Auto Wiring Of Property Does Not Work

In my Asp.Net project I wanna use Property Auto-wiring, e.g. for my ILogger. Basically I placed it as Property into class where I need to use it. Like below.

Update:

- I didnt mentioned before, but its Asp.Net webforms 3.5.
- I can't see what I am missing. I guess it could be because the injection gets involved later in process and didnt get set in requested class.

Is there any difference between accessing a property that has a backing field

versus an auto-property?

public int Id { get; set; }

The reason I'm asking is that when letting ReSharper convert a property into an auto property it seems to scan my entire solution, or at least all aspx-files.

I can't see any reason why there should be any difference between the two from outside the class. Is there?

I have been tasked with a duty to get auto complete to work on a simple employee search web form that I have created. And after looking at the tutorial I have an idea of how to get auto complete working and in the instance of my page I have it working with the sample data from the tutorial. So my question is this. I'm trying to get an IDENTITY column to auto-increment with each new row inserted, so that the field (userid in this case) can be used as a unique identifier.

However, I'm getting this error:

I don't understand - if I have to explicitly insert something into my auto-increment column, how do I know what to insert? Isn't the point of an auto-increment column that it's... auto?

Ajax - Wiring Up JavaScript Handlers After A Partial Postback?

I am trying to use LinkButtons with the DefaultButton property of the ASP.NET Panel in an UpdatePanel. I have read and used the various other answers that are around describing the wiring up of the click event so that a full postback is not done instead of a partial postback. When the page loads, I wire up the .click function of the LinkButton so that the DefaultButton property of the ASP.NET panel will work.

This all works fine, until you bring an UpdatePanel into the mix. With an UpdatePanel, if there is a partial postback, the script to wire up the .click function is not called in the partial postback, and hitting enter reverts to causing a full submit of the form rather than triggering the LinkButton.

How can I cause javascript to be executed after a partial postback to re-wire up the .click function of the LinkButton? I have produced a sample page which shows the problem. There are two alerts showing 1) When the code to hook up the .click function is being called, and 2) When the .click function has been called (this only happens when you hit enter in the textbox after the event has been wired up). To test this code, type something in the textbox and hit Enter. The text will be copied to the label control, but "Wiring up Event Click" alert will not be shown. Add another letter, hit enter again, and you'll get a full postback without the text being copied to the label control (as the LinkButton wasn't called). Because that was a full postback, the Wiring Up Event Click event will be called again, and the form will work properly the next time again.

This is being done with ASP.NET 3.5.

We have a modular architecture where we have some views (cshtml) files in a separate project (class library). How can we get the syntax highlighting and autocomplete to work when the project isn't an MVC project?

note that the class library has controllers, views, models etc. It just doesn't have the web.config, global.asax, etc that a normal mvc project would have.

The intellisense works for everything but the so important model:

Usercontrols - Wiring Events On Dynamically-loaded User Controls?

For a "dashboard" module I need to dynamically load user controls based on criteria as the user enters the page (role, etc). The problem is that the events are not being fired at all from the controls

As I understand it I need to load the controls in the OnPreInit method of the dashboard page, however I cannot get a reference to the Placeholder control at this point of initialization (i.e. I get a NullReferenceException); trying to load the Placeholder dynamically via Page.FindControl gives me, ironically, a StackOverflowException.

I've tried loading the controls in PreRender and OnInit as well but the events in the controls are not wired up properly and will not fire.

I have an ASP.NET 3.5 web application in which i am using the ToolkitScriptManager as below:

This works fine but from a performance standpoint this is not good as the pages are making a lot of requests to the webresources.axd and scriptresource.axd files. When I changed the CombineScripts property to true my ASP.NET AJAX control extenders are no longer working. What is the reason for this weired behavior and is there a fix for this?

No matter how I set the width in the EmptyDataRowStyle in a GridView, it gets ignored. The width of this construct always takes on the width of the text instead of what is asigned to the width property. This is also true if the property is set as a CSS style width.

If the width is assigned to the GridView construct then the EmptyDataRowStyle will take on that width.

I am using Media Player Control to play a video file(.mpg). The video file can be played ok when I specify an absolute URL value (something llike C:UsersMyFilesMyVideoTestVideo.mpg) for the MovieURL property . Anyway when I set a relative URL value like ./TestVideo.mpg (the format follows an example from some tutorial) for the MovieURL property, the video file cannot by played.

I'm generating the rdlc at runtime and I'm using LoadReportDefinition(memorystream) to provide the definition to report viewer. It works fine but when I export it to pdf or excel, the file extension comes in as .xls[1] or .pdf[1].

I have tried giving the DisplayName property but it doesn't work.

I'm trying to write my first server control. It's supposed to be a pager (like in the GridView Control Pageing-"thingy").

(It looks something like this : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ...)

I'm trying to implement it by making the control inherit Table properties and then adding two rows. One row has a hidden field that has the current selected page and the other has LinkButtons in individual TableCells.

The problem I'm facing is that the LinkButton.Click event only fires on the first 10 linkButtons but not the dots (...). What I mean is, when I press the dots (...) it renders like this: .... 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 ... BUT when I press any of these LinkButtons the control just "reloads" itself and renders from 1 to 10 ... (and the Event never fires) I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I think it has something to do with the "override" functions because I don't know which to use. I have tried quite a few but haven't found the right way to do this. The Code I got so far:

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

I have a "database explorer" page that is desgined to be pointed to an unknown database and allow users to browse the data, so it basically uses the SQL system tables to develop its queries and pull in data to tables using auto-generate columns.The problem that I have is that I would like certain types of columns to have certain formats and I'm wondering the best way to go about it. I could format the column in code in the RowDataBound event I assume, but I'm wondering if there some better standard way to do this? Is there a setting of any kind that I can use? For example I want all of the datetime fields to be formated for short date, like {0:d}, I want decimal fields to have 4 decimal places, etc.

I have a simple online web system where it possible for the visitors to "play around" with the system. They can like create categories and products and so forth. Everything they create are stored into a database.

What I want is to be able to reset this database with my default values (table data) every n hours.

So for example if we have a bunch of users that have played with the system and created new things. Then I want to be able to make some kode that deletes all data in the tables in this database and fill it with default data. The default data can come from a backup file, or another database with same tables structure or whatever.

I want this task to be done every day at 12 pm or every n hour.

Is this possible (by forexample scheduled webservice tasks or just something as long as it is simple).

The user control has public properties named accordingly and the page has protected properties accordingly which I've verified have the desired values.

For some reason the values are always empty strings or 0s in the usercontrol, no matter what the page property is.

In the Web.Config we have a timeout property. Ex:

When loggin in, we can specify a ticket expiry date. Ex:

Why there's two places where I can set expiration info about forms-authentication? What's the difference between them? What has more relevance?
