Shouldn't A "sub" Panel Be Hidden If It's In A Panel That Isn't Visible

Jul 23, 2010

I have two panels on a page. Panel A, and then within Panel A is Panel B. If Panel A's visibility is False, shouldn't Panel B's visibility automatically be false because it's within Panel A?

AJAX :: Update Panel To NOT Visible,makes The Media Player's Panel NOT Visible?

Sep 29, 2010

I have a web page that I have a media control player on along with other controls in a table.It's a training video, so the controls are not visible.So the user can advance to the next web page,I thought I would have a button control inside an update panel with a time control so that the user had to watch the video and then the button control would appear after the video completed.I'm setting the button update panel to NOT visible and then turning it one when the time control elapses the same amount of time that the video runs.My problem is that when I set the visible property of the update panel to NOT visible it also makes the media player's panel NOT visible too.They are in two different panels.The medial player in a standard panel and the timer control connected witha separate panel that contains the button for the user to proceed. When I set the visible property to "true" the media player runs but the update panel with the button is visible also.

[Code]....

This is the code for the update panel and continue button that is in a separate table cell.I even split the table and so this is in a completely separate table but I still get the same behavior.

AJAX :: Why Panel Cannot Be Hidden When Postback

Jan 18, 2010

I have an update panel and inside it has a panel with a contact form. Above update panel is an update progress bar, with an ajax loading icon.

What I wanna do is, when contact form is submitted, the panel is hidden, and the loading icon is shown.

I did it by having this in btn_onclick:

System.Threading.Thread.Sleep //not sure if correct spelling but anyway
pnl.Visible = false;

Somehow, the icon shows out but the panel still visible down there. Is there something I am missing?

Javascript - Updatepanel Inside Hidden Panel Possible Bug

May 27, 2010

The javascript generated by the asp.net SciptManager control seems to have a bug and cant handle hidden UpdatePanels. A javascript error is thrown when a control within one updated panel tries to make another update panel visible. Is this a bug with ASP.Net ajax? And does anyone have any ideas how to get around this? heres is an example of what im trying to do

<script type="text/C#" runat="server">
protected void LinkButton1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Panel1.Visible = true;
}
</script>
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">
</asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" OnClick="LinkButton1_Click" Text="Show Panel"></asp:LinkButton>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" Visible="false">
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
</asp:Panel>

this is the javascript error that gets thrown when clicking on the "LinkButton1" link. This error comes from the javascript that is generated by the asp.net ScriptManager control

Error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Could not find UpdatePanel with ID 'ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_UpdatePanel2'

Hidden Field In Update Panel Doesn't Get Updated

<input type="hidden" runat="server" id="hidTripIds" value="" />

<asp:UpdateProgress ID="uprogTrips" runat="server">
<ProgressTemplate>

<br />
Processing...</p>
</span>
</ProgressTemplate>
</asp:UpdateProgress>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="upTripsGrid" runat="server" UpdateMode="Always">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="gvAllTrips" runat="server" OnRowDataBound="gvAllTrips_RowDataBound"
OnPageIndexChanging="gvAllTrips_PageIndexChanging" AllowPaging="true" AutoGenerateColumns="false">

<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="ddFilterBy" EventName="SelectedIndexChanged" />
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="cbPageOptions" EventName="CheckedChanged" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

and below is the code where I am trying to update one of the hidden field with my CS code. Interesting, when I am trying to debug its showing all the values, however when I see it f on page source it doesn't give any value. Here is my aspx.cs code:

protected void Timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataTable dtTrips = null;
WEX.Prototype.Data.TripDA tripDA = new WEX.Prototype.Data.TripDA();
string tID = hidTripIds.Value;
string[] tripIDs = new string[1000];
tripIDs = tID.Split(',');
foreach (string tripID in tripIDs)
{
TripSummaryBO tripSummaryBO = tripDA.getTripSummary(Convert.ToInt32(tripID));
if (tripSummaryBO.tripLastEditedOnDate > Convert.ToDateTime(hidCurrentDate.Value))
{
WEX.Prototype.Service.WSProxies WSProxies = new WEX.Prototype.Service.WSProxies();
dtTrips = WSProxies.Build();
Session["AllTrips"] = dtTrips;
dtTrips = (DataTable)Session["AllTrips"];
if (dtTrips != null)
{
if (cnt==0)
{
hidTripDetails.Value = ("Trip name-" + tripSummaryBO.tripName + " was modified by user " + tripSummaryBO.tripLastEditedBy);
}
else
{
hidTripDetails.Value = hidTripDetails.Value + " <br/> " + ("Trip name-" + tripSummaryBO.tripName + " was modified by user " + tripSummaryBO.tripLastEditedBy);
}
BuildGridViewControl(dtTrips);
cnt = cnt + 1;
}
}
else
{
//upTripsGrid.Triggers.Clear();
PageInit();
}
}
}

Web Forms :: Panel Set To Visible Is Suddenly Not Working When It Did Before And No Code Changes?

Jan 20, 2011

We have an asp.panel that by default is set to visible=false. When a checkbox is clicked the panel is set to visible=true. The checkbox is set to autopostback and viewstate=true as well as the panel's viewstate =true. This code has worked perfectly for several years and suddenly it has started throwing an error on the built in .net java function below. It doesn't do it in the IDE when you run it either. The bold line is where the exception is being thrown.

function

ValidatorCommonOnSubmit() {
var result = !Page_BlockSubmit;
Page_BlockSubmit = false;

AJAX :: Hidden Fields In Gridview Inside An Update Panel Not Refreshed?

Jun 22, 2010

I have a user control which has a gridview with hidden fields in some of the template columns. The grid columns are created and bound by code dynamically in each postback and not in design mode. The gridview is placed in an update panel. In my aspx page where i use the user control , there is a dropdown which fires postback and based on the selected value of the dropdown the grid data gets filtered. The dropdown in aspx is not part of any update panel.

After the postback of dropdown, the grid data gets filtered and the grid is rebound with fresh values. The values in the controls like label, button or link button are bound correctly. But the values in the hidden fields are not refreshed and always points to the values of the rows that was generated before the postback of the page (initial page load).

AJAX :: Setting Value Of Textbox Inside Panel Which Is Set To Visible False

Mar 9, 2010

I have an update panel which has 2 set of controls each in their own separate panels. We can select either panel by a checkbox list and they become visible. Now I am trying to set a value by javascript in the panel that becomes visible on my checkbox click but the problem is that I cant access the controls through javascript as they are not rendered on page as visibility is false.

I cant find the controls inside the page source even though they are visible on page so javascript cannot access them. Is there any way other than doing a postback and setting them visible to access them via javascript?

Everything works fine except that if the GridView contains more rows and covers most of the user's screen, screen doesn't shits to the start of Detail section.I can use anchor but was just wondering if there is any other way of achieving this. Also the Detail section has multiple nested Update Panels and if I use anchor, then any of the child Update Panel's update will move the screen to the beginning of the detail Section.

AJAX :: AsyncFileUpload Javascript Doesn't Work Within Visible / Invisible Panel

Aug 18, 2010

I have an asyncfileupload control within a panel control. The panel is initially set to visible=false on page load. After a user clicks a button to display the panel contents however, I set the panel to visible and the user can then use the asyncfileupload. The problem however, is it seems much of the javascript associated with the asyncfileupload, does not function properly when the panel containing the upload control is set from invisible to visible. If I set my panel's "visible" property to "true" initially, then it works fine. My javascript error message is as follows:

"Form contains a file input, but is missing method=POST and enctype=multipart/form-data on the form. The file will not be sent."

Basically within my asyncfileupload control, I have the following line:

[Code]....

In this scenario, my "args" variable is always null (when I set my pane's "visible" property to "true" on page load, the args variable DOES contain data. Any idea why switching a panel from visible=false to visible=true, would cause an error like this?
