Is there anyway to auto-generate ASP.NET controls based on fields in a SQLDataSource? It is really easy to create a form in WinForms by dragging the fields onto the form. You can even determine which control will be used (like a dropdown). Is there anyway to do this in ASP.NET? I don't want a DetailsView since I need to have separate controls that are created.

I really don't know if this Post fit in this Forum section. But here I go. I need some sugestion to develop an ASP.NET code that generate complex IDs / Keys automatically. Let me be more understandable:
I want to create uniquelly IDs with more complex composition (kind of 18958351512783997769711... or crlu0xakecjzlgmjsgnedr55) or something link that (doesn't matter the lenght... those are only examples).
So, I can use that to set COOKIE ID's... PRODUCTS CODE ID's.... CUSTOMER's CART ID's... etc... But it need to generate uniquelly numbers. I don't know if you got my point I hope you did.
My solution has a web.config file and it works, no problem. However, when i make a change to a file in one of my projects and then build, it auto-generates a web.config file for that project. Then if I go to the file in my browser, it throws a windows authentication error. I then have to delete the web.config file and it works.Why is it auto-generating this web.config file?

I have a form on my website and when the page loads I want the fields to be populated with information from the database. I have written a stored procedure to do this, but I can't seem to find the syntax to make these fields auto populate with this information when a user goes to this page.

Database model is very simple. I have articles and each articles has a category. Simple relationship 1 category many articles.
So to take all articles I use code:

and it's automatically loads Category reference and all Category references to. So it's looks like it's load all nested fields automatically. How I can deny this?
I was thinking that I should use .Include("Category"), but it seems that it's don't needed.Problem is that when I try to send it it's throw an exception:

View 1 RepliesI have a report with 4 different variables await user input, these variable can be null but the problem I am having is since null is set to the default value for all of the variables the report will automatically generate itself when the user starts it.
Is there a way to halt auto generation so the user just sees the variables and the view report button other than setting one of the variables to not have a default value of null?
I have an EF model with a table with several foreign keys. These foreign keys are managed by associations. In code, I can get a strongly typed list of objects when I access that property on the object.
When I generate a strongly typed view, all I see are the int fields. Is there a way to get ASP.NET MVC to bind to the objects that are related as well as the main object?

View 1 RepliesI have a shortcut on my desktop to a login page for a website I use quite often. Every time I go there I have to reenter my user name and password.
The desktop URL shortcut I have is
http://domain.com/service/Login.aspx
I've tried adding the following changes
http://domain.com/service/Login.aspx?username=ckimball&password=joshua1
But this doesn't auto populate the fields on the website when it loads. Is there something special I need to do so the webpage will fill in the fields on the form?
Also bonus if I could just auto submit to login so I don't need the page to load and have me click "login" but I don't think that's possible... or is it?
In My project i want to use the mvccontrib [URL] to auto generate grid by passing the DataTable to the Grid. Currently Grid does not support this. Grid takes IEnumerable(Of T) and auto generate columns. Is their any way i can achieve this by passing DataTable. Or How do i convert the DataTable to IEnumerable(Of T). My DataTable is completely Dynamic i don't know number of columns or names of the columns at design time. DataTable completely dynamic number of columns are not fixed it just any DataTable. In Short i want to convert Dynamic DataTable to IEnumerable(Of T). Or Is their any better way.
1) One way i tried is using .net 4.0 Dynamic, DynamicObject and ExpandoObject I created a dynamic class as shown here [URL]. I trid passing IEnumerable(Of SampleDynamicObject) but BuildColumns() method is not able to find out the proprieties dynamically added on to it.
2) I think Second way to modify the AutoGenerateColumns() method to work with DataTable, But it looks impossible as Grid Get initialize using IEnumerable(Of T) and all the call on grid for method is using IEnumerable(Of T). So it's come down to converting DataTable to IEnumerable(Of T) and my DataTable are dynamic i don't know their structure at design time So i can't write any specific class to create a object and convert DataTable to IEnumerable(Of T).

I am having trouble with .rdlc field sizing. Regardless of the table/field size settings in my .rdlc report, the reportviewer always shrinks the fields and table. I have tested everything I can think of, and searched the web for a solution to this problem, but no luck yet.
I have also tried just about every size setting there is and even looked in the output html, but nothing seems to be decreasing the width. I have attached two images. in the first image, I have added a black border around my table, and a red border around one of the fields to demonstrate the auto-shrink issue. the second image shows my vs report settings.

I have a form that has a MAC Address field and a Password field and I have the chrome auto-fill options turned off, but when I load the page, chrome thinks the MAC Address should be an e-mail address and puts an e-mail address in there and for the password, it puts a password in there. Is there a way to prevent this behavior? Is there way to do this programmatically on page load, I tried clearing the fields, but that doesn't work.
