Access :: Get A Jet Provider To Work In Windows XP X64?

Jun 9, 2010

I feel certain this has been asked before, but while I can find a number of discussions related to Server 2003 x64 and the Jet 4.0 provider, none pop up for Windows XP x64 and the Jet provider.I need to work on a .Net application that uses Access databases. There's no changing data stores and no changing of the Operating Systems. How do I get a Jet provider to work in Windows XP x64?FOLLOW-UP: I solved this; it uses exactly the same steps as used for Server 2003 x64 PLUS (and this is missing even on MSDN) it requires an aspnet_regiis to register 32-bit asp.net.

OleDB Provider For Oracle Not Found In Windows Server 2008 With IIS 7

Even though my app isnīt able to connect to DataBase. The message says that Oracle components havenīt been found. It doesnīt find the OleDB Provider for Oracle or some dll.

Web Forms :: VirtualPath Provider Does Not Work On Localhost?

Dec 30, 2010

My virtualpath provider works well in VS 2010 but doesn't in IIS 7.5 on my localhost. In IIS, I get a HTTP 404 when I fetch an aspx, which is normal because the aspx is in a table. The problem seems linked to the sequence

HostingEnvironment.RegisterVirtualPathProvider(new MyProviderClass) in the AppInitialize method.

There is no exception raised but the instruction seems to no avail :

If I try object O = HostingEnvironment.VirtualPathProvider immediately after the registering, I see that O==null.

Again, it works perfectly well in VS.

Windows Server Version Requirements Needed When Contacting Web Hosting Provider?

Nov 30, 2010

We are trying to implment some forms written in ASP.NET 2.0 and I'm trying to understand what Windows server version requirements are needed when contacting a web hosting provider etc? I see there are many versions from 1.0, 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 which appears to be the latest version, well as far as I can see. Therefore if we sign up for hosting services and the provider only have only version 4 will this be backward compatible to support our ASP.NET 2.0 forms?

Iis6 - Application With Windows Authentication And Custom Membership Provider Advice

Feb 15, 2011

I've been asked to upgrade a few applications and I'm planning on merging all of them into one asp.net application. I'm fine with this decision and have spoken with fellow workers and they also think it's the best option to go with.

The application will be accessed from a small group of users which belong to a larger domain. I'm currently planning on using Windows authentication and only allow this small set of users to access the asp.net application. Also there must be some role management, so that only certain users can view certain functionality.

I really don't want to have many different windows groups; so I want to avoid having to assign different windows groups to different folders and control permissions in the web.config.

What I'd like to do is:

- Assign one windows group to the small group of users who will access the page.

- Create a custom membership provider and control the user who accesses the application. Depending on the user I will then assign his current set of roles.

- Add an application setting to the web.config, with the name of the current administrator, so if he logs in, he will be assigned all roles, and will be able to create and assign roles to other users.

Access :: Specifying Provider Name Within C# Class?

Apr 8, 2010

I am adapting a book example of a shopping cart application, and have almost, got it complety working. I am using an access database rather than a sql server one used in the example. Earlier on I found I had an issue with the sql datasource where I had to specify the provider name as below of I would get the error about provider keyname not being supported

ConnectionString
="<%$ ConnectionStrings:OICConnectString %>"
ProviderName
="System.Data.OleDb"

Now, within once of the classes, it refers to the database connection string and this is now where the same error occurs, when the page requires this class and it must be because the provider name is not specified, but i'm new to C# so I'm not sure how to do it.

Here is this part of the class

public
static
bool WriteOrder(Order o)
{
string cs =

MVC :: 2.0 RTM Cannot Work With VWD 2008 Express On A New Windows 7 Pro?

Mar 16, 2010

The MVC 2.0 RTM works great on my old Vista machine with VWD 2008 Express, but I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Pro, installed VWD 2008 Express SP1 and MVC 2.0 RTM by using Web PI 2.0. but after installation, I found the VWD doesn't have any MVC options, that means I can't either create new MVC projects or compile existing MVC projects. Why? What other steps I need to do to make it work?

I'm sure the MVC has been installed properly since my MVC site on the new computer works well (so the IIS side has no problem), just the VWD can't 'realize' that the MVC framework is already installed... (tried to uninstall and install many times, but won't work)

Response.Write(User.Identity.Name.toString());

It returned correctly "my windows login usernameDomainname" however, I tried to deploy it on the windows server 2008, it returned "computer name/Administrator" Then, I tried to access this page from my computer which was redirected to 401 error. Moreover, I looked for the system property which showed that this server and my machine are on the same domain group.
