How do force full page rendering in async call process?
[Code]....
Here is the code. On button click it should perform async refreshing. Instead it does a full page postback.
[Code]....
I am reading a tutorial article on this site about Partial Rendering using ScriptManager.EnablePartialRendering - [URL] The article uses button_click to demonstrate Partial Rendering without full page reload. I copy exactly the same codes but everytime I click the button the page refreshes.
I have examined after the page is loaded - ScriptManager1.EnablePartialRendering = true ScriptManager1.SupportsPartialRendering = true I am using vs2005 .NET 2.0 and AJAX extension 1.0 (same version as used in the article)
I want to make an async call to the server when an achor tag is clicked and then have the browser advance to the href without waiting for the async call to return a result. I am using System.Web.UI.ICallbackEventHandler. My server code is not executing. The server code only executes if the GetCallbackEventReference call specifies a clientscript value which means the page has to wait before advancing. What am i doing wrong?
My client code is:
<script type="text/javascript">
function ReceiveServerData(arg, context) {
}
function DoAsyncTask(arg)
{
CallServer(arg, '');
return false;
}
</script>
Ajax Full Calendar Event Rendar Problems in Firefox browser but its Showa in google chrome browser. How can i Solve this...
View 1 RepliesI have a simple web page in ASP.NET / C#. Currently to fully render the data I require calling a block of code that runs on background threads and can take multiple minutes to complete. I've got it to the point (using the async attribute on the page declaration) to execute and return fine with the html once it's done. What I'd like it to do is allow me to return immediately with a 'loading page' of some sort and then have that page be updated when the background work has been completed. Right now I get nothing on the page while the background work is being processed.
View 3 RepliesSince data saving is a time consuming, I would like to call data saving method using Ajax and that too Async what i mean is as soon as the user click submit button it just display the confirmation page and data saving bit keeps going on in the background.
Is this possible using Ajax tool kit?
In our application we have a scenario where we need to display a panel using modalpopupextender after performing an async call on the server. We were using the Show method for displaying the popup. It used to work fine without any async call. But when an async call was introduced during the request processing the popup is not getting displayed.
View 7 RepliesI have an Async File Uploader control inside a Repeater which is inside an update panel. Now,I am uploading the file into ftp,so I am not uploading the video file,using SaveAs() method. For uploading the file in ftp,I have this UploadFile method which takes these four parameter:FileName, UploadPath, FTPUser, FTPPassword.Now this FileName,I have to send the full file path. My UploadComplete event looks like this:
<pre lang="cs">protected void AsyncVideoUpload_UploadedComplete(object sender, AjaxControlToolkit.AsyncFileUploadEventArgs e)
{//VideoPath is a session variable
VideoPath = string.Empty;
if (AsyncVideoUpload.HasFile)
{
// string filepath = AsyncVideoUpload.PostedFile.FileName;
string filepath = e.filename;//above two captures only the file name,but I want the total path,like c:/MyDocuments/...
UploadFile(filepath, "ftp://172.20.117.102","test","Value*12");
VideoPath = AsyncVideoUpload.PostedFile.FileName;
}
}</pre>
I have a few custom composite controls that set their cssclass only when calling their ApplyStyleSheetSkin method.I worked around this by creating a function which recursively walks through all controls on a page and calls that method, but I was wondering if there isn't a way to do this automatically? (i.e. how do I tell the aspx page to call the ApplyStyleSheetSkin method inside the controls?
View 1 RepliesI am calling a web service via Javascript. I tried it first in a web page that does not have a Masterpage and it worked perfectly. Then I moved everything over to a web page that does use a Masterpage, and I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required" on the javascript statement that calls the web service. My javascript statements look like so:

The web service looks like:

The page source is:

I am getting a JSON object from a webMethod by the call below and I set some textBox values based on the returned objects attributes.Problem is, just for a moment my textBoxes are populated but then immidiately they return back to empty.Do I make a mistake or I cannot make DOM elements modifications within a success function?
var ajaxCallOptions = {
type: "POST",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "/JQuery/Chapter16-AJAX/PersonWebServices.asmx/GetPerson",
personId'));"/>

I want to re-render my calendar control when selecting a new month, is this possible without making a full postback? The reasonfor this is that I mark different dates with different background colors in the calendar, and I want to do this for the newly selected month aswell.
View 5 RepliesI am building a page with databound list control. For each row I want to display piece of info retrieved from web service call. This could be time demanding so I want to render page first and retrieved additional info asynchronously and in parallel later on. Anyone has some tips how to make it? Just to have a more detailed picture it is a product list in e-shop which I want to render so customers can use it (go to product detail/add goods to shopping cart...) but meantime there will be a placeholder displaying info that informations are retrieving which after completion of call will be replaced by result data.
View 2 RepliesI'd like to programmatically force a full page postback to occur after an event is fired by one of the child controls. I can't add any triggers to make this work so it will have to be done via code.
View 2 Repliesc# - How do I force full post-back from a button within an UpdatePanel?
View 3 RepliesI found this solution to force full postbacks from within an UpdatePanel
<Triggers>
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="controlID" />
</Triggers>
but my control is actually inside an ItemTemplate nested in a GridView. Therefore when my page loads, it doesn't find that control.
How can I force a full postback from my control (an asp:LinkButton) from within my GridView?
For example, I am using wenclient.DownloadfileAsync to download a file asynchronously.
In the DownloadFileCompleted event handler, I can check if I have any exception or not by using AsyncCompletedEventArgs.Error property.
If I re-throw this exception, however my executable is stopping running immediately.
I am wondering how to handle this kind of exeception? How to pass this exception back to the
calling thread?
My javascript code is calling a asp.net webservice, so i have a call to the webservice something like this:MyWebservice.GetData(param, ResponseReceived, ResponseTimeOut, ResponseError);When the webservice returns data, ResponseReceived method is called.However sometimes the user might navigate to another url before the webservice call actually returns, in such a scenario FireFox throws an Error saying 'An error occured oricessubg the request. The server method GetData failed'So my question is how can i kill the async call when the user navigates to another page or makes another request to the webservice? I know in a normal XMLHttpRequest i could have called Abort method, but not sure how to make it work with the above webservice proxy.
View 2 Repliesi have an Async JQuery Treeview working, but in addition to filling out the tree - id like for every node expanded to update part of the page with information as well - is this possible?My View looks like this:

And my Controller looks like this:

Is something like this possible?
Dim iCounter as Integer
Dim iQuantity as Integer = 10
Protected Sub btnFoo_Click Handles btnFoo Yadda
For i as Integer = iCounter to iQuantity - 1
//do something with AsyncPostBackTrigger until iCounter = iQuantity - 1
//then trigger a full postback
Next
End Sub
I am new to the concept and feel like there must be something really easy that I am missing.
I'm trying to save some content whenever a button/hyperlink is clicked using jquery.ajax (Using Asp.net 3.5). The logic is as follows:
Through .bind in jquery I bind my own method(MakeLog) to a button click or hyperlink click. The click events of button/hyperlink contain nothing, I need to use .bind for selective controls.Now we have a button whose click event will fire a method, say MakeLog.Code snippet for MakeLog is as follows:
var xhr = jQuery.ajax({
url: "/Logger.aspx",
data: { content: logContent }, [code]....
This works fine in IE but in Firefox this is not sending the data back as expected.I tried to identify the issue and came across the following: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3522944/jquery-ajax-calls-async-false-vs-async-true .What I understand is that, whenver page is redirecting/reloading due to button click or hyperlink click the async call is not working properly.
When you have a public class declared and this class is used somewhere outside the class, you want them to invoke the function X before using other functions. What do you do? In other words, in a class C, you have a constructor and function X, Y, and Z. When this class is used, you want to make sure function X is the first function called other then the constructor.

Im implementing a simple form with ajax to warn the user if email has been used or not for registration, and it looks to be working fine with IE but mozilla does a full page postback and refreshes the whole page.
I already tried changing to updatemode to conditional, all the triggers are set as async, etc but mozilla keeps doing the same, Im sure it is a known problem I may not be the first one facing this problem so i guess there is a simple workaround for this.
