Forms Data Controls :: Adding Attributes To Row Breaks Paging?

Mar 18, 2011

I have a problem with a GridView that I can't figure out. It's inside an UpdatePanel and has been working fine for a long time. Today I have added a few lines to the code behind to add javascript to each row so that the user can just click the row to view the record. This works fine too, except that it breaks the paging of the GridView and I don't understand why.

Here is my code (The controls lstStatus and txtSearch are elsewhere on the page):

[Code]....

And in the codebehind the lines which break paging are the following three, in the RowDataBound event:

[Code]....

I've tried messing with the viewstate of the UpdatePanel, changing its UpdateMode to 'Always' and it's ChildrenAsTriggers property to 'True' but none of this makes any difference, and besides, it's been working for months as it is until I introduced these three new lines into the code behind.

Can anybody see why add these attributes to the row breaks paging?

Forms Data Controls :: Adding A Select Parameter Breaks Gridview?

Jul 27, 2010

I am defininging all my sqldatasource select parameters upfront in the .aspx file. Then based on user filter choices, I modify the Select Command to include those parameters. Works fine, but when I add one of these parameters, the bound grid doesn't pull back any results. No error message is given.

If I remove the ToteID control parameter line below, everything works fine. But with it in, the SQLDataSource.Selecting event doesn't even fire.

Forms Data Controls :: Adding ALL To Gridview Paging?

Feb 11, 2011

I currently have a gridview on my page, which has PageSize="10" AllowPaging="true" set, so we're getting back records in groups of 10, and paging is showing as 1 2 3 4 etc... the client is asking if it's possible to also add an ALL at the end of the paging, so paging would look like:

1 2 3 4 ... ALL

clicking ALL would show everything, as if the grid was set to show all from the beginning, is this possible? anyone know how? I thought maybe the <PagerSettings LastPageText="ALL" /> would help get me started, at least show the ALL at the end, but that didn't work for me. also wasn't then sure how to setup the click event to clear the grid's settings.

Mar 15, 2011

i need to show 3 gridviews in a tab container (ajax).. which should refresh at same time.. what is the optimal way to get data from database for that can some one show a solution for this .

i need to design an application in asp.net using gridview custom control. the gridview will show hundreds of records using paging with checkboxes in every row. if the user checks 3 rows in first page of gridview which is showing 9 rows, those 3 rows should appear on top in the next gridview page and the page should display only 6 new records. ie 6+3=9 similarly if user checks 2 more rows, the next page should show 3+2 rows(from first 2 pages) on top and only 4 new rows ( 3+2+4=9)software developer

Web Forms :: Adding Attributes To Dropdownlist From Codebehind

Jan 27, 2011

I have a dropdown list where I need more than just a bound value and a display value. I am using this in the page load event to add a custom attribute:

[Code]....

I'm actually looping through a sqldatareader for a list of employees, but for simplicity just consider the single option added above. When I go to check the attribute EmpNum for the selected option, I am getting "null":

[Code]....

Now the really weird part...If I add an option in the HTML source identical to the one that gets added in the codebehind, the javascript function works for that row, but not the row added from codebehind. Here is the rendered HTML for the SELECT:

[Code]....

If I select the 1st record (added from HTML source at design time) the alert says "12345". If I select the 2nd record, the alert says "null". I CAN get the value ("999-99-9999") and the displayed text ("John Doe") for either record, just not the EmpNum attribute, even though the HTML is exactly the same. I am completely stumped on this one.

Adding Javascript From Code Breaks The Validation On Page?

Nov 13, 2010

What I have is button that should open another page only if textbox length is 8. Javascript must be added from code because it does not simply calls the bla.aspx, it's more like bla.aspx?id=4&code=234 etc etc...

I have this code on server side

button.Attributes.Add("onclick","javascript:window.open(bla.aspx)");

on client side i have

<asp:TextBox ID="policyNumberTxt" runat="server" MaxLength="8" CausesValidation="true"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="policyNumberTxtRev" runat="server"
ControlToValidate="policyNumberTxt" ErrorMessage="Length must be 8."
ValidationExpression="{.{8}.}" ValidationGroup="bla" Display="Dynamic"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>
<asp:Button ID="printBtn" CssClass="button" Text="Print" runat="server" CausesValidation="true" ValidationGroup="bla" />

What happens is that when I click the button page bla.aspx opens, and even postback is trigered. Validator is showing the message, but page is opened and postback trigered.

How to handle this? Validation is broken...

Adding XML Attributes To A DataSet?

Feb 16, 2010

I want to add an attribute to the dataset declared below whose value is the value of one of the field in the row. So I want to add the id as shown below.

<root>
<Table id="GAS-405">
<apple>2009FA</apple>
<orange>3.00</orange>
<pear>BGPR</pear>
<banana>GAS-405</banana>
</Table>
</root>

This will me identify the node later in my application. Is this possible? Is this easier to do using XMLDocument?

Dim sdaFoo As SqlDataAdapter = New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT BLAH FROM BLAHBLAH", conn)
Dim dsFoo As DataSet = New DataSet()
dsFoo.DataSetName = "apple"
sdaFoo.Fill(dsFoo)
dsFoo.WriteXml("C:Inetpubwwwrootfoo.xml")

Adding Custom Attributes To The Page ?

Jul 19, 2010

Is there a way to add custom attributes to @Page directive and also get design time support like intellisense for the same?

I have used Adding Custom Property to Page Directive in ASP.Net 2.0 as a pointer.

I would like to have a attribute which will give dev an option to select value from list. Something similar to EnableSessionState attribute. I do understand I need to define an enum for the values. But I cannot understand how to make it available during the design time.

Forms Data Controls :: Level Breaks In A Gridview Control?

Jan 11, 2010

I have a gridview on my asp.net web page. I bind the gridview to a dataset. The dataset has the following fields:

facility, date, patient name, description. Presently, the gridview looks like this when rendered:

ABC Hospital 10/1/2009 John Doe Sore Throat
ABC Hospital 10/2/2009 Jane Doe Mumps
ABC Hospital 10/3/2009 Bill Smith Flu
XYZ Hospital 10/2/2009 Tom Jones Migraine
XYZ Hospital 10/2/2009 Mary Mills Cold

I would like to ony display the facility once for each group. For example, ABC Hospital would only display on the first line and would be blank on the next 2 lines. I think I did this once before but cannot find the code. I have not been able to find a good example on the web.

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview With Hover Menu Breaks In 4.0?

May 4, 2010

I have a gridview with a popup menu that successfully runs against Framework 3.5.

In 4.0, the popup no longer seems to be tied to the row that was mouse-overed. the popup still appears, but near the top of the gridview (not near the row) regardlesss of the row that mouse-overed and clicking "Edit" will only edit the top (first) row.

I even tried to simplify and use this example [URL] as a test, the same results occur, run this against 3.5, it works fine, run against 4.0, it breaks. I think there's something wrong with the C# code

there's a better solution with the ClientIDRowSuffix?

Adding Custom Attributes To .NET RadioButton Control

Sep 23, 2010

I want to add a custom attribute to an asp.net RadioButton called Key which I'm using client-side for an ajax request.

What I'm finding is that my aspx markup which is the following:

<asp:RadioButton ID="rdoPost" GroupName=PreferredContactMethod" value="Post" onclick="DoStuff(this)" runat="server" />

gets rendered in the page as<span Key="ContactMethod">
<input id="rdoPost" type="radio" name="PreferredContactMethod"" value="Post" onclick="DoStuff(this);" />
</span>

whereas I'd expected (and hoped) to get the following

<input id="rdoPost" type="radio" Key="ContactMethod" name="PreferredContactMethod"" value="Post" onclick="DoStuff(this);" />

I've tried the same thing with an asp TextBox control and it works exactly as I'd expect simply adding the Key="myKey" attribute to the <input type="text"/> element.Is there a way around this with the standard RadioButton control, or will I have to inherit from the standard one to achieve the markup I'm wanting? Currently I'm using these attributes in JavaScript in the following way:

var key = rdoPost.Key;

Forms Data Controls :: Prevent Line Breaks In GridView Cells?

1-
2345

This looks really really awful and I need to fix it. You know how in HTML there is the non-breaking space symbol? Well I want a non-breaking dash symbol.

Forms Data Controls :: Gridview Change First Row Attributes Not Working?

I have a gridview, and I want to change the backcolor of any row that has the column checkedin = false.

I have this working fine, except that it will not change the backcolor of the first row and only the first row. Matter a fact if I sort the columns by clicking on the header rows the order changes and the backcolor highlights the row that was the first row before it was sorted so long as it is not the first row. I actually removed all formatting from my gridview and still the same issue.
