Mar 14, 2011I have a .NET 3.5 project that uses a .NET 1.1 dll. When I copy the 1.1 dll into the location referenced by the 3.5 project, the 3.5 project will not compile until I close out Visual Studio and reopen the project. I think this is related to refreshing the reference to the 1.1 dll but I'd like a setting to auto-refresh the references.

Now though nothing happens. It's not formatting like it used to. where I can set this or switch it back? I checked Tools > Options > CSS but couldn't find anything there that fixed it.

Oct 14, 2010I am running Visual Studio 2008. I cannot get the auto format to work on the source code of my aspx page. I have tried it from the edit menu and the ctrl K, D. Nothing works. If I manually fix everything, the next time I open the file the formatting is gone. Here is a sample of what it looks like:

Aug 3, 2010I'm using VS 2010 Express Edition (VWD) to develop a website project that will be deployed to a Windows 2000 Server (targeting .NET 2.0). BACKGROUND: The website was new, so I chose the 'c# blank website' project template in VS 2010. This (as you may know) gave me an extremely more lean web.config file than VS 2008. I like that for 4.0 development, but I'm going to be deploying it to the testing region tomorrow and I'm getting concerned that all that extra stuff that used to be in the web.config is going to bite me.

In Tools->Options->Text Editor->HTML->Format, I set "Insert attribute value quotes when typing" off (and "...when formatting" is also deselected) but it still seems to insert the quotes.
why automatic quotes might be disabled for everything but style and class attributes?

Custom tool error: Failed to generate code. Unable to convert input xml file content to a DataSet. Invalid XPath selection inside field node.
And designer.cs got deleted.If I mannually add datatable in .xsd then it is good.But that option is not acceptable.

Less generally I have an Accordion with 2 Accordion Panes in it. When modifing properties of the Accordion VS 2008 adds an Accordion extender and duplicates the two Accordion Panes!

Jun 6, 2010I have a simple online web system where it possible for the visitors to "play around" with the system. They can like create categories and products and so forth. Everything they create are stored into a database.
What I want is to be able to reset this database with my default values (table data) every n hours.
So for example if we have a bunch of users that have played with the system and created new things. Then I want to be able to make some kode that deletes all data in the tables in this database and fill it with default data. The default data can come from a backup file, or another database with same tables structure or whatever.
I want this task to be done every day at 12 pm or every n hour.
Is this possible (by forexample scheduled webservice tasks or just something as long as it is simple).

Aug 30, 2010I have a folder with a web site I'm developing which is connected to a database.Every time I move the folder to a different computer it's a pain when I have to move the database and change the connection string.
I've thought to use for the first time a database in the app_data folder and move all the database inside it.
Nevertheless, when I try to recreate all the tables in the new database for the first time with the query "create table ..." I get and error saying that "SQL CREATE TABLE" is not supported. Is there a way to manage this situation?

Mar 9, 2011 I need to do in order for me to have a *.dll file created but, what I want is just the *.dll file, I don't want to have the "*.refresh" and the "*.pdb" files, is this even possible? Or I forcely need to have more than one file when I'm generating dll files?
What I usually do when my dll is ready to be compile is to run the "Build Application" option inside Visual Studio then, I'll go to the app's folder and access "Bin/Released" but whenever I add the new "*.dll" in another project I ger three files instead of one (previously mentioned).

May 10, 2010suddenly, with my Visual Studio 2008 I can no longer debugging my web applications (ASP.NET 3.5). I obtain this error: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Click Help for more information. Auto-attach to process [8360] w3wp.exe' on machine 'DELL' failed. The weird thing is that I haven't done special changes to my IIS.

Mar 10, 2010I am using visual studio 2008 professional. I created a unit test project for my current website (project). This unit testing project is mainly testing code in App-Code folder. In order to be able to access classes from App_Class I need to add App_Code.dll reference to my unit testing project. Right now, I am doing like: publish website, which produce App_Code.dll. Then I added it to my unit testing project. This is very time consuming process: if I make any changes on under test class, I need to publish website to get App_Code.dll. It takes at lest 4 minutes to publish and get App-code.dll. If I have add the new App-code to my unit testing project, it takes about 1 to 2 minites. Is there an easier way toget App_Code.dll?
I have tried use Accessor that MS Test autogenerated, which deos not need App_Code.dll, however, I cannot get an object instantiated. So that is why I add App_Code.dll to my test project.
