AJAX :: Tabcontainer Shows Wrong Tab Data After Postback

Feb 22, 2011

My setup is as follows: I have 4 tabs of data, all of which are invisible when the page loads. The user enters some search criteria, hits the search button, and then the first tab fills up a gridview with data and becomes visible. One of the columns in this grid is a linkbutton named 'detail'. When they click on 'detail', the 3 remaining tabs go and get their data from the database and become visible. On tab#2, I have a listview which allows editing/adding of data. Here is my problem: When I click the imagebutton on the listview that puts the listview into edit mode, the data from the first tab is now shown on the second tab.

So the correct tab (tab#2) remains selected, but the other tab's data is being displayed. Has anyone else run across this? I have tried numerous combinations of update panels and triggers but I always get the same results. Also, the last 3 tabs each contain a usercontrol. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

AJAX :: TabContainer Hiding On Postback

Sep 18, 2010

I have a asp.net page that contains a Ajax TabContainer control with three tabs, this is all dynamically created and added using the code-behind file. Inside each tab I have one or more gridview controls that can cause a postback for various reasons.

When a gridview control causes a postback, the entire tabcontainer gets hidden on the page and therefore nothing is displayed. In the HTML source code I can see that the controls have been added to the page, but the tabcontainer has a style added to it (style="visibility: hidden"]. If I remove this style using the developer tools, the tabcontainer displays and all tabs, but some of the styling gets lost. Is there a specific reason why this occurs and how I can resolve this?

AJAX :: TabContainer Inside A Updatepanel Causes The Browser To Postback Twice While First One Is Aborted?

Dec 2, 2010

When I want to optimize my tab container for network traffic, I faced a rare problem.

When first time the page is requested the content in the first panel is visible. the other panel content are invisible. When user switches the tab i am setting the panel visible and update the updatepanel. this works fine after i have put the tab container inside a update panel and set the update mode conditional and children as trigger as false. But when i include the tab container inside an update panel and change the tab in the browser, i see two postback from the browser in firebug net traffic window. THe first postback status is displayed as aborted. Eventhough the functionality is working correct.

State Management :: Data Being Saved To Wrong Table In Wrong Instance Of Sqlserver Of Wrong Database?

Aug 1, 2010

I have a weird thing happening. I have two identical databases installed on one virtual machine but under two different instances of SQLServer. For some reason, periodically when saving from one it will save to the other instead. Using debug, I have verified that the connection string is correct and when the item saves, it still saves to the wrong database.I use session variable, and am of the belief that it might have something to do with it...and t hat when I go from one to the other it is still getting the connection string form the other for some reason.To make sure that it isn't a problem, I make sure that I completely close out one database before opening the other in a new IE window.I assume that when I completely close out an internet explorer window that it abandons all session states. Is that true?

ADO.NET :: Data Saving To Wrong Database On Wrong Instance Of Sqlserver

Aug 1, 2010

I have a very weird thing happening. I have two databases that have exactly the same tables but different database names on the same virtual machine, but in different instances of SQL Server. For some reason, when using one of them, it will save to the other. In debug, looking at my connection string..I have verified that it is correct, yet when I allow the save, I look in the table and it isn't there, it is in the other database that is in a table with a completely different name and in a different instance of SQL Server.

Ajaxcontroltoolkit - Maintaining ActiveTabIndex On Postback Within TabContainer

Sep 23, 2010

This probably has been asked many times before but I was wondering how to maintain the ActiveTabIndex of an AjaxControlToolKit TabContainer. The only way I can think of achieving such a thing is to store the ActiveTabIndex in the session and checking for this on postback. Are there any other solutions to solve this problem?

AJAX :: Webservice Returns Wrong Data?

Jun 25, 2010

So I have a WebMethod that I call using jQuery. The method is supposed to return a unique URL to a image file created dynamicly.

The WebMethod is called in a for loop so anywhere from 1 to 50 calls gets fired async.

The problem is that the webservice seems to be using the same instance of the object, so that it returns the same value to a couple of the requests.

[Code]....

Shouldn't the WebMethod create a new instance of the class for each call, so that all values are stored individually in memory?

Postback Before Page Fully Loaded Cause Dropdownlist To Have The Wrong SelectedValue?

Oct 18, 2010

We were having occasional reports where the value of a set of DropDownBoxs in a GridView would be reset to the first value item in the list.

We finally tracked it down to a timing issue where a user would click Save before the page finished rendering/loading the data, and we are able to repro it on the production server but not locally because the page loads too quickly.

How would we go about detecting this on the server side to know the data returned is invalid or otherwise stop from setting data that the user didn't set?

How To Preserve The Index And Make Sure The TabContainer And The TabPanel Is Loaded At Postback

Mar 26, 2010

At first time page load the TabContainer and TabPanel is shown where the default tab index is zero. This panel has some user controls and a "Go" button. The "Go" button loads a GridView is a separate panel. So far things ar good.

Now when I either sort or page throught the GridView, the TabContainer disappears. I read somewhere that the current tab index would be preserved during post back. So how can I preserve the index and make sure the TabContainer and the TabPanel is loaded at postback and still have the information originally entered by users in the controls? Could I use a "Session" variable?

JQuery :: Stops Working On Elements Placed In Updatepanel En Tabcontainer (postback)?

Apr 2, 2010

I want to load a popup when a user clicks a button. The buttons are images located inside a tabpanel. The first time the page is loaded the helpEvents DOES display the popup and the 'click' popup. Then I navigate to Tabpanel tab2, and the helpTickets button doesnt work (doesnt even display the 'click' popup) Then I navigate back to Tabpanel tpEventDetails, and the helpEvents button doesnt work anymore either(and also doesnt even display the 'click' popup anymore) So I think something gets lost in the updatepanel on callback...but what? and how to fix it?

C# - TabContainer In The AJAX Toolkit

Sep 20, 2010

Having a strange issue with the TabContainer in the AJAX Toolkit. We have several views into a customer record system that we have built as ASP.net controls. These controls use UpdatePanels to load data asynchronously. We use jQuery and jquery.ui to place these controls in separate tabs on a single page. Which all works swimmingly. Lately, I've gotten a little tired of the jQuery tab hackish approach and decided to port everything to use the TabContainer. I want to be able to control the tabs as objects.

At first glance, everything works perfectly. I just slapped the controls into tabs in a TabContainer and everything looked great. However, for some reason, databound controls are losing their data. For instance, grid views vanish when I switch pages. A drop down control with an OnTextChanged event, loses its databound list of values upon post back. Something about the TabContainer -> Custom Control -> UpdatePanel -> Control that uses data binding heirarchy is throwing it out of whack and the debugger isn't shedding any light. It seems like control state isn't being stored. I don't really know enough about control state to know what to look for. Here is the markup for the TabContainer:

<asp:TabContainer ID="tcBanner" runat="server" ActiveTabIndex="0" Width="100%"
EnableViewState="False" ScrollBars="Vertical">
<asp:TabPanel runat="server" HeaderText="Comments" ID="tbComments">
<ContentTemplate>
<luBannerControl:Comments ID="commentsTabContent" runat="server" />
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:TabPanel>
<asp:TabPanel runat="server" HeaderText="General" ID="tbContact">
<ContentTemplate>
<luBannerControl:Contact ID="contactTabContent" runat="server" />
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:TabPanel>
</asp:TabContainer>
Here is the markup for one of the controls:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="pnlComments" UpdateMode="Conditional" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="CommentsGridView" AllowPaging="true" PageSize="20" DataSourceID="BannerSqlDataSource" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" GridLines="None" CssClass="CommentGrid" HeaderStyle-CssClass="CommentGridHeader" RowStyle-CssClass="CommentRowsEven" AlternatingRowStyle-CssClass="CommentRowsOdd">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="SPRCMNT_TEXT" HeaderText="Comment" SortExpression="SPRCMNT_TEXT" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="SPRCMNT_DATE" HeaderText="Created" SortExpression="SPRCMNT_DATE" DataFormatString="{0:M/dd/yyyy}" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="SPRCMNT_CMTT_CODE" HeaderText="Type" SortExpression="SPRCMNT_CMTT_CODE" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="SPRCMNT_CTYP_CODE" HeaderText="Source" SortExpression="SPRCMNT_CTYP_CODE" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="sprcmnt_user_id" HeaderText="User" SortExpression="sprcmnt_user_id" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="txtSearch" EventName="TextChanged" />
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnClearFilter" EventName="Click" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
