AJAX :: Reruired Validation Control Not Visible In Tab Panel
Feb 22, 2010
I have added a Ajax tab control into my page and first tab includes the data entry part to a table and second tab is update the data in a table (Database).
The problem is in first time when I click submit button without filling any details it shows the error messages (I set required fied validators) but next time it didn't show the error message but it not submit the page. So I understood that the validation controls are worked but it doesn't show the error message. Is there any solution?

I have a web page that I have a media control player on along with other controls in a table.It's a training video, so the controls are not visible.So the user can advance to the next web page,I thought I would have a button control inside an update panel with a time control so that the user had to watch the video and then the button control would appear after the video completed.I'm setting the button update panel to NOT visible and then turning it one when the time control elapses the same amount of time that the video runs.My problem is that when I set the visible property of the update panel to NOT visible it also makes the media player's panel NOT visible too.They are in two different panels.The medial player in a standard panel and the timer control connected witha separate panel that contains the button for the user to proceed. When I set the visible property to "true" the media player runs but the update panel with the button is visible also.
[Code]....
This is the code for the update panel and continue button that is in a separate table cell.I even split the table and so this is in a completely separate table but I still get the same behavior.

I have a tab container with two tabs. In one of the tab panels, I have a button. I want by pressing the button to make a label in master page visible:
[Code]....
The event fires, the event handler is executed, but the lable doesn't become visible. If I place the button outside of the tab container, it works.

I have an update panel which has 2 set of controls each in their own separate panels. We can select either panel by a checkbox list and they become visible. Now I am trying to set a value by javascript in the panel that becomes visible on my checkbox click but the problem is that I cant access the controls through javascript as they are not rendered on page as visibility is false.
I cant find the controls inside the page source even though they are visible on page so javascript cannot access them. Is there any way other than doing a postback and setting them visible to access them via javascript?

I have a GridView control inside one Update Panel and a detail section inside another Update Panel. Initially, the detail section is hidden and when a GridView row is selected, the Detail panel becomes visible. Everything works fine except that if the GridView contains more rows and covers most of the user's screen, screen doesn't shits to the start of Detail section.I can use anchor but was just wondering if there is any other way of achieving this. Also the Detail section has multiple nested Update Panels and if I use anchor, then any of the child Update Panel's update will move the screen to the beginning of the detail Section.

I have an asyncfileupload control within a panel control. The panel is initially set to visible=false on page load. After a user clicks a button to display the panel contents however, I set the panel to visible and the user can then use the asyncfileupload. The problem however, is it seems much of the javascript associated with the asyncfileupload, does not function properly when the panel containing the upload control is set from invisible to visible. If I set my panel's "visible" property to "true" initially, then it works fine. My javascript error message is as follows:
"Form contains a file input, but is missing method=POST and enctype=multipart/form-data on the form. The file will not be sent."
Basically within my asyncfileupload control, I have the following line:
[Code]....
In this scenario, my "args" variable is always null (when I set my pane's "visible" property to "true" on page load, the args variable DOES contain data. Any idea why switching a panel from visible=false to visible=true, would cause an error like this?

I have the following markup. The errorPanel was first only used to show server side exception messages, and works fine like that. Now I'd like to incorporate my validation summary into that same errorPanel.
[code]....
My problem now is that the required validation happens client side, and I want to keep that, so I have no server side opportunity to make errorPanel visible, in order to make the validation summary visible.
I see I have two options: Do validation server side, and use my code there to make the panel visible, or hook into the client side code somehow and catch an event there when the summary should be made visible, and then also make the errorPanel visible. How could I go about the latter?

I am using two update panels in a page. Both of them are conditional mode and display when a checkbox is selected. So far it is good. I have few textboxes in the the second panel and I want validations to be set on those text boxes on a condtion, ie if textbox 1 is not empty then textbox 2 's required field validatior should trigger and viceversa. I have written the following logic in the pageload method,

I have a page with three update areas, Create, Edit, and Delete. The controls that do these three functions are inside separate update panels so when I'm doing Create, I only fill controls inside that updatepanel. Problem is I'm using asp validation controls on all the controls in the three areas. Therefore, when I press the "Go" button in the Create UpdatePanel, the validation fails on the empty controls in the other two area. I hope I'm explaining this well. The behavior I would like to see is that only the controls contained in the updating panel would be validate.

I'm using the ASP.Net Validation controls and I want to display the Validation Summary in a JQuery Dialog instead of the native javascript alert messagebox. I've found this solution (aspsnippets) by overriding the clientside WebForm_OnSubmit() function:
<script type="text/javascript">
function WebForm_OnSubmit() {
if (typeof (ValidatorOnSubmit) == "function" && ValidatorOnSubmit() == false) {
$("#validation_dialog").dialog({
title: "Validation Error!",
modal: true,
resizable: false,
[Code] ....
The WebForm_OnSubmit() function is being rendered by the BaseValidator control and in the form tag te following attribute is being added: onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit();
I am running into a problem on a page which has an UpdatePanel. The input field with the validator (1 to make it simple) is in a Panel within an UpdatePanel. The Panel is set to Visible=False at the first Page Load. There's a button inside the UpdatePanel which makes the Panel with the Validator Visible.
When this happens, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag are not being rendered because it's an AJAX callback and the form tag is outside the updatepanel (in a master page), so the validation summary will not be shown in the jquery dialog.
Validation is being performed, so the validation summary wil be shown in a div on a page, but the validation is not being called by the WebForm_OnSubmit() function in this case, because it's not being rendered.
Here's the markup of the page:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:Button ID="btnNew" runat="server" Text="New" />
<asp:Panel ID="pnlEdit" runat="server">
<table>
[Code] ....
So, when the validators are not visible at the first load and they will be made visible by an AJAX callback, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag are not being rendered on the pag. Because of that, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function will not be called and the validation summary will not be shown in the JQuery dialog (although it is being shown in a div on the page). How can I get the Validation Summary to be shown in de JQuery dialog in this case?
Is there another function that has to be overriden for this case? I know I can use a Full Postback for the New button and then all the stuff needed is being rendered on the page, or I can make the panel not visible by using a style, but I don't prefer that because there are a lot of pages with this situation.
One solution is to use a dummy textbox with a dummy validator (with a dummy validationgroup) of which I set the display to none. Then this dummy validator will cause the the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag to be rendered.

I am embedding a popup extender inside a tab...simple enough - for some reason the content is visible when the page loads - it can be dismissed by selecting the button and then dismissing the popup. Everything works in compatability mode.
I can't tag the panel as visible=false as it is no longer rendered at all.
