AJAX :: Force TabPanel To Fill Entire Height Of Page?
Feb 2, 2010
How do I go about forcing a TabPanel to fill the entire height of the page? Each of the tabs in the tab control are being populated with different data such that each panel is of a different height. Some of the tabs may only fill half of the page while others may exceed it, which is why I can't simply hardcode the height. I've tried wrapping the <contenttemplate></contenttemplate> inside of a div and set the div height to 100%, but that obviously did nothing.

I'm having a problem with entering edit mode in Gridview. When I click edit, it shows it in normal mode (labels) even though RowCommand does successfully fire.
But I have to click it AGAIN to get it to show the TextBoxes of 'Edit' mode.
How can I fix this? Is there a way to force a 'postback' on the entire page, or re-render a control? (i'm assuming thats the problem)
Here's the pseudo code:
GridView1_RowCommand(....)
If e.CommandArgument = "EDIT" then
GridView1.EditIndex = 5
End IF
End Function
A click of the 'edit' button returns the gridview with the normal labels. Then when I click it again, the TextBoxes show up.

My site has an iFrame that displays content from and second site. I don't control the second site. When a user clicks on a link in the iFrame, I want it to redirect the entire page, not just the iFrame. I've seen solutions for doing this from the iFrame, but I need to do it solely from the parent. I'd prefer to do it in the code behind, but a javascript solution would be acceptable.

I have the folllowig css:
div.ListDiv {
width: 750px; /* Table width will be 99% of this */
height: 320px; /* Must be greater than tbody */
overflow: auto;
}
table {
width: 99%; /* 100% of container produces horizontal scroll in Mozilla */
border: none;
}
table>tbody { /* Child selector syntax which IE6 and older do not support */
overflow: auto;
height: 215px;
overflow-x: hidden;
}
thead tr {
position:relative;
top: expression(offsetParent.scrollTop); /* For IE5+ only */
}
thead td {
background-color: #CCCCCC;
font-weight: bold;
}
td {
color: #000000;
text-align: left;
}
table tfoot tr {
position: relative;
overflow-x: hidden;
top: expression(parentNode.parentNode.offsetHeight >= offsetParent.offsetHeight ? 0 - parentNode.parentNode.offsetHeight + offsetParent.offsetHeight + offsetParent.scrollTop : 0);
}
tfoot td {
background-color: #CCCCCC;
}
td:last-child { /* Prevent Mozilla scrollbar from hiding cell content */
padding-right: 20px;
}
When I have a list with 1 or 2, rows the row height automaticaly expand to fill the heigt of the table.
How can I avoid this happening, and have fixed height colimns.

if there is any config setting or any other way to force the response to be written all at once instead of it being written in multiple packets??The problem is I am using a response filter to edit anchor href's and the html parser (HtmlAgilityPack) strips out the malformed HTML when the framework writes to the response stream multiple times, so enforcing an all at once write would solve this headache.

I have a table where I have a cell that spans all of the rows and it contains a Multiline TextBox, what I would like is that textbox to fill the entire cell regardless of how big it is.
I tried this:
Code:
<td rowspan="14"><asp:TextBox ID="AppInfoTextBox" TextMode="MultiLine" style="width:100%;height:100%;" runat="server" /></td>
Here's how it's rendering:
I don't know at coding time what the size will be, the page is opened in a popup window and the user can re-size the window so I need it to be whatever the cell size is.

I have a gridview with certain boxes that are highlighted in green. These boxes should fill the entire box, but I can't seem to trash this 1px border around the edges. I'm using IE7, but FF does it too.

I have an aspx page which contains a table with 2 textboxes, and a nested table containing several other controls.
How can I autosize the main table so it fills the available page, and resize the 2 textbox rows to fill 50% each (height) of the remaining space and 100% width after the other fixed sized rows are displayed?

I don't know why, but even using update panel, my postback method updates the entire page. I'm using a master page with aspScriptManager inside.
My ASP.Net code:
<div> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="updProva" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate> <asp:Panel ID="pnlProva" runat="server">
</asp:Panel> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div>
The CodeBehind (C#) creating some RadioButtonList controls in my ASP.Net page, I'll post the main function and de Page_Load:
createTest function

I have been searching the net and found no clean cut answer to my problem. I have an animated spinning gif, that is displayed within an 'UpdateProgress'. This gif is to be displayed when the page is posting back to the server and processing.
The animation will start to spin but basically stright away it stops. I have noticed that the file menu within IE is also frozen at this point, up untill the page fully refreshes. I have tested in firefox and safari and am recieving the same problems.
developing in visual studio 2010, framework 4.0, IE 7,8.

I know practically nothing about AJAX, but fully intended to utilize it in the future. Right now though I am noticing a behavior that may require that I implement it sooner then I planned.
I have been working on a fairily sophesticated web form that is made up of tables, dropdown lists, map buttons, and labels. As various controls are selected, specific tables are enabled or dropdowns/labels populated with information. All of this is working great, but when I put it all on a server and accessed it from a remote location, I noticed that every single action caused the entire page to reload.
From what I have read, it looks like AJAX and the UpdatePanel control will allow me to only refresh those areas that should be refreshed. Before I look further into implementing this, is this the only way to go? From what I have read on some other blogs, the UpdatePanel has some high performance costs.

I come from a windows dev environment so the web makes me feel like a big dummy.
I am using VS2008, VB.NET, 3.5 Framework, ASP.NET, AjaxControlToolkit.
I have included a screen shot that might help to look at while you read my attempt to explain my issue below!
I just recently discovered in a book here on my desk how to interact with a master page programmatically from a nested master page or a regular aspx child page. The method they describe makes sense and is familar to me because they use Public Properties on the master page to manipulate the GUI and controls on the master page. But since they are public, the child pages can see them and fire them off. Makes sense.
I thought I could use this method to do the opposite of that and have the master page fire off something (say a public property in a nested page) to have it then do some work and update things on that nested page.
For example,
I have a MASTERPAGE.MASTER. Under that, I have a LEFTNAV.MASTER (so its a nested master page). Then, under that I have my default.aspx page.
(I did that so that for some of my regular aspx pages I could just tie them directly to the master page so that they dont have a left navigation page...like for big charts or graphs, etc. Is that the best way for that by the way?)
So on the masterpage, I have just a simple asp.net search textbox and an asp.net search button. When they type something in and click search, I want it to add a tab to the AJAXControlToolkit - TabPanel that I have on the default.aspx page, then some other things such as update a datagridview there with the search results.
I can do all of this except the event firing and scope. I cannot see a way to make a button on the master page up top fire off an event that is on the default.aspx page to make it do what it needs to do.
What I tried doing was creating a public property on my default.aspx page. I have some actual code in the SET to do some GUI manipulation and change some stuff on the page. But on my master page within the search button's click event, I cannot see where to call this public property on the default.aspx page...

I'm developing a web page with tabcontainer. I want to hide one tabpanel on the client side. So I don't want to se "TabContainer1.Tabs(0).Visible = False" as I want it to be a client side event. I tried following code in js
"
var objTab = $find('<%=TabContainer1.ClientID%>');
objTab.get_tabs()[0]._hide(); //objTab.get_tabs()[0]._show();
"
However, it doesn't work for the first time loading the page. I guess it only works when an ajax postback happens. Is there any way to hide this when I first load the page, and then if I click on button "show", it will show up without any ajax postback (backend coding)?

I have an Accordion within a Tab container and it works until I set the Accordion AutoSize to Fill or Limit, then my Accordion disappears. I get the same result with IE7, FireFox 2.0.0.8 and Opera 9.24. Is it possible, or at least supposed to be possible to do this?

For a website I was asked to put a bunch of information inside a few different categories. The tabpanel seemed fitting for this, and the person I made it for approved of the simple and elegant sollution.
However, he now has a somewhat tricky request: he wants it so that when people print (javascript::print()), they would be able to see all the information entered in the different tabs. Normally I would solve a thing like this with a different print rules inside my css file. However, in this case, the javascript attached to the tabcontainer/tabpanels puts the visibility:hidden on the elements themselves, meaning whatever I may write inside the css would be ignored either way.
Is there any simple way of making it so that these tabs will be shown when printing?
Preferably a sollution that doesn't require me to rewrite most of the tabcontainer/panel code or making my own control from scratch. I would think that this "should" be achievable through javascript, but I thought I'd check here for ideas before rushing into things.

I have a tabcontainer which has 7 tab panels and on certain conditions i want to make 1 tab either visible false or remove from the TabContainer. Firstly, i had set tab visible false but by doing this my TabContainer1_ActiveTabChanged event fired twice intially when i select the tab panel then it fire and shows my correct ActiveTabIndex number but but at the same moment it fires again with 1 Decrement in ActiveTabIndex number.
I could not understand why it is happening.What thing makes the ActiveTabIndex number decremented by 1. If select Tab 3 then it shows me result of 2 and so on.
Why this event firing twice i set any tab Visible false.

I have two pages with TabControls and the tabcontrols have several tabpanels. On one page there are some popupcontrol extenders on the first tab, and that page works fine. On the second page, the popupcontrolextenders are on the second tab. When that page loads, I get the following jscript error:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.ArgumentException: Value must not be null for Controls and Behaviors.
Parameter name: element
I've tried setting the Enabled property to false for these popupcontrolextenders until that tab becomes visible. This prevents the error on page load, but but then the same error happens as soon as that tab becomes visible.
Is it possible to use a popupcontrolextender on a tabpanel, or should I give up and try something different?
