Jun 25, 2010This is what i am trying to do with asp.net updatepanel.i have button and a panel inside my updatepanel. when the button inside the updatepanel gets clicked i want to dynamically add new controls such as LinkButtons to my panel1 without full post back. Now when the dynamically added controls gets clicked it causes a full post pack and also not calling "LinkButton1_Click" event. i am sure i am doing something wrong here.

Using Javascript Confirm Dialog On A Button Within An UpdatePanel - Posting Back Full Page?
Mar 31, 2011I basically want to show a dialog box with confirm or cancel options on it.
Confirm should allow the partial postback to take place, cancel should not. I have tried using a trigger and calling __doPostBack() as advised here but it posts back the full page not just the panel.

UPDATE:
I have changed the doPostBack to use the button ID now and commented out the return true and false lines. When I click the button it calls the confirmation dialog but when you click on confirm it appears to do nothing. I was expecting a call to the method AddExtraVehicle_Click but the breakpoint didn't trigger.

but my control is actually inside an ItemTemplate nested in a GridView. Therefore when my page loads, it doesn't find that control.
How can I force a full postback from my control (an asp:LinkButton) from within my GridView?

Dec 16, 2010I have been searching the net and found no clean cut answer to my problem. I have an animated spinning gif, that is displayed within an 'UpdateProgress'. This gif is to be displayed when the page is posting back to the server and processing.
The animation will start to spin but basically stright away it stops. I have noticed that the file menu within IE is also frozen at this point, up untill the page fully refreshes. I have tested in firefox and safari and am recieving the same problems.

Jul 14, 2010Being new to ASP.NET I have run into trouble building my own Whack-a-mole program. I think my problem comes from using Buttons, which by themselves send post backs to the server, making the software unusable. The looks are in place, making new buttons show up in the grid, in different places by random. However, when a button is pushed - the score doesn't change (which I feel is strange).
Not so strange is that the Button doesn't work since it sends post back to the server - reloading the UpdatePanel. I think I should use a different controller like the CheckBox and style it hard using CSS (which isn't a problem). Is this the correct way to go, or should I make use of JavaScript AJAX instead?
Note to self: This technique shouldn't be used in a public application since it put too much unwanted pressure on the web server.

Mar 29, 2010I have orders page. When user submit Order, I need to disable the button to avoid multiple transactions. I also have few validation controls on the page, so button should not be disabled untill page is about to be posted. I dont have any custom javascript for validation. It is just these asp.net validation controls. What is the best way to achieve that? I have spend about 2 hours on google and found various solutions, but nothing seems to work. Each has some issue. On button I add OnClientClick="return btnOnClick this, 'Payment');" Below is what gets called. Unfortunately if I disable button, it cancels post back. So I am calling dopostback and also adding few lines on server side to see which button caused postback. It works fine in IE8 and Chrome. But for Firefox on server side arg comes null. Any ideas what is wrong with my code? Or any other suggestions to do it in a better way?

AJAX :: UpdatePanel Behavior After Using Browser Back Button?
Feb 1, 2010I basically have a web app where the user enters some form info in Page1. This info is submitted and a SQL database is updated. The user is directed to Page2.
Page 2 contains a summary of info submitted in Page1, a PRINT button, and two UpdatePanels. Each UpdatePanel contains a ListView where the user can add, edit and remove items. Once the user is happy with the page, they click PRINT. This takes them to a printer-friendly page with NO on-page navigation.
Once printed using the browser print button, the user clicks the browser back button. In this case it is always IE8 running the pages. When you return to Page2, the content of the ListViews in the UpdatePanels looks like the first step when Page2 was entered from Page1. All work done on Page2 from that intial point is not there. Click the browser refresh button and the entire page will load.
Why does this happen? When the user clicks the browser back button in the printer friendly page, I need the screen to show Page2 with all the info from just before the PRINT button was pressed.
I can provide code, but initially thought it would confuse/clutter the post.

3/ outside of updatepanel i have another button("next page") to redirect to next page.
When the page is loading, i am displaying all the records in datagrid. For an example 100 rocords. if i entered some values in textbox and click the button it fetches searching result based on inputs and displaying it in datagrid (for example searched result 20).
Now, I click the button "next page" it redirect to next page. if the user click the browser back button, i need to keep the datagrid to show only searched result. but Instead of that, it displaying all the records(100 records). how to resolve this?
