saved afterwards. But what if the user navigates away after uploading? I could maybe create a scheduled task to delete those orphant images

Has anyone dealt with similar scenarios? I'm very interested in your opions about his matter since this functionality will be used in multiple sections in my CMS.

Web Forms :: Prevent User From Adding Duplicate Records For Same Date?

Mar 25, 2013

In my website their is a module in which I m retrieving the data from the student master table..

In my gridview their are 5 columns (Student Id,Student name,Roll no,and a checkbox column,Date Textbox column which is empty) in which the data is retrieved from student master table....

I m adding the date in the textbox which is out of the gridview and when i check the checkbox for each student the data is stored in another table in database with a status as present for the checked students and absent for the unchecked students...

What i want is dat when i check the student and i select the date for the student and the data is entered in new table after all this i wld not be allowed to make the attendance for the same student for the same date bt i wld be allowed to mark attendance for the same student for another date..

for example i check the checkbox for the student "Rohit" and entered the date 1/1/13 and rohit is stored with status present in the another table for date 1/1/13 and now he shld be disabled so dat i wld not be able to mark his attendance for the date 1/1/13 and prevent the duplication...Bt after dat i would be allowed  to mark "Rohit's" attendance for the date 2/1/13...

means he should be disabled for the single date...

Architecture :: How To Automatically Load Records To A Db From Files FTP'd To App_Data

Jan 28, 2011

The sequence of events is as follows:

1. A piece of software running locally on my pc periodically uploads (approximately every three minutes) to my webserver an xml file comprised of six fields. The file size is < 1K.
1a. The file name is always the same. ie. filename.xml is uploaded. Three minutes later, filename.xml is uploaded again, this time with different contents. I have no control over renaming this file.

2. A chunk of code that parses the xml and inserts the six fields into a database

3. Deletes the xml file

4. Waits for the next xml file to appear in the folder

5. Goto 2.

The locally running software uploads the file without issue. So far, I'm able to parse the xml, do the database insert and delete the file manually by refreshing the browser window and subsequently running the code in the .cshtml file. What I'm having a hard time conceptualizing is what the best way is to set up an automated event/method that watches the folder and when a new file appears, write it to the db without user intervention. Also, where would I put this code? _AppStart? Do I need to start a FileSystemWatcher event on the server somehow? I'm kinda stumped as to how best to proceed.
