I'm pretty new to MVC 2 using the Entity Framework. I have two tables Company {ID int identity PK,Name nvarchar} and User {ID int identity PK,UserName nvarchar,CompanyID int FK}. A Foreign Key exists between User and Company.I generated my ADO.NET Entity Data Model, a Controller and a view to insert a record. My HTML form has the fields Company and UserName and the is when I click save a Company and User is inserted into the database. Sounds straight forward right!
My question is as follows:
I created a strongly-typed view derived from my 'User' entity. I'm using the the html helper Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Organisation.Name) but the html name attribute for this input field is 'Organisation.Name'. My problem with this is that the dot throws up all sorts of issues in JQuery, which sees this as a property. If I want to change the name I read that I can use DataAnnotations but because I used the Entity Designer this involves using Buddy Classes. Seems like a bit of overkill just to change the html name attribute on this input field.
I want to add an attribute to the dataset declared below whose value is the value of one of the field in the row. So I want to add the id as shown below.
This will me identify the node later in my application. Is this possible? Is this easier to do using XMLDocument?
Dim sdaFoo As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT BLAH FROM BLAHBLAH", conn) Dim dsFoo As DataSet = New DataSet() dsFoo.DataSetName = "apple" sdaFoo.Fill(dsFoo) dsFoo.WriteXml("C:Inetpubwwwrootfoo.xml")
Is there a way to add custom attributes to @Page directive and also get design time support like intellisense for the same?
I have used Adding Custom Property to Page Directive in ASP.Net 2.0 as a pointer.
I would like to have a attribute which will give dev an option to select value from list. Something similar to EnableSessionState attribute. I do understand I need to define an enum for the values. But I cannot understand how to make it available during the design time.
I've tried the same thing with an asp TextBox control and it works exactly as I'd expect simply adding the Key="myKey" attribute to the <input type="text"/> element. Is there a way around this with the standard RadioButton control, or will I have to inherit from the standard one to achieve the markup I'm wanting? Currently I'm using these attributes in JavaScript in the following way:
I have a dropdown list where I need more than just a bound value and a display value. I am using this in the page load event to add a custom attribute:
[Code]....
I'm actually looping through a sqldatareader for a list of employees, but for simplicity just consider the single option added above. When I go to check the attribute EmpNum for the selected option, I am getting "null":
[Code]....
Now the really weird part...If I add an option in the HTML source identical to the one that gets added in the codebehind, the javascript function works for that row, but not the row added from codebehind. Here is the rendered HTML for the SELECT:
[Code]....
If I select the 1st record (added from HTML source at design time) the alert says "12345". If I select the 2nd record, the alert says "null". I CAN get the value ("999-99-9999") and the displayed text ("John Doe") for either record, just not the EmpNum attribute, even though the HTML is exactly the same. I am completely stumped on this one.
I just want to add and attribute called "pubID" to an image button with the value I give it and then call that value on the image button click event. This image button was created dynamically as well. At the moment this code is not working. When debugging it looks like Pubid is getting assigned a value but on the click event, the attribute isn't being retrieved correctly.
I have a problem with a GridView that I can't figure out. It's inside an UpdatePanel and has been working fine for a long time. Today I have added a few lines to the code behind to add javascript to each row so that the user can just click the row to view the record. This works fine too, except that it breaks the paging of the GridView and I don't understand why.
Here is my code (The controls lstStatus and txtSearch are elsewhere on the page):
[Code]....
And in the codebehind the lines which break paging are the following three, in the RowDataBound event:
[Code]....
I've tried messing with the viewstate of the UpdatePanel, changing its UpdateMode to 'Always' and it's ChildrenAsTriggers property to 'True' but none of this makes any difference, and besides, it's been working for months as it is until I introduced these three new lines into the code behind.
Can anybody see why add these attributes to the row breaks paging?
Is it possible to add attributes in a linq query along with the other object data?
Here's what I have
[Code]....
But I'd like to add a custom attribute to each RadComboBoxItemData object in the query instead of having to do a foreach loop after the linq query to add the attributes on..
I am using ASP.NET 3.5 Menu Control. Is there a way to disable the default "hover" behavior, and change it so that user CANCLICK on the static menu item in order to make the child menu item appear?
easiest way to create/update a parent and child record at the same time (like customer with multiple addresses) with least or no code as possible? Both Web Forms and in MVC.
I am accessing this xml file by using LINQ to XML in asp.net by using C#. I am able to access all the attributes of an XML node by explicitly specifying the name of the attribute. I want to write query on this xml file which reads all the attribute values of the xml node (In our example the node is SERVER) dynamically means I want to write the query which can read the read the value of the attribute Name & ID from first node, only name from second row, Name, ID & Parent from the third row , Name & ID from the fourth row, Name, Parent & Value from the fifth row & only Name from the sixth row without modifying the existing code every time. Once I add one of the attribute ( for example if I add the attribute ID in the sixth row ) in the above xml file then I dont need to modify my LINQ to XML query. My query should dynamically fetch the total number of attributes & display their values. Is their any way to do this ?
Now I want to add another item to checkboxlist which is price of each item that is coming from database. How can I attach third value "Price" to each item of checkboxlist. Do I need to add attribute or what to each item ?
Is there a way to add .ascx files to a sitemap such that it will load/unload the controls based on the last ones visited? The problem is i have a page that contains a few controls that get placed under one another, and i'd like to just be able to jump between them with the sitemap instead of creating a new page for them... this is what i'm trying to put into the sitemap without luck (see Product List, Product Detail):
I've added a div overlay to my repeater control using absolute positioning. Predicably, this simply renders all of the divs in the same place. Is there any way that I can put this overlay over each row of my repeater?
However, if a user clicks on this more than one click the newer value replaces the previous. Is there a way to keep adding to the cart list when the user clicks on a new item?
Edit:
Here's my code for the Shopping Page:
[Code]....
I dont know if the location of creating the list is important? Wasn't sure if it was placed in the click event if it would keep creating a new instance?
The following code has only thrown a NullReferenceException a handful of times over the last several months, but I'm not exactly sure why. The code isn't mine, but it looks pretty straight forward to me.
[Code]....
The only thing I can think of is that pageType is null when it's being used as a dictionary key, but apparently that is not possible.
I also thought that the error might be with the _section.Pages, but section is never null and never sets anything. If .Pages[page] returns null, the MyPage constructor simply returns. So what am I missing?
I'm working on an ASP.NET webforms app that will serve as a simple intake form to create work items in TFS 2010.The app works correctly when I run it locally in debug mode--the submission completes and the work item is created.
When I publish the form to our dev server, it yellow screens and throws the following error:
[SecurityException: TF50309: The following account does not have sufficient permissions to complete the operation: DOMAINNAMESERVERNAME$. The following permissions are needed to perform this operation: View collection-level information.]
In my code, I'm attempting to access TFS using a service account, and from what I can tell the service account is being used correctly when I run in debug mode. Here's what my C# looks like:
If I set a breakpoint at the tfs.Authenticate() line, the server object shows the service account name as the current user and IsAuthenticated = true.
The line in the exception that mentions SERVERNAME$ is what's stumping me. It's seems like IIS is deciding to try to access TFS with the app pool identity instead of the credentials that I'm explicitly supplying. Our dev server is a Server 2008 box running IIS 7.
I have a databound dropdown list (ASP.net). I want the page to load with a certain item as the selected item.
I am not adding a blank first row (thats not what i need)I find that I can get this to work with "AppendDataBoundItems" to true, but the side-effect is that I have all the items listed twice.
