i have 4 dropdownlist..state,district,place,product..where we have to select the product depend on state ,district ,place and product and there is search button for search particular product where iam using gridview to dipslay particular product deatails. i do not want to do auto past back eventfor page when i select dropdownlist...i tried using ajax but still i cant get through..i tried this code. how to use ajax for 4 dropdownlist & 1 button so that i can dispaly product deatails.

I have a Cascading drop down list that is working fine to load the correct lists however I would like to have the last one initiate a query and display a datagrid on the same page containing the results of the query. Without Ajax involved this seems rather easy by using autopostback on the drop downs. If I could do it through Ajax that would be great but I can settle with having the page to reload to display the data. Right now I'm not sure how to do either. I enabled autopostback on the last drop down and wrote a method for it but I get an error at runtime saying:
Invalid postback or callback argument

I am using the cascading dropdownlist controls from the Ajax toolkit. I have everything working perfectly and all of my select changes work. I have 3 related select boxes that all work great for single item select. What I need is for my last dropdownlist to allow for the selection of multiple items. I have tried adding the 'multiple' attribute to the final dropdown list and it allows the selection of multiple items but I cannot get the items when I post back, just a single item.

i use cascading dropdown lists (in a user registration form) and when the user hits the submit button i get the error: "Invalid postback or callback argument" I've seen on the net that this is a problem dating back many years but still haven't found a solution to this. I've read about changing EnableEventValidation to false, but this poses a security risk.

I have an AsyncFileUpload with an image control to show a preview of the pic that is uploaded. Everything works fine, however on the postback from the asynchFileUpload the page jumps to the top of the page and then after a second or two it goes down to the proper scroll position. What can I do to avoid having the page jump to the top and then back down again on the postback ?

I am using ModalPopupExtender of Ajax Control Toolkit(v2.0.50727) as shown in the following way.

I have a Username and Password field on webform and a Submit button.Username ia validated through database on button click.Each time when i click on submit button and if Username already exist then my password gets to be removed due to postback.Please give me some solution so that when i just defocus my username field it will automatically check and display message if it exists.Please donot give Textbox ontextchanged event with update panel in conditional update mode because it will not work for me because i am using devexpress tools on my webforms.

I want to stop postback if a certain value from a ddl is selected.
I've used VB to create a page whereby if a certain value from a ddl is selected then a hidden panel becomes visible. The problem is the likely answer to a majority of my ddl's is 'No' (or a no type response), however, even though the panel visibility remains false upon selecting No a postback still occurrs, the page refreshes and moves back to the top. I suppose this is a question with 2 possible solutions (or 2 questions rather)
1: Is there anyway of setting postback to false if selected value = No? A typical example of how my code appears is below

(i've used the value '1' to represenet Yes)
2: Is there a way of setting the page position after postback? As you can see in my code above i've set the focus on the next control (being a Radio Button) but i mean, is there an actual way of defining where the scroll bar is set?

From one of my webpage, I am opening up another form as ModalDialog, and on this form, I have a Grid, Treeview and some other controls.

I have some code on click of Treeview Node, I fill out other data in Grid on click of Treeview Node.
Now the problem is when page posts back ( on click of Treeview Node ) , page flickers once during filling up data in Grid.
Basically whenever page.ispostback is true, page flickers, Now I want to avoid this.
I have to keep "SmartNavigation="false"" on this page because of some of the Treeview Problems.
Specifically on Node click of Treeview and on Update button press.

This upload is working. But why the page is getting refreshed? this is not partial post back and instead it 's full post back. i have read the articles for the fileuplaod with issue inside the update panel. is there any way to achieve this asynchronous upload on button click?
I don't want to use the Ajaxtoolkit Asyncupload because that will upload (Ref : [URL] ....] the moment when we seelct the file itself which i don't want to do that. i need to do on the button click event.

I have three cascading dropdowns on my web page and they work fine. The issue I am facing is that there are other controls on the page which cause a postback and with each postback the cascading drop downs are being re-populated (service methods are called) which is becoming a performnace issue.

How can i generate dropdown lists based on what has been selected in the checckbox list. I am running into some additional difficulties with dropdown lists, and I'm hoping you can correct my thinking.
I have a table populated with items; ITEM_ID, ITEM_NAME, ITEM_COST.
Here is my code:

With this code I get this error: DataBinding: 'ITEM' does not contain a property with the name '2'.
If I remove the assignment of DataSource to c1, the dropdown generates this error: 'DropDownList3' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.
Parameter name: value
How should I code this so that the user is presented with a list of ITEM_NAMES, and that the ITEM_ID is stored in the value field so I can use it when the selection event is fired? I know I could databind the source directly to the dropdown list, but I am trying to understand the behind the scenes working of a dropdown list object.

I have a webpage used to document work performed on a job. There can be as many as 6 employees for every line of work documented and I have placed 6 ddl's which are all populated with the same list of employees along with 6 text boxes for the hours. I loop through each ddl in the code behind to add the work performed to the server but I'm thinking there must be a better way to do this. I'll add the code for the first two ddl's so you can get an idea of what I need to do.

I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.

I need to populate a dropdown list with users who match certain role criteria. For example, if I have the following roles: Manager, Employee, Supervisor I would like to populate the list with only the Manager and Employee roles. Some individuals have multiple roles and they should be excluded if they also have the Supervisor role as illustrated below:
Name: A , Role(s): Manager, Employee, Supervisor
Name: B, Role(s): Employee
Name: C, Role(s): Manager, Employee
The final list should only contain names B & C.
I can use Roles.GetUsersInRole("Employee") but I am not sure if this is efficient or not.

I'm working with CascadingDropDown Lists, like CAR > MODEL > ACESSORIES.
Everything have worked fine, but there are some CAR MODELS that don't have ACESSORIES, so I want to HIDE the DROPDOWN "ACESSORIES" if a MODEL that doesn't have ACESSORIES be selected. If the user select a MODEL that has ACESSORIES, so the DROPDOWN ACESSORIES appears.
I think that I might use something like "DIV STYLE:HIDDEN"...
