Adding CSS Class To Field From DataAnnotations MVC 3?
Feb 2, 2011
Is it possible to add a CSS class from DataAnnotations (metadata) when I use Html.EditorForModel() - without a custom template...
Something like this [DataType(CssClass = "DateTime")]
public class TestInput
{
[Required(ErrorMessage = "Name is required.")]
public string Name { get; set; }
[Required, StringLength(500)]
[DataType(DataType.MultilineText)]
public string Description { get; set; }
[Required]
[DataType(CssClass = "DateTime")]
public DateTime Date { get; set; }
[HiddenInput(DisplayValue = false)]
public int Id { get; set; }
}
i'm worried about doing this since my changes will be overwritten when the dbml file is auto generated again (as they often are).
i'm thinking of doing a partial class and writing out the same properties to annotate them, but worried that it will complain about duplicates, and the reason i can't even experiment brings me to the second part of my questions...
... that, the expandable arrow on my dbml file listing is missing, right clicking and selecting "View Code" just displays an empty partial class as below...
Partial Class FPDataContext End Class
I'm using VS2010 RC and am just developing an MVC 2.0 app where i want to be able to use the UI Annotations such as [UIHint("RelativeDateTime")]
edit:
here is my VB version edit as an example...
Imports System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations <MetadataType(GetType(CommentMetaData))> _ Partial Public Class Comment End Class Public Class CommentMetaData <UIHint("PostedSince")> _ Public Property DateAdded() As DateTime End Class
I have a few field in my entity that i wish to be non-editable. Looking in the docs it seems like "EditableAttribute" would do the trick. However this is only 4.0Just wondering if there are other attributes that would have the desire effect. So be clear, i have a field called "DateRegistered" i wish to display this as string not text field using "Html.EditorFor"
I have created an App_Code folder in my MVC 2 project and added a C# Class to it. In my Controller I have added a using reference to the namespace my class is in so that i can create an instance. However when I run the project it says there is a build error and that the namespace could not be found or doesn't exist. I have added a namespace to the <pages><namespaces> part of the config file and that didn't fix it.
I have a website built that uses master page templates. In the master page I have a simple menu in a list. This is not dynamic (yet!).
I am trying to put together some code behind to write a simple css class to one of the menu links if the Request.ServerVariables("URL") is equal to the current page URL
I have no code written because everything complains when I try to come up with something. I was thinking of doing it using a switch function but am I over complicating things?Below is the simple menu with the class I am trying to write to the link:
I am working on a page which is using a Master page for some default design, I need some css class to be added to the conent page, which we add normally in script tag in normal pages, My question is how to add some css content in a page which is using Master page,
I created a control where other developers can create an instance and use. There is a button click in the control. How do I allow developers to plug in their own code in a certain part of my control? I am not sure if or how exactly to use a delegate or event in this scenario.
I have Master Page and in master page i have user control, where i want to keep adding value in mention list class and i want to use this list class values in other pages.
How can i adding value in list class without intializing with new??
I have a table of people with columns holding bits of info about them. I also need a variety of computed columns such as FileAs (lastname + ", " + firstname) and CityStateZip (you get the idea). I am wondering where best to put these definitions. It's worthwhile to note that the user will want to search for things as seen on the page, not the little atoms in the table. For example, searching on ", e" finds everyone whose first name begins with E. Typing ", az" to get everyone who lives in Arizona.
I noticed that linq-to-sql queries only recognize the fields in the table definitions, not any that are added in the partial class associated with the dbml. Linq-to-sql does work against computed columns in the database; however, the column definitions--especially for international address formats--will become very complex and much better handled in code.
EDIT: And I'm a moron. I had copied the gridview and was calling a RowDataBound event handler for a different grid... Sorry to have wasted everyones time, but there is some good info here regardless if anyone has the same question. In the end, the public properties of the base class are binding correctly.
I'm looping through an ArrayList and creating a column in a DataTable from each field. One of my fields is a DateTime field, and I've noticed that when I create the columns, it's being changed to a String, but I need it to still be a DateTime field for sorting. I'm trying to do this, but it's not quite working.
ive a DB in access with a single table and no primary key, actually i dont need a primary key but i can consider a date field plus another to make an index. however i want to add a counter field based on every change of date field, for instance ill have many records of 20/May and all must have the same id then when the date is different, the next group of records with that new date must show 2 etc.. is it a quick way to update my database?
I have a custom gridview control which is a class library project.I want to be able to specify the css class for the gridview which I can do.But I also want to set a default css stylesheet to the gridview. So if I don't override it using the cssclass property it must get it's cssclass from the default stylesheet I have in my project.
How can I specify the default stylesheet. I have a stylesheet in a folder called "Styles" in my project.
we have been able to return information from the database and then select the relevant link and return that row of information from the SQL table. The next part I am working on is adding information to the database.
So far all the coding in done in a class file, we are using stored procedures and have used user controls to return the information from the database and then also to select the row of information for each news item from the database. The sql database connection information and executing the stored procedure information is all done in the class file. how to add the news items to the SQL table. Below is the code that is used to return each news item from the SQL Table, how i need to amend this to rather than display the information, save it to the database. Also having used stored procedures, would I need to create another stored procedure to to the INSERT INTO statement
Now there are five items in the ItemTemplate of this repeater..what i want is to set class of each of the anchor tags as "mySprite id1,mySprite id2 , mySprite id3 and so on.."
for that I did this in code behind...
for (int i = 1; i < 6; i++) { Name.Attributes.Add("class", "sprite id" + i); }
Now when I view page source, ALL my anchor tags have got class set as class="sprite id5"
I have a 2D array of doubles in my Default class on my Default.aspx.cs page, like so:
protected Double[,] time;
By the time the page loads, I have populated this array from a database. Now, I want to reference this array in another file (Diff.aspx.cs) to avoid visiting the database again. Also, the data is used in a read-only fashion.
