At last I got sumthing by which I can refreshed the Cascading Dropdown value by changing the Tab.
But the problem is first tab is working fine but in second tab the values are refreshed but second child dropdown is not disable(First tab all are working fine) .
So I have a two dropdownlists which use a cascadingdropdown extender. The dropdownlists get their values from an XML file I created. Everything has been working fine, but when I tried to add a few new values to the XML file, they won't show up on the page. They show fine in the test environment when I debug the page in Visual Web Developer, but the pages don't seem to be updating. Everything else seems to be working fine; I've since made changes to other elements of my application and the changes went through fine. What could be the caus eof this? I tried copying all the information from the old XML file and creating a new one, creating a new XMLDataSource and using that as the new data source for the dropdownlists. Nothing seems to be working. What could I be doing wrong here?
I am new to Ajax Control Toolkit, with the help of online tutorials I had created a cascading dropdown list in asp.net and tested it on my local machine. For this dropdown list data source would be an xml file (which is saved on my local machine c drive). I haven't encountered any issues until I deploy the precompiled web site on to IIS 7. When I open the web site from IIS I would see the two dropdown boxes on the web page with an error "Method error 500". I believe this error occured due to incorrect xml file path provided on IIS. I had copied xml and xsd files into IIS server C drive but it did not help out and then I created a network map and placed the xml and xsd files in that shared folder tried to access that path from web service, it's working on local machine but not on IIS. It would be great, if any one could explain me the solution.
I have a dropDownList on a page that I need to refresh with new database entries whenever new content is added to my DB.Basically, I have a list of usernames in one dropdown, and when I add a new username to the database I want this to be reflected in the dropdown without refreshing the whole page i.e. on the fly.I have used update panel but partial postback is occuring but i want page should not refreshing at allI hope someone can help, I have looked around and not found any solutions.
VS 2008Update PanelIn the update panel, is a gridview, and an asp:panel that contains some other controls, including the button I want to trigger the update of the gridviewThe gridview is tied to a sqldatasource, although I have tried multiple methods to get the data and all failed
Here is the problem:
User logs in and fills out the top part of the form. That submits some data to a table, returns the ID of the row submitted and makes an asp:panel visible (panel.visible=true). This update panel exists inside of the UpdatePanel. The user clicks a drop down list and selects a name. When this happens, another panel becomes visible, using the same process, to allow the user to enter data about the name they selected. So far, everything works.
What Should Happen next:
User clicks "Add" buttonDatabase is updated with the data enteredDatasource refreshesGridview refreshes - It is not visible at load because there are no records for it to show.
What Actually Happens:
User clicks "Add" button Database is updated with the data entered - This has been verified Datasource should update, but not sure it is Gridview does not show.
I am very new to ASP, .NET and MVC but am reasonable with HTML, Javascript and CSS. I was hoping someone could answer a question about how to change a page without refreshing the actual page.
The dashboard div contains a lot of information that will be present on each page, so when the user navigates to another page, I only want the MainContent to change. I suppose this could be done by using an iframe, but I'd rather not go that path.
How would I go about this? Are there any tutorials that cover this? What functions/terms should I be looking for regarding this?
Edit: I don't know if it is relevant, but I thought I'd better state that I am trying to do this using MVC, and I want to get the content of the MainContent div handled by the appropriate controller of the 'page' contained within that div.
The update panel in the shrepoint master page is updating only once. I have a simple ascx control with lable and button in the update panel. when the button is clicked the label text dispalys random number. but this is only working once. the second time when i click nothing is happening.
All i have issue we are implementing a web control . in this web control we have use multiple UI controls just like textbox, dropdown, etc... Allmost this page have more than 100 controls, these are dynamically created. But When this page is render on ie7 . this page is not load and refresh again and again.
I have an UpdatePanel with some controls, and a tree control outside of the UpdatePanel. The tree control is huge (~4 MB) hence I don't want to refresh the tree on postbacks from within the UpdatePanel.
Main settings:
[Code]....
Everything is working great, except during one of the PostBack from within the UpdatePanel, I want to refresh the tree. This just does not seem to be possible.
I tried cascading dropdown in asp.net using ajax. I have tried with 3 dropdown control. The scenario is First dropdown is loaded when page gets loaded and the second dropdown is loaded based on first is selected and thrid dropdown is loaded based on second one selected, now I want to know how do I load third dropdown based on first and second selected value...
I have been reading a lot about UpdateMode set to Conditional on multiple UpdatePanels on a page. It seems that when set to Conditional only the UpdatePanel affected by the event will refresh. It is not happening on my case and I don't know what am I doing wrong.
This is the scenario. I have 4 updatePanel all set to Conditional. I have external buttons that will call the Update method per each panel but the whole page refreshes when I click on any of the buttons.
I have an Infragistics ultrawebgrid inside an asp:UpdatePanel control. The issue is each time the page is refreshed, the grid becomes invisible. But,the data is bound to the grid during postback also.
I am having this update panel page refresh problem with Firefox 3.6, not sure if anybody else has seen it.
It happens to me on pages with multiple ASP update panels. For example, I have two dropdownlists nested inside one of the update panels, and those dropdownlists do allow AutoPostback. For whatever reasons, it triggers other update panels to refresh even though it shouldn't. It only happened in Firefox 3.6, I haven't seen it in Firefox 3.5.x or Chrome or even IE 8.
I have a problem when the databound gridview is not getting refreshed by the trigger that set to the dropdown outside the update panel. Both controls on ascx control that resides on the tabpanel within aspx page. I realise that both need to be in the same contianer, but because it's an ascx, I can't use Content (but it's used on the aspx main page. How to trigger the refresh of the grid? Here's the simplified code:
I have an ajax accordion with 3 panes. In the first pane I have tree. When I click an item in the second pane, I want the first pane to stay where it was before I clicked the item. Is there a way to keep maintain the content in all panes that are not in use? This seems to work without any additional code. I had something else incorrect that was preventing from working.
I've a tab container with 4-5 tabs on a page. On the same page, I've three update panels - one outside tab container whilst the other two lie inside two tab panels separately. Update mode of all three update panels are set to Conditional. There is a timer in the first update panel (the one outside tab container). Whenever timer ticks, the other two update panels are also being refreshed. How can I stop this?
I have a scenario in which the user can add a new option to appear in the list of available choices in a DDL contained in a detailsview when they select an option <Add New>. This displays an AJAX model popup which then allows the user to enter the new option text. Then they hit an Insert button which inserts that new option into the DDL's datasource and I call ddl.DataBind. Subsequently I want to close the modal popup and then display the newly created DDL option as selected.
When I step through the code, everything appears to be working as expected...i.e. the DDL's datasource now has 1 more record than before and the ddl.SelectedValue is the newly created record for its datasource. I can also query ddl.items(99) and see the new option is part of the ddl's items collection and the new record is Selected.
HOWEVER, once the screen comes back from the debugger, the DDL is now showing the newly created option, but still the prior selected option of "<Add New>". And if you pull the DDL down the newly created option is not in the list?
I cannot figure out how that happens...though I suspect it has something to do with the AJAX/Update panel. Here's some code:
In one of my webpage, I have a parent window where i have a datalist with 10 rows of images. when i click any image a pop up window(child window) opens.
The child window has a form to be filled by user. Once user fills this form, he will press the save button. Once the save button is clicked, the child window should be closed and the datalist(in the update panel) in the parent window should be refreshed.
This is how I am trying to achieve this. On click of the save button a javascript function is being called of the parent window like this: window.opener.refreshDataList();
in the refreshDataList() function I have written the following code:
This works like a charm in Internet Explorer. However in Mozilla and Chrome it doesnt work. While testing this I added an alert statement ind the refreshDataList() function like this..
I'm using and accordion Ajax control, and when one tab is clicked on, I want the iframe inside it to automatically refresh. I'm not sure how to do this.
I have a Button and, modelpopupExtender on my Masterpage, I want to call that whenever required. But the problem is when I call the ModalPopupExtender.Show(); Masterpage is getting refreshed again. I need to avoid that refreshing the MasterPage when calling the ModalPopupExtender.Show();
I've got a TextBox with AutoPostBack="true" and OnTextChanged property set.
The textbox is located inside a Repeater, which in turn is located inside an UpdatePanel.
Problem is - whenever the TextBox postsback, the whole page gets reloaded, instead of the UpdatePanel only.
Here's how the thing looks:
[Code]....
Interesting thing is, if I take the TextBox out of the repeater, it refreshes only the UpdatePanel. So is if I put a Button inside the repeater - only the UpdatePanel gets refreshed. But whenver I place an AutoPostBack-ing control inside the Repeater, the whole page gets refreshed.
I have used master pages inside application and menu is placed on master oage.On click of that menu content pages are called,i want to update only content page But the whole page is being refreshed.I have also used the Update panels on content.
