I have used master pages inside application and menu is placed on master oage.On click of that menu content pages are called,i want to update only content page But the whole page is being refreshed.I have also used the Update panels on content.

I have an updatepanel on my master page that just updates the database every 30 seconds, what is happening is that everytime it is fired, it will refresh everything on the page_load of the content page that are not under ispostback = false. to disable such a thing just for this specific updatepanel?

I have a webpage which updates user information onto to the database, whenever they click the save buttonsince am using session variables in my page, data in the session variables is getting lost after 20mins if the session is idle, in order to keep the session alive am using the refresh option for every 5mins, after that the session variables are not lostNow my problem is whenever the page refreshes the user is losing all the data which is not saved, by means while the user is working on the page during the refresh all the textbox values are lostAny one has any solution for this? , can we extend the session variable timeout ?i tried this changed the session timeout to 60min in web.config as well, but still the session variable values are not persisting
View 5 RepliesI am having an issue with content page refresh, when I change something in master page. My scenario is, I have a login button present in master page, on click of which am loading a modal popup with login controls. Once the credentials are valid, i am hiding the modal popup and stroing the user authentication result in a Session object. In content page's page load event, I am checking for this session object, for showing/hiding some of the controls based on the user logged in.The problem is, after login, the content page is not getting reloaded and proper controls are not shown to the user. To make the content page refresh programmatically, i added an UpdatePanel in content page and refreshed it after login button click event in master page. But still content page is not getting refreshed.

I am a beginner to web development and ASP.NET. I am creating a web application (not public, so SEO, bookmarking etc. is of no concern) with the typical layout of header on top, Navigation on the left, content on the right. I want the content to update without the whole page reloading when selecting something on the navigation bar. What is the typical way to implement this? MasterPage with ContentPages and using an UpdatePanel (tried this, but does not seem to work, I guess because the URL is different for each content page)? Using Frames? It is supposed to update the database with the user input, then update the panel changing the validation. (I change the textbox border to red when it is empty). However, none of the panels are working. I have ever retyped the entire pages, and no luck. I have tried using trigger collections, and even putting everything in one content collection. GOAL: on a web page (vb.net) content in a placeholder will refresh with a different .ascx (user control) every 30 seconds (rotating 3 in total) and of course i dont want to refresh the whole page, just the placeholder.
I'm new at AJAX (that's my first problem - lol)
I set the timer up to call a function, but not sure how to go about refreshing the placeholder with a different ascx file. I'm sure i'll be using UpdatePanel to do this, but haven't been able to figure this out. Easy to replace a value in a label using AsyncPostBack trigger, but nothing on how to achieve this.
How to prevent the content of the UpdatePanel from the PostBack which is occurred in the whole page ?

I'm using this Ajax script [URL] to load content from an aspx page on another server than the page calling the content. So far I've learned that this is a no go. The problem seems to be that when using an absolute link to content the script fails as apposed to using a relative link.

I have a requirement where a user logs on to a server where exists a website. The user bring up the site on a browser on that server and loads a power point presentation slide. At that time, users using their laptop clicks on the link to that site and sees that particular PPT slide loaded on the server. Then the operator/user on the server clicks on the second slide and the laptop would now see the second slide. Is this possible to do? If yes, then what technology to use? DHTML? or something else.

I am very new to ASP, .NET and MVC but am reasonable with HTML, Javascript and CSS. I was hoping someone could answer a question about how to change a page without refreshing the actual page.

The dashboard div contains a lot of information that will be present on each page, so when the user navigates to another page, I only want the MainContent to change. I suppose this could be done by using an iframe, but I'd rather not go that path.
How would I go about this? Are there any tutorials that cover this? What functions/terms should I be looking for regarding this?
Edit: I don't know if it is relevant, but I thought I'd better state that I am trying to do this using MVC, and I want to get the content of the MainContent div handled by the appropriate controller of the 'page' contained within that div.

This code was working in framework 3.5
all the pages in framework 4 that i've been using updatepanel it keeps on refreshing the page.
But works fine in framework 3.5 (VS 2008).

All i have issue we are implementing a web control . in this web control we have use multiple UI controls just like textbox,dropdown, etc... Allmost this page have more than 100 controls, these are dynamically created.But When this page is render on ie7 . this page is not load and refresh again and again.

I have been reading a lot about UpdateMode set to Conditional on multiple UpdatePanels on a page. It seems that when set to Conditional only the UpdatePanel affected by the event will refresh. It is not happening on my case and I don't know what am I doing wrong.
This is the scenario. I have 4 updatePanel all set to Conditional. I have external buttons that will call the Update method per each panel but the whole page refreshes when I click on any of the buttons.

The textbox is located inside a Repeater, which in turn is located inside an UpdatePanel.
Problem is - whenever the TextBox postsback, the whole page gets reloaded, instead of the UpdatePanel only.

Interesting thing is, if I take the TextBox out of the repeater, it refreshes only the UpdatePanel. So is if I put a Button inside the repeater - only the UpdatePanel gets refreshed. But whenver I place an AutoPostBack-ing control inside the Repeater, the whole page gets refreshed.

I am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.
